Well, my check-in today is good and bad news.  I was good yesterday and did yoga and strength training on the WiiFit, then did 15 minutes on the elliptical trainer.  I am trying to follow the SlimFast plan for breakfast and lunch, and then have a healthy dinner of my choosing.  So I had a good breakfast and lunch, then went to work and "fell off the wagon" and mindlessly said "yes" to the ice cream run someone made!  I could kick myself!  I did, though, realize what I had done and went to the grocery store and got some healthy items, and got home and had baked fish, roasted cauliflower and a salad for dinner.  Today is a new day and I'll try to do better.  Thanks for your stories, everyone's input helps out a lot, I think.

Picolat don't beat yourself up over a tiny little slide.  We're all going to give in to cravings and temptations.  It sounds like you have done well.  You are incorporating a good healthy diet and exercise.

Well I began my diet on Sunday morning.  That gives me five days of dieting.  I know the initial loss is typically water weight, but it's encouraging none the less.  I do a slim fast bar each morning, fruit for a snack, typically lunch is a green salad topped with a little low fat cheese and grilled/herbed chicken that I prepared earlier in the week and sliced up, to fulfill my desire for carbs I've been alternating with a pasta and salmon salad (light mayo with celery - boneless, skinless salmon packed in water), afternoon again a fruit and a handful of ranch quaker mini rice cakes.  In the evening, I am doing a serving of protein - meat about the size of the palm of my hand, and a veggie and or fruit.  I am cutting down on caffeine, but will have an unsweetened tea or soft drink occasionally, otherwise I am doing water and sometimes mixing in a sugar free packet of lemonade for my sweet tooth.  I have walked two evenings a nice pace at the high school track - thirty minutes or a mile whichever comes first and ridden my bike with the grandsons.  Now the weigh in.

I stepped on the scales Sunday at 160 pounds.  I am just over 5'1" almost 5'2" but not quite in my bare feet.  My chart says I am 40-50 pounds overweight for my height and my BMI was 29.7 - just .3 shy of the serious problem range.  Well this morning I weighed in at 155 pounds.  I have lost a total of 5 pounds and am extremely proud.  I know that hereafter the drop will be less, but the initial loss made me extremely happy.  I have not been hungry, but I still have cravings.  Thanks everyone for keeping me in line.

We have heard from Picolat and myself.  Looking for Snapples, Senior Citizen and Glenbury.

Have a great day all.

Good Morning Everyone.............Ok here is a good quote off of one of my sites for all  of us........"  You can't change the past, so change the future "   I am still sticking with weigh in day today....I actually began last Sunday, however I did not want to see my weight at that time.......so begining today my goal is to shoot for a 5 pound loss.   Let me get there first.....This is my all time high...191....and I do not want to see these numbers ever again!!!!    I welcome all of you to be honest with yourselves about approching this with dillegence toward making a healthier and happier you.   As I said in one of my other posts about working with a nutritionalist, the information gained is worth every penny spent.   As I told Nana...earlier...good example,  whatever you eat remember to put a protein with it and a fruit or veg., it will balance the body chemistry and help to process the fuel to burn it off quicker than eating the ice cream alone.      Also, another great tip...she said everyone has to have a down time...if you give yourself a 3 hour window any day you choose and the 3 hours have to be all together...eat anything you want in that frame of time..you will be more likely to survive a new way of eating during the other days.   It really works, I have done it, I usually I pick a Sat. as generally that's a day when my schedule is in a more social  mode...give it a try...but remember it doesn't mean open the fridge at 3 and just consume everything in there until 6...Its a grace period for all your hard work ....like eating out...if you want that big mac, or something you just have a craving for this is the time...and only that time.   So Picolat you fell off the wagon, that was yesterday, this is today. You got caught up in a moment where you didn't take time to think, then react, and then say could you get me a yogurt..?      All about decisions we make in everyday life.       So new day, new us, lets make it happen and all share how we got there.   The weekend just happens to be two odd days they call Sat. and Sun..and it freaks everyone out........lets make a challenge to get through the weekend with a success story to tell one another.    Lets be the most positive posts here on SlimFast.........Happy Healthy Friday,  Glenbury from Fla.

hi everyone,

am i late to weigh in ? may be i need to learn to get up before the birds do.

read all the posts here. Picolate don"t even worry about that ice cream you ate, i have been through that. once i ordered at  hy-vee dinner instead of getting salad bars i had them serve me boy , my mouth hung open when i seen the servings, i told her i wasnt to have that much, but you knew what she said "you deserve this just once , don"t even think about this or worry about it, enjoy your meal." guess what i am still alive.

i did all my exercises when i got up so they are done and iam free to do something else, any way i did 30min. of strength training, which i just started 24th/ . then i did 30 min. of walking on my treadmill.

today for my meals i am having-ihad slimfast shake

lunch its a shake again and  a open turkey sandwich and 1/2 cup of veggies

Hi,

I started July 14 at 189.

On July 21, I was 185 and today I am 184.  I am using the menus as a guide and am managing to stick pretty close to the calorie allowance.

Am feeling fine & energetic and exercised 5 days for 30 mins. at Curves.

Drinking as much water as I can.

So far, I am still enthused about this plan and think this challenge will help us stay on plan.

Am pulling for all of us to succeed.

Senior Citizen, that is great.  I did curves at one point and really did great with my stamina, inches lost and weight lost.  Unfortunately at the time I had not yet retired and the local curves had really odd hours.  They opened after I had to be at work in the morning and closed by 5:30 each evening.  They stayed open from 8-10 and then opened back up at 2:00-5:30  I could get by for thirty minutes in the afternoons if I took my clothes to work with me and hustled to get there, but it was difficult so I finally gave up.  They're under new ownership now so I need to check and see if they have changed the hours.  I'm retired now, but I keep my twin grandsons for my daughter to work.  I'd still have a problem getting there during odd hours because I can't take the boys with me but it was a wonderful program.

Thanks to everyone for reporting in.  I'd love to hear any hints or suggestions you might have throughout the week.  I think the best part of this group is that we can motivate and cheer each other on.

Have a great weekend!

hi everyone.  i just joined the slimfast site.  i'm turning 50 in september and am finding it difficult to lose weight.  i've never had to lose this much before.  when did it creep on?  i'm 5ft2in and weigh 160lbs.  i am finding it difficult to be consistant with exercising.  i also fell off the eating healthy wagon for the past month.   i've eaten alot of junk lately and know why i've been feeling yuck.  i've printed out my next weeks worth of meal plans with recipes and will try to follow it closely.  work is a hazard as the drug reps bring alot of unhealthy food to the office.  even the reps with diabetic drugs bring donuts!!!  luckily, beginning in 2009 they will be unable to "treat" us and that stuff won't be in the office.  i'm planning on walking both saturday and sunday and also doing some weight work one of the days as well as going out to mow the lawn!!  i'm so glad to have discovered this site.  i'm looking forward to chatting with you all!

Welcome Carol.  We now have six in our challenge.  Our goals are to take it one week at a time and focus on weekly goals in order to reach our overall goal.  We're doing our weigh ins or reporting how our week goes on Friday, but checking in each day for suggestions and tips, i.e. the food diary posted just prior to you and the suggestions on combining protein, carbs and veggies/fruit to make the body work harder and thus burn more calories.  I started just this past Sunday myself.  I'm just a teensy bit shy of the 5'2 mark and weighed in on Sunday at 160 pounds, so it seems like you and I are pretty much on the same course.  My first five days with the diet and exercise I lost 5 pounds.  I know initial weight loss is the most and that hereafter it will be much less.  That's why I sought out this site.  I needed others to help keep me in line and motivated.  Welcome aboard and we all look forward to talking with you and hearing of your progress and boosting you when you might need encouragement.

Hey there Carol...welcome...and Hi Snapples........yes I write everything that goes into my mouth on the log here..it is a wonderful tool for us to use.   I love how it calculates and keeps track of what amt. you should be eating..almost like some sort of alarm...   Visually seeing those numbers that make up the look of your body.    I am most successful when doing this.

Carol, you found the right group, everyone here is positive about changing ourselves.   Feel free to get on board, we are going to weigh in on Fridays.   If the junk food is in your house, the next place it will be is in your mouth...give it away  ASAP...   I am now addicted to match stick carrots...they are such a refreshing snack...and so cute to handle and eat.   I also cut up my celery into interesting pieces, so strange how just making something look pretty it actually tastes better.......plus I usually put it in a pretty dish to make it be special.     Treat yourself like a Queen and you will be surprised at how your attitude toward everything in life will change for the better.    Looking forward to chatting somemore another time..wishing you a great start to a new you...and a new friendship with all of us here......Think beautiful and you will be beautiful ........Chat soon,  Glenbury from Fla.

Well, I made it through my first weekend without too much cheating.  In fact, I was pretty proud of myself.  My sister does a lot of gardening and canning of fruits and veggies.  She sent me a quart of her homemade vegetable soup which is so good.  Typically I would have made cornbread or eaten a ton of crackers with the soup but I was able to put that notion aside and enjoy the flavor of the soup.  Soup alone was not my hubbie's idea of a meal so he made a trip to Hardee's for their Prime Rib thick burger, fries and a shake.  That aroma nearly killed me, but even when he offered me a bite I declined.  I knew it would be my downfall if I did.  Instead I broke my own calorie count somewhat, but to offset that craving, I went to my tried and true need for carbs and put on a small serving of shell pasta, took some frozen peeled shrimp that I keep in the freezer, added a touch of margerine, a little olive oil, garlic, parsley, cajun seasoning and one small dollop of light sour cream to make a serving of shrimp pasta.  By making only a single serving for myself and watching my portions I kept the calorie intake to a minimum, yet was able to kill the craving for the burger by making something that I really liked instead.  The 1/2 cup pasta put me at 200 calories, the 1/2 cup shrimp at 35, the dollop of sour cream 30, and the smidgen of margerine and oilive oil (just enough to add flavor to the shrimp) another 30.  The garlic and parsley - negligible.  Instead of a diet busting 2000 or more calories, I managed to push away my cravings for a mere 300 calories.  I consider it a break in my slimfast regime since I had already had my meal - the homemade soup and a optima shake, but if I had not given in and made something I liked to stave off that craving for the burger I would have headed back to Hardees and blown my whole day - I guess my diet tip in all of this is to know and have something on hand that you like and can prepare in a short time.  This way you can substitute when someone is offering you something that's hard to resist and not totally blow your diet plan.

I just started and I'm trying to lose 15 lbs. I've done this before and quit.  I have no willpower.  Maybe this time I can stay with it. It will be nice to keep in touch and compare results.  I really do want to lose the weight and keep it off.  That's my biggest problem.  Keeping it off.
