Hi everyone,

I see this is a new thread, and I figured I'd start the ball rolling.  Anyone else out there trying to lose their baby weight?  I had my son 6 months ago in July and gained a whopping 70 lbs while I was pregnant.   When I got married and before I got pregnant I was comfortable around 135-145 (I always fluctuated).  My skinny weight when I was younger was 125 or 130, but as I got older I was happy with 135/140.

Now, 6 months after my son was born I've lost only 25 lbs and I'm weighing in at 190!   I started the slim fast program last week and managed to lose 5 1/2 lbs so far.  I want to lose at least 30 lbs before the summer.  It's been so difficult, mostly because I have never had to lose this much... whenever I've had to lose weight before it was maybe 10-15 lbs and I can do that in a month or so. Losing 45 or 50 lbs is a big time commitment and it seems like FOREVER, which makes it hard for me to stick with it...

After a while, when I am stressed, I always go back to junk food and McDonalds!!  And with the stress of taking care of house, a teething 6 month old and a teenager, two dogs, and a part time job, I find myself grabbing whatever's around to eat.  Last night when my husband was at work, the baby is crying (teething bad), my little dog ran away, and I'm online trying to pay bills, so I ended up eating THREE Skinny Cow Ice Cream sandwiches from stress!  (even though they are low fat/low cal, I'm sure 3 per day is not the recommended amount LOL)

Anyhoo... if there's any other new mommies, maybe we can start a board for support and weigh ins and all that fun stuff.  (And, I figure we can use the board to do baby chat stuff too).

Feel free to add me to your buddies if you are interested. :)

Hi! I too am trying to lose the weight! Unlike you, I gained the weight when I first married. My skinny weight is about 110-115lbs, but I'm comfortable with 125-135. I married at 135, but quickly gained weight and reached 172lbs. I also have a six month old, she was born on the fourth of July. While pregnant I gained an additional 20 pounds. I managed to lose the pregnancy weight and some, but I have gotten stuck at 151lbs. That's why I joined Slimfast, I'm hoping this will help me lose the rest! When was your son born? Well, I hope that we both can stick to this plan and look like Hot Mommas for the summer!

Hi! I am glad to see this thread. I had my son 12 months ago but I am just now getting to the point of getting the weight off. I have gained so much it is crazy!  I am about 50lbs overweight right now. If I could lose that I would be 125...I would be so excited to weigh that again. What is bad is that I weigh exactly what I did the day I went in to have my baby! How sad. I was so unmotivated....but now I want, no I NEED to lose the weight!

I would love to chat more with you all!

Hi Gals,

I had my liitle guy back in October. I do have 4 other kids so he's my 5th. So I'm not a brand new mom but do have a sweet baby here. I just started slim fast and trying to lose this weight for 2 weeks...I struggle with staying focused on my efforts to lose weight...Get distracted,stressed,too busy,overwhelmed sometimes,etc...Love coming to this site for support and it's nice to know others are here to encourage everyone. My goal is;

Weigh 169 and need to lose like 45lbs. I would like to get down to 125 cuz I'm just over 5ft tall. I'll keep my progess and struggles posted here and hope to hear from other Mom's. We can do it for our families and for  ourselves.

Thanks for listening....Maribell

I'm glad you posted, 3 skinny cows is still better than a hot fudge sundae or milk shake.  I'm in the same weight situation, only DS is almost a year.  I'm so frustrated w/ myself for having gained all this weight & not having lost it yet.  I was between 135 - 145 pre pregnancy & pretty happy with my weight.  When I got pregnant I was 145, and I went all the way up to 210!  I've managed to lose 25 pounds, but have been stuck at 185 for the last 6 months.  I know I need to motivate myself, but I've never had to lose more than 10 - 15 pounds.  I don't even know where to start trying to lose 40 - 50 pounds.  If there was a board to check in with other moms who were going through the same thing I think it would help a lot.

Wow it is so nice to see other moms in this situation! I have been never been really skinny; I've hung around 140-150 since high school. I knew I could stand to lose a little weight but I wasn't unhealthily obese so I never bothered. I was 150 lbs when I got pregnant and got up to almost 200 lbs while pregnant. This had me a little concerned since I had gained almost twice what my books said I was supposed to gain, but my doctor wasn't worried and I'd been told nursing helps with losing weight after giving birth. I stopped nursing my son a little over a year after delivery and stepped on the scale. I was shocked to find out I was still 170 lbs. Finally I knew I had to take action so I started the SlimFast diet (this was last November). I am happy to say I am back to 150 lbs, but I'd like to get down to 130 by the summer. Right now I've hit a plateau. Life has stepped in and made it a lot harder to stick to the diet lately, but things have calmed down a bit and I'm ready to get back on track. It'll be so nice to have the support of other moms who are going throught the same thing! :) I love the idea of using this forum for baby talk too. ^_^ (Like have you guys seen the recalls on all infant cold medicines that contain antihistimines because they can cause "rare but serious side effects" in children under 2 years? How scary, and everyone in my family is dealing with colds right now too).

This is so awesome! I decided to check this site out since I just started Slim Fast yesterday and I am thrilled! I love the whole site, and I'm even more excited to see this thread! I'm trying loose baby weight, and...all over weight so I appreciate having a place like this to be held accountable! I'm going to try super hard to stick to my new routine!

I posted a blog on my account about my baby situation. I had a premature baby 6 months ago and its been a struggle every day since to do anything besides get out of bed and take care of my son! I was so sick from that pregnancy that I am just now beginning to feel better!!!

So thanks for listening, I'm sure I will have tons to type. If anyone else has a premature child I would love to hear from you! Sometimes I like to just run by where my little man is at developmentally to other children his age! :-)

 hey all,

i am a bit of a double new mom. i have a 18 month old and a 1 month old. now unlike the others i have read here i have NEVER been a smal person. before my son , the 18 month old, i was 175 and on a diet (this one). For some reason though i can carry it and people think i am 145ish. now i am 200 after two in a row and boy howdy can you tell i need to get in shape. my stomache, thighs, and hips exploded!! I am starting the diet today and hope to lose 30 lbs by summer as well as keep going to reash the desired 125 that i am supposed to be.

my motivation: remembering what i looked like in the store when i tryed on clothes that used to look great on me. they showed every single roll and curve through the shape of the fabric, and it was just a black skirt!! hated it won't have will get back into shape.

if i can do it WE ALL can do it.

Wow, looks like there's a bunch of us in the same baby boat. :O)   I've started walking with my son at the mall a few times a week in his stroller (since the weather here in NY is crummy) to get in some exercise. It's so hard to fit in any kind of exercise with a 6 month old, but I figure this is a start.  I also bought a step counter on ebay to keep track of how much walking I'm doing each day, just running around the house and doing errands etc.  I'm going to try to get my step count up to 10,000 which is what they recommend, but I think I'm at something like 5 or 6,000.

My son is a big baby (24 lbs/30 inches long) at 6 months old so you'd think carrying him around would count as exercise, but so far all that's doing is giving me a bad back. hahah

I'm glad we have a bunch of mommies here trying to lose the baby weight.  To me it feels like a whole different kind of weight loss than I've had to lose in the past.  I really had no idea when I got pregnant how HARD it would be to lose this weight, and how MUCH my body would change afterwards!  I tell my girlfriends all the time that my post pregnant body should be used as birth control posters for young girls LOLOL

Hello other moms!  I am trying to lose new baby weight and old baby weight!  I had two boys 18 months apart!  I thought it was tough the first time around, but now 6 months after having the second one...YICK!  I am a mess!  I was having a hard time eating...I would snack and snack and snack!  So I finally said to myself, stop this you must lose weight.  I want to be an example to my kids.  I want them to know that its a lifestyle to eat healthy and exercise.  I just started the slim fast diet plan Saturday the 2nd.  I haven't seen any significant weight lose yet, but I know I just started.  Good luck to you all!

Hello ladies,

I'm a 40 yo mother who just had baby #3 in August. With him going on 6 mo now, I figure it's time to lose this weight. I'm 5'8' and weighed 139 when I got preggo--was feeling great and wearing my "skinny jeans." I gained a whopping 56 pounds with this pregnancy, lost 26 since August with nursing, etc., but still need to lose 30 to get back into my pre-preg clothes. I just started Slimfast Monday and am so glad to have found other moms here like me. Reading your stories inspires me to stay on track. Thanks and keep posting.

I can understand what you all are going throught, i just had my third child and weight in at a wopping 220.  ten of which was water weight.  So far i have managed to lose 32.5 pounds in the last four weeks. So far i from what i have read you should weight yourself everyday it keeps you motivated and that is true. Also drink tons of water, more than eight cups, and make sure you are going to the bathroom.  And to the mother that find it easier to stop and buy all the fast food just remind yourself of your goal and it will become easier.  And you can also keep that money and buy some of the good slimfast snacks( chocolat nougat bars).  And believe me i know it is very hard because im getting use to not eating bad food and drinking water.  I am so amazed at how much weight i have lost so far, i just have another 37.5 pounds before my wedding day to be the size i want to be before we have another baby.  And before you look at this saying what the heck is wrong with her.  My last daughter born January 20 st eight months was stillborn from a rare condition me and my husband have the trait of. And my daughter a two year old needs a playmate and should have the opprotunity to have that chance.

If you need a buddy(lovemybaby02) just look me up or reply on here. Im always here, i need all the motivation i can get until i can go to the gym.

Hi!

I just joined today.  My baby was a year old on Feb. 1, but I still have nearly all of the weight I gained when I was pregnant.  We're planning on trying for a second one later this year, so I need to lose some of this weight now!  I've had some success in the past doing a combination of Weight Watchers and Slim Fast, so hopefully it will work again.  My big problems are snacking at work and portion control at home (hubby is a great cook).

 Cheers,

Alison
