I have an adorable 4 month old baby boy and I am bigger than I have ever been in my life. I weighed myself just now and am tipping the scales at 210, quite a load for my 5'3" frame. While pregnant, I got up to about 230 I think it was and now I am ready to get the rest of this off. Long term, I'd like to lose about 80 lbs.

So here, I am, tired of still wearing maternity jeans, tired of still wearing my fiance's shirts, 25 years old and scared of how much it hurts to go up the stairs. I wake up every morning and my feet ache when I take those first steps out of bed. I developed some horrendous eating habits during pregnancy, and those along with hormonal ups and downs and the stress of balancing a baby, my fiance's 5 1/2 year old daughter, working part time and going to school full time have resulted in a gorgeous physique.

This weight is holding me back in every aspect of my life and I am ready to lose it and set a good example for my son!

starting 2moro!!

hi i am 23 married with two girls...i am hoing to get back to my pre

I was 135 in high school (when I met my husband) and got all the way up to 220 when I was pregnant with my first child. I got down to 175 and then got pregnant with my daughter. She'll be 6 months soon and I've still got quite a lot hanging on. Has anyone else tried the slim fast plan while nursing? Are there any modifications to be made to the plan to account for the calories needed for nursing?

Hey Mama's, did you know...?

Hi to all the mommies :) and congratulations to you all for moving forwards in your quest to a healthier body and life style. I just had my 5th child and am now ok to begin working out again, so I included Slim Fast as my dietary moniter because it is too easy to focus on making the kids healthy meals, but snack off of junk food myself. I wanted to let you all know that in case you were considering breastfeeding, it can help you to loss weight. Many people think that breastfeeding helps to loss weight because of the calories burned by the milk making process; this is not exactly true. Breastfeeding takes about 200 calories a day to produce and nurse. The real weightloss comes from the fat that your body takes to include in the breastmilk. Breastmilk has fat essential for baby's development. That fat is taken from the mother's body from fat storage centers (think belly, hips, thighs) and added to the milk for baby. Studies show that women who breastfeed have lost more weight by 6 months post-partum than mothers who did not breastfeed. So, if you are considering breastfeeding, this is another benefit to nursing that it can give to you.

Good luck to you all :)

I see this is a new thread, and I figured I'd start the ball rolling. Anyone else out there trying to lose their baby weight? I had my son 6 months ago in July and gained a whopping 70 lbs while I was pregnant. When I got married and before I got pregnant I was comfortable around 135-145 (I always fluctuated). My skinny weight when I was younger was 125 or 130, but as I got older I was happy with 135/140.

Now, 6 months after my son was born I've lost only 25 lbs and I'm weighing in at 190! I started the slim fast program last week and managed to lose 5 1/2 lbs so far. I want to lose at least 30 lbs before the summer. It's been so difficult, mostly because I have never had to lose this much... whenever I've had to lose weight before it was maybe 10-15 lbs and I can do that in a month or so. Losing 45 or 50 lbs is a big time commitment and it seems like FOREVER, which makes it hard for me to stick with it...

After a while, when I am stressed, I always go back to junk food and McDonalds!! And with the stress of taking care of house, a teething 6 month old and a teenager, two dogs, and a part time job, I find myself grabbing whatever's around to eat. Last night when my husband was at work, the baby is crying (teething bad), my little dog ran away, and I'm online trying to pay bills, so I ended up eating THREE Skinny Cow Ice Cream sandwiches from stress! (even though they are low fat/low cal, I'm sure 3 per day is not the recommended amount LOL)

Anyhoo... if there's any other new mommies, maybe we can start a board for support and weigh ins and all that fun stuff. (And, I figure we can use the board to do baby chat stuff too).

Feel free to add me to your buddies if you are interested. :)

I'm starting this diet plan tomorrow! I have a 10 month old baby, and my husband is in the Army. I have a lot of obstacles to overcome, so I hope that I don't lose motivation.

I weighed 160 in high school (healthy weight for me), and now weigh about 260. I haven't lost any weight since having my daughter. None. I wasn't able to breastfeed her. Plus, living in Alaska, it's hard to find nice weather to get out and exercise in... so I have 100 pounds to lose :(

I suffer from severe postpartum depression and I'm on medication for it, which I know will hinder my weight loss.

With my husband being in the Army, he is gone a lot. I think that this has caused a lot of my weight gain- when he is gone, I get bored (or lonely) and eat. I know that I make bad food choices, and I'm hoping to change that!

Just wanted to type all this out and see if anyone is in the same boat as I am. It's so hard trying to lose weight in general, especially after having a baby!

First time mom with Diabetes

Hi,

I was a diabetic even before my daughter was born. I was in excellent shape prior to getting married and getting pregnant. Then things turned for the worse. I could not control my sugars and my daughter was born a macro baby. (meaning large baby at birth because of having some of my sugars). Ever since then my health has just deteriorated. I hope that able to become the person that I used to be before pregnancy. I know many thing wont be the same, but I am hoping I can reach the best heath possible.

I'm a father of two beautiful boys, ages 8 months and 21 months. I used to be in great shape back in high school but it seems that a combination of sedentary job/lifestyle, busy home life with my sons, and bad eating habits have pushed me about 40 lbs heavier than my target weight (60 lbs more than I used to weigh in high school). I'm only 25 but starting to have issues with my joints and back problems. I just started the Slim Fast diet today and joined a new gym so I can do some cardio. I want to lose the weight for me, but more importantly for my boys. I get tired chasing them around and they are so young, when they get a little older I want to be able to play ball with them without being totally out of breath the whole time. I also just found out that I have really high blood pressure, so its kind of scary to think if I continue down this path I might not be around to see them have kids of their own. I've tried getting back in shape so many times and failed, its so hard to stop the overeating...its like I can never get full! I'm hoping to get it right this time. Glad to meet all of you who have posted here and thanks for reading!

First time mom !

I am a first time mom to a beautiful and wild ! 10 month old boy, for the first 6 months of his life he suffored from colic, we could not leave the house the whole spring and summer, this put me into a post pardom depression I never thought I would recover from. When I looked at her I didn’t not immediately think mother. But I look at myself, and I see a mother. I’m not that old. I am only 27. And I am not fat. I am currently a size 4. (I am heavy for me). However, when I am looking for clothes I have some major problems. Having a 6 month old nursing daughter means that I need clothes that offer easy care (no dry clean). Plus, I am top heavy. I am a 34G. I was an F cup before getting pregnancy. And it is difficult find bras in my size and even harder to find nursing bras. Plus, nursing bras, and any most bras in my size are ugly (my husband calls them pots and pans) and they limit the type of clothes I can wear. I simply cannot go without a bra. And while I am by top-heavy, I have absolutely no rear end. I have butt minus. Plus, I am only 5’ 2”.

sorry for the long post!!!!

My husband and I have been married for almost 9 years, and I have gained 53.5 pounds since we got married, I feel most of it is due to eating in response ro work-related stress. I am realizing that I am using food for comfort, and I need to stop doing that.

Anyway, my husband and I would like to have a baby in the next year or so, and I don't want to try to get pregnant until I have lost at least 33.5 pounds.

So far, I have lost 3 pounds toward my goal. I lost the most this week when I started increasing the amount of workouts on the elliptical trainer at the gym. also, I know that Slim Fast has helped. I like it because i is an easy way to count calories.

Is anyone else trying to lose weight for a pregnancy?

Stretch Marks....

I didnt have any stretch marks until I had my baby.
My stomach turned, i wasnt felling too hot. I felt like I was really hungry ALL day, and it didnt matter how much I was eating I wasnt getting full.

I ate what I thought would fill me up more, my downfall, PASTA.

At first I really wanted to stay on the wagon so I drank so much water to see if it would help. It didnt. I dont know what happend, I have been on slimfast before and nothing like this has ever happend. Maybe I had a stomach bug that presented itself as hunger...I have no idea. Anyone have any thoughts or encouraging words? Im just so devestated, I was doing so well.

I have a 3 month 1 day old baby boy, I'm nursing, and I just started slimfast.

It seems that right out of the hospital I dropped 25 pounds, but then that was it! Nothing came off for weeks! The reason I started slimfast was because I was so busy and tired with the baby that I would skip meals, then I would be STARVING so I would rummage the kitchen and put anything convienent in my belly, read: cookies, snickers, ice cream bars, chips. So at least with this program I can make myself an easy shake, eat a snack bar, or eat a meal bar while I'm nursing, and in 2 weeks I've lost my first 4 pounds! I'm so excited. (I gained 51 pounds during my pregnancy)

I'm glad I found this site/forum because I need all the help I can get, esp. to remind me to drink my water. blah. :)

Lifestyle change

I'm a 28 year old mom of 2, 17 1/2 months and 2 1/2 weeks. I only gained 10 lbs with the second child; not very easily by the way. Needless to say I now have about 100 lbs to lose. I have never been this heavy in my life.
