I eat 1300 calories, and then want to work out as i have always done, but i can't!!! i know i need more calories, i can only run 30 mts...and i love to run for a total of 50 mts. and it's not slow! so when i run this 30 mts, is not a complete run without holding to the bar...i do the rest 15 mts, grabbing onto the bar...so, i haven't ask you, so other websites tell me i should increase for every 100 calories i burned... Today, i did my run and felt extremely hungry afterwards so i only had 200 calories more, not going over 1500 cal. Hopefully, my workout can become better again. Right, now with the diet im not planning on running more than 30 mts.. i feel i can't run 50 mts with 1300 cals limitation

Re: Can I eat extra calories on days I exersize a lot?

You are certainly burning more calories on days when you are hiking, so it is appropriate for you to have extra calories on those days. I would suggest adding an extra 200 calories on days when you are going for your long hike. So, an extra Slim-Fast shake or meal bar, 1/2 of a sandwich, a cup of soup or a nice fresh salad would good choices. So, don't get discouraged, it is fine to add the extra food and make it part of your plan on those days!

Enjoy and keep up the good work!

However, about once a week a will take my kids on a long walk or hike...around 5 miles, uphill both ways (or so it feels), and I'm pushing a double stroller! I am WAY hungrier on those days...and after having an extra sandwich or something I feel discouraged and give up on the plan for a day (or 2).

How much more food would be reasonable on a day where I walk or hike 5+ miles? I don't want to say that I "exersize regularly" and have slim-fast.com increase my calories every day, because I don't go on a long hike EVERY week...only when the weather is good, etc.
