I know it can really be tough sometimes and many times we are our own worst enemies. I know that I used to say cruel things about and to myself that I would never allow someone else to say to me. For me one of the biggest parts of weight loss is to learn to be kind and gentle with myself. We are all special and all of us are worthy of love and kindness and that really needs to start within ourselves. When I slip and eat something that is “bad” for me it is ok. I have learned that food is just food. It has no power over me. If my body or mind wants it for some reason then it is usually better for me to eat a little bit of it and be done with it. Now I am not talking about an entire bag of chips or a whole box of donuts. I just eat whatever it is until that crazy urge is satisfied. When I’m done, I don’t indulge in self hate or guilt over it. It is just food, it isn’t the end of the world. Life is too short to obsess and blame myself constantly and when I let go of that, the cravings and slip ups became much easier to handle. I have found that giving myself permission to eat those “bad” items occasionally has taken the power away from the food items and given it to me. What I am trying to say is … You can do this . You can get control of your weight and learn to have a healthier relationship with food. It is ok to slip up sometimes as long as you dust yourself off and continue to move forward. Don’t beat yourself up over it and most importantly PRAISE yourself for the good choices you make. Loving yourself is harder than it might sound, but once you start giving yourself the praise you deserve for your little victories it becomes easier to step away from the box of Ding Dongs and be excited about reaching your next little milestone, whatever that might be for you. Maybe you got your whole serving of fruit or vegetables for the day or drank the correct amount of water. Maybe you walked a mile or went through an entire day without thinking something mean about yourself…You get the idea. Everyone’s little victories are individual but they are so important and you should celebrate them and yourself! The more you do that the less power food will have over you and the better you will feel inside and out :0) Take care and remember that we are all cheering you on!
