Slim·Fast Community

Slim·Fast® Community Guide

The free Slim·Fast® Community is open to everyone interested in weight loss and a healthy lifestyle, no matter what diet plan you're on. If you have questions about how our Community works, please read the Community Guide below and refer to our Community Standards & Posting Guidelines.

Creating your profile

Your public profile provides other members of the Slim·Fast® Community with the personal information about yourself that you want to make public. Your public profile is editable, so you can update or delete information as you need to.

Your personal avatar and "About Me" information are displayed on your public profile page. One difference between your public profile page and your Community home page is the detailed information about your activity and any activity by other members that is related to you. For example, from your Community home page, you can see more information about your Buddies and you have the ability to add Buddies, send messages and emails, and add announcements.

Until you upload a personal avatar, a placeholder image will be displayed. When you upload a personal avatar, which you can do from your profile page, the avatar will appear instead of the placeholder.

You can click on "View public profile" to view your profile data.

How to use Groups

A Group is a mini-community with its own membership. Slim·Fast® has Groups devoted to all aspects of weight loss, within the categories of Getting Started, Health and Nutrition, Food and Eating, Fitness and Exercise, Motivation, and People Like Me.

The "My Groups" section of your Community profile page displays the groups to which you belong. The Groups main page (accessible by clicking "View all Groups" from your dashboard) provides you with links to all Groups within Slim-Fast.com. Group Members can view and reply to content (media files, discussion threads) within that Group.

From each Group’s main page, you can request membership to that Group by clicking "Join this Group." You can also view recent discussion posts published within the Group under "Most Recent Content."

How to use Buddies

The Slim·Fast® Community encourages you to connect one-on-one with like-minded people. We call them "Buddies" and you can connect with as many – or as few – Buddies as you like. To add someone to your Buddy List, just click on the "Add to Buddies" link that appears next to that Member’s name.

When you click on a Buddy’s user name, her or his public profile opens. Your own profile page also includes functionality for adding new Buddies, sending messages and emails, and adding announcements.

Your Buddies’ community activity shows up on your profile page. When your Buddy publishes a post or comment or uploads a new file, for example, your Buddies’ Activity section will note it.

Within any Group Discussion, you can send a post to your Buddy. The "Send to Buddy" opens a window so you can send the post.

How to send a message

One of the features of the Slim-Fast.com Community is the ability for Community members to converse with each other. The Conversations section of your Community home page lists your conversations with other members of your Community. You can begin a conversation by clicking "Send a Message" from your public profile.

When you receive a message from another Community member, it displays in the Conversations section of your profile page. You can click on the conversation title to open a dialog window from which you can reply to the message.

Within any Group Discussion, you can also send a post to a Buddy. “Send to Buddy” opens a window so you can send the post.

Can I find my old Buddy?

Our new Slim·Fast® Community is an entirely new system as of 2009. Unfortunately, we were not able to carry over Buddy connections from our former Buddy System (pre-2008) to the new system.

We apologize to those who lost contact with their former Buddies. However, we encourage you to participate in the new Buddy System. We think it’s better than ever – and we hope you’ll agree!

If you still have contact information for a former Buddy, this may be a good way to stay in touch.

Where are the old forums?

Previous Slim-Fast.com forums (pre-2009) are still accessible, even though our Community has been completely revamped as of December, 2008. We’ve archived those older forum discussions here.

Where is my old profile?

We’ve saved any previous profile information (pre-2009) you may have entered and ported it into the new Community site. When you view your Community profile information, you’ll see a section called "About Me." This will display any public profile information you have provided to us in the past.

Remember, you can edit your profile at any time.
