I was on the treadmill yesterday thinking (what else is there to do while on one of those things?) and realized that I've reached my 30 lb weight loss I resolved to lose this past new year's (195 down to 162) So I was thinking I would probably make a similar resolution this coming new year.... But then I realized I have time to lose that weight NOW, and be my goal weight of 135 or 130 by then, freeing myself up to focus on bigger and better things. So I was thinking of starting a group with that goal in mind: To not put off til New Year's what we can do today =) This group is for people who want to strive to reach their goal weight by December 31, 2008, and start off 2009 at a healthy weight. We will start officially on September 1, giving us four full months to reach our goals. I'm really excited about this, so if you share my enthusiasm and are really ready to reach your goal, please join me in this group!
A little about me.... I'm 5'5, 162 lbs, SAHM of two ages 1 and 2 1/2, ready to be sexy and not look like "just" a mommy all the time =) I love Slim-Fast because it helps me stay in my calorie count. I sometimes need extra motivation to exercise every day, so that's why I love these forums. I'm looking forward to meeting some more people who want to start 2009 off NOT worrying about their weight =)
OMG !!!
I just said the same thing today. I'm there with you. We are almost identical. I am at 151 and trying to get to 121. I'm 2inches shorter than you at 5'0 (they say 5lbs per inch) so we actually weigh about the same with the same goal in mind. I was thinking that I wanted to BRING in the new year as the new sexy me.
Hi! Newbie here...as I was configuring my info last night I thought about my "goal" being New Years Day and where I would/could be if I stay on "program".
At 5'10" and 190 and age 52 the estimate was 34 pounds by 1-1-2009. Which would mean a wonderful 156!!
I was able to be a SAHM for 5 kids (blended family) and have a thriving child care business with a license for 14 children. Kids are my passion...which is a good thing because we are on grandchild number 6 arriving in February!
I just "retired" from the business (actually passed it on to my daughter) due to my wonderful DH (darling husband) have a rare form of leukemia. I spend a lot of time going from dr to hospital (for transfusions) and we are patiently waiting for his cells to replenish so we can get to UCLA for a bone marrow transplant.
I am so excited to be "healthy" and energetic at the BEGINNING of 2009!
Thanks for starting this thread...Monica
Natasha, I'm so glad to meet you!! It's great to have someone in a similar place to help you through. And it's probably not going to be so easy, with the holiday season coming up. We have to get through Thanksgiving and Christmas losing weight =) I really think we can do it, though; starting off a new year looking fabulous is a great goal worth working for =)
Monica, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. Sounds like you have a very challenging few months ahead of you on several levels. You must have a wonderful family because you are so optimistic and have such a great outlook. We'll be here to help you through it.
I'm getting so excited! For the past three years, I was either the pregnant or breastfeeding woman sitting on the couch during the festivities. This year, I'm going to be the hot momma dancing and having fun!! =)
Shaina~you GO Girl!
I think the dancing is the best part! I can see you now having a glorious time at all the wonderful holiday events!
We have the determination and attitude to achieve our goals--so you, Natasha and I are going to kick some booty in 2008!
Today is the start of a new week...
Tomorrow is the start of a new month...
Each choice I make is a new "me"!
What a great attitude, Monica. Did you manage to make good food choices yesterday? I have to admit, I did well until I got to my parent's house. My dad is a junk food junkie (I inherited it, apparently) so he broke out the ice cream after dinner and fixed me an extra-big bowl so I could share with my kids =) Setting a bad example, I know.... BUT I have been extra-good today. Fiber One with skim milk for breakfast and a salad and protein water for lunch =) And I'm planning on going to the gym for at least an hour this afternoon. I'm going to try really hard to post a 2 pound weight loss next week!

paulette
Hello, I really need motivation too! I have a hard time sticking with any plan.
I am 5ft. 4in. and currently weigh 150. Would like to lose the belly and be at least 135.
I have a 7, 10 and 14 year old so with them all back to school no more excuses.
New year, new body, sounds great!
My goal to reach by christmas/new years is to be down by at least 32 pounds....that is a reasonable 2 pounds a week between now and then and im sure that i can manage it. I started at 220 pounds and that would put me at 188 pounds. That would be the smallest i have been since high school! Man that makes me sooo ready for christmas! Good luck everyone and may God bless you and your husband Monica! :) Misty
Hi everyone,
I'll follow the leader (Shaina ;)) and join in here, too. As of today, I'm 5'8" x 158. I would like to get down to 140-145 that I used to be before I got married. With 4 more months to go, this should work, eh?
Thumbs up to you ladies for being so enthusiastic!
:)
I lost a little weight this week! I'm down to 160.5! I am so excited, because I just know I will be in the 150's by the end of this week! =) First time seeing that in a looooong time =) Actually, since my weight started climbing during my first pregnancy, so almost 3 years!! Wow, time flies.... My younger baby's first birthday was this weekend =) Of course, I had a piece of Sesame Street cake and a little ice cream, but I had it with a Slim-Fast shake and counted it as my lunch. Not really healthy, or sensible for that matter, but I was just aiming to stay within my calorie limit =) The weather is finally starting to cool off here, so I'm excited to be spending more time outside. I don't know if anyone else here lives in Arkansas or nearby, but if you do you'll know what I mean when I say summertime is too hot and muggy here to spend much of it outside, unless you're in a pool!! Especially if you've got some extra pounds on you =) I won't have that problem next summer though, and I'm planning on wearing some cute little sweaters this winter, and maybe even *gasp* (dare I say it??) a bikini next summer! =)
I weighed myself again today (I really need to stop doing it so often!) but I'm down to 158.8!! I've been working out so hard the past few days, and I just wanted to see if it would register on the scale. I'm so excited to be in the 150's!! I'm having the best week ever =) Well, since I started my diet, anyway =) I've been pushing myself so hard on the treadmill, and I upped the weights I use on my exercises.... How's everybody else doing in the exercise department this week? I just want to encourage you to really push yourselves! It's giving me some really good results =)
Hi All! CAN I JUMP IN?
I'm Catherine! Age 41, mother of four (18,13,7,3) and a SAHM. I've sloowwwly lost 10 lbs. in the last 6 months. I plateaued when I lost my buddies and the SF site went down. My ht. is 5'3" and I'm at 143 lbs. My goal is to start losing again and join you all in the New Years's Resolution! I know with support I can reach my goal by Jan. 1, 2009 of 128 lbs. That is only 15 lbs so who knows. Maybe I'll reach it earlier but when I was losing before it was about 1 lb. a wk. If I can join you all I will help support you in return.
Smiles, Catherine
Count me in too! I am Beth and a SAHM to a 4 year old boy. I started loosing weight the middle of June but was not excercising so I only lost 2 lbs in June. I started walking on my treadmill in July and since I got really serious I have lost 23 lbs. I am up 4 lbs from Saturday because of Aunt Flo so I am not that happy right now. But, I know it will all come off when she goes away DANG HER!
So, my goal is 130 and I am (or was on Saturday) 145. I think I can do 15 lbs in 4 months. I would really like to lose 10 lbs in 5 weeks because we are going to the beach in October.
Today I have eaten: breakfast - 1 cup fat free plain yogurt and 14 natural almonds, lunch: broiled salmon with seafood seasoning and 2 pieces of whole wheat toast, dinner: marinated broiled salmon and a spinach salad with light dressing and tomatoes. After I walk I am going to eat grapes. I am so excited to join you ladies!
Glad to have you all joining us!! Liz, what a great job on your diet yesterday! I wish I could say I did that well yesterday =) I started today off right though, with a SF shake, and you just inspired me to really watch what I eat today. I've been staying within my calorie limit of a strict 1200, but lately I've been squeezing in junk food and not eating as many veggies. You just gave me the kick in the butt I needed =) 15 lbs doesn't seem like a lot, but I've heard it gets harder the closer you get to your goal. Doesn't really seem to be the case for you though, so I'm pretty sure you'll be able to lose those 10 lbs in time for your beach vacay. What fun, to be skinny at the beach =) I'm very excited to have so many people in the group! I know if we all work together we can all be skinny by New Year's =)
