  • Walking versus Biking

Which burns more calories, walking or biking? I know it depends on how fast you go for each...so maybe there is no answer. But if I need to get somewhere that is 1.5 miles away...which would be the better choice of transportation? Biking I feel like I'm working harder, like I can feel it in my muscles, but the time is much less. Walking you're

Can you have too much fiber in your diet?

  • How many calories should I be eating?

Currently I eat 1200 calories a day. Usually without watching what I eat I'm eating I'm consuming around 1700 to 1800 without a weight gain or loss. I'm trying to lose just a couple more pounds, but I've lost nothing in the past two weeks (in the beginning I lost 5). Is this too few calories? I don't want my body to go into starvation

  • Re: Staggering Parts of Meals and Snacks

I hope its okay. I do the same, and have for years. I tend to get full really quickly, but hungry really quickly too. Since I've been watching what I eat its been like this: 8am - 200 calorie shake 10am - 150 calorie snack/breakfast 12pm - 250 calorie lunch 2pm - 200 calorie snack (sometimes a shake) 4pm - 50 - 100 calorie snack (ie fruits or veggies

  • Low Fat, High Protein Foods

So as well as using slimfast, I'm trying to budget my carbs, proteins, fats as 40%, 30% and 20% of my intake. But I'm having trouble getting enough protein without going over on my fat for the day. I have been doing this for a while. I started when I went to college and found I was rarely eating meat, to be sure I'm getting some protein

  • Calcium

Adding slimfast to my daily food intake has made it so I think I'm having way too much calcium. Slim fast Optima French Vanilla (what I drink) prepared is close to 500mg of calcium per day. If I have that twice I have my 1000mg for the day. BUT thats not all the calcium I get. I really love tofu, and have 1/4 a block (cut up and pan fried) with

  • Skeptical...

So I picked up a thing of French Vanilla Optima Shake Mix cause it was on sale and looked tasty...and it is very tasty, but I don't see how something like this actually works. I've been trying it the past few mornings just for kicks, and after having a shake I'm starving after an hour. It seems more unhealthy than my usual breakfast. Usually
  • Re: college student seeking advice

I'm a college student too...the easiest way to get fast healthy food in dorms (or just when you're busy) is rice. I bought a $10 rice cooker at walgreens. I get Brown Rice from Trader Joe's, and 1/4 cup takes about 15 minutes to cook, and I don't have to do anything. When its almost done I put some frozen veggies in the microwave, and
