I gained back 2 lbs recently! (ugh!) I'm 5'8" and started SF at 176, and currently weigh 169. Basically I lose 1 lb a week until recently. Last year I gained 15 lbs! (emotional eater!)

When I don't have time to cook, I eat Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice dinners. I think most of them are under 500 cal. When I started the plan I was eating a meal bar for brkfst, meal bar & half a sandwich at lunch, 500 cal dinner and 3 snacks throughout the day. I eat the 100 cal snacks, yogurt, popcorn, or fruit. For my chocolate cravings I eat a SF snack bar, fat-free chocolate pudding, or chocolate rice cakes. And sometimes I eat half of a candy bar & let hubby eat the rest! LOL!

I wanted to let all of you know that there is an awesome thread under the "staying motivated" forum for 50 & up people. I read a few of the messages and they are a very dedicated, positive group of ladies! Very encouraging to each other and very welcoming of newcomers. :)

When I exercise, I walk around my neighborhood vs going to a gym. It gives me a LOT of energy and I need that to chase my toddler! haha! (I'm almost 40) I have a few dvd's of Leslie Sansone called "walk a Mile" and they are GREAT! But I enjoy walking outdoors and try to go 2 miles, when I can. I wish each one of you the very BEST success with your weigh loss efforts!! Each of us CAN DO THIS!! When you gain weight like I did, DON'T QUIT....start over the next day and "forgive" yourself. I think the key to losing weight is forgiving ourselves and starting back over the next day! Leigh :)

I am a grandmother of 4 too and I turned 55 this year as well. I am so very uncomfortable with my weight right now. I went to Curves about 2 years ago and got down to a size 12 a felt so good about my self. Well I canceled and put in a new kitchen and then something happened before I knew it I was up to a size 18. I just signed up tonight to do something good for myself. I need some encouragement too. So maybe we can help each other. I work full time and I don't have time to fix alot of cooked foods. I need easy and not much time to prepare foods. My husband has diabetes and I have been watching our foods closely. But the weight just will not come off. I need to get some activity in my day. Was on Slim-Fast along time ago. But never had the luxury of the computer then and the tools they have now. Looking to start a new routine for my health as well as my husbands.

Re: 61 yr. old grandma looking for support

Hi,

About 10 years ago, I lost 70 pounds by eating sensibly, cutting down on fat, drinking losts of water and EXERCISING or WALKING everyday. I was doing well and I told a friend, "if I ever go back to the way I was eating- kick me." Well, I did and she didn't so 10 years later here I am, not heavier than ever but defiinitely in the worse shape of my life, I took my measurements on Monday and whoaaaaaa- not pretty! I've never had an accurate self-image of myself and was really surprised to be that big (in numbers). So Monday started the diet for the rest of my life--I usually don't last this long but I haven't felt hungry and I feel good exercising. I have 2 herniated discs in my back and when I'm hurting I don't want to move. I've walked 30 minutes and was surprised that I could last that long AND function at work that night, (I work 4 hours -standing- at a pharmacy). We have grown-ups and a 7-yr old in the house so I have alot of housework I like gardening too, And reading, but I'm saving that for evenings.I'd love to hear from you.

Re: 61 yr. old grandma looking for support

Hi, hope things are going well for you today. The chiropractor says that I have a slight curve to the spine that will bring pain but I know from experience the heavier I get the more trouble I seem to have with my back. I don't mind getting older, I would just like to feel good and have some energy again. I know that if I could get 50 lbs. off, I would feel like a spring chicken again, ha!As for the Slimfast, I do pretty good during the day. My hubby has a big bowl of ice cream or something every night and I struggle with eating something healthy while he is scarfing down his 1000 calorie treat.
