So I'm nursing my second child and plan on continuing until she has decided she's finished but at least until 12 mo (so July at the least) I know nursing burns an extra 300-500 calories a day but I've been STUCK at 187 since I had her. I was 135 in high school (when I met my husband) and got all the way up to 220 when I was pregnant with my first child. I got down to 175 and then got pregnant with my daughter. She'll be 6 months soon and I've still got quite a lot hanging on. Has anyone else tried the slim fast plan while nursing? Are there any modifications to be made to the plan to account for the calories needed for nursing?
From what I've read and heard you should NOT do SlimFast while breastfeeding. You need the extra calories for your baby. My weight never dropped while breastfeeding, so everyone is different. But you need those calories if you want to breastfeed your baby for a year, otherwise your supply will dwindle. I would just recommend walking with your baby or some other form of excerise and just eat healthy well rounded meals, but no dieting.
As tough as it is to carry around the extra weight, it's better right now if you just focus on your baby and do the best you can without dieting and SlimFast.
Good luck!
