I was able to turn down seconds!! Yeah!!! What I did was actually a tip on the slim fast site....I fixed my husband and my plates, and then immediately put the leftovers in the refridgerator. It worked, too.
As far as how many calories I intook, I really don't know. :) To be honest, I wasn't counting. I probably should. I don't want to crash and burn in a few days...I feel like I'm doing so good.
I'll keep you posted at week one! Thanks!
~Melissa
Hey girl!! Sounds like you're doing a GREAT job! :) Were you able to turn down the seconds?? If not, theres just ONE tiny thing I want to say, and I don't mean this negatively or in a know-it-all type of way AT ALL, but MAKE SURE you eat the right amount of calories each day. It SOUNDS from what you've said that you didn't have many at ALL during the day (maybe 900 or so, maybe less!) and I just know from experience that if you don't eat enough for a few days, you will eventually get SUPER hungry, eat everything in sight, and feel like CRAP for "failing". I tried to go from about 3,000 calories per day to 1,200 automatically when I started, and needless to say, it did NOT work. Don't think a THING about it if you have to step it down a little more gradually. This is a BIG change that you have a looooong time to get just right, so take small steps and don't rush yourself :)
That being said, if you ARE in a good range where you feel comfortable, then you are doing a wonderful job, and I can't wait to hear how your first week goes :)
Dear Shaina,
Thank you so much for your response. Today is day the first day of eating better, but I have done well! For breakfast I had the recommended size portion of cereal with skim milk. For a snack, I had a handful of nuts and a piece of string cheese. For lunch I had two turkey sandwiches (no mayo or cheese). I probably should have had only one, but I didn't. For a second snack, I had another handful of nuts and a piece of string cheese. Dinner for tonight is vegetarian pasta. My husband and I vowed no more seconds, so hopefully we can hold true to that. :)
Thank you so much for your support. It's nice to know others have been there too! Oh, also, thanks for the infor about the K20 protein water....I'll definately check it out!
I'll keep you posted with my results!

Hey Melissa..... I just wanted to say that I definitely think you're taking the right approach! Diet fads don't work because the things they usually have you doing, you can't keep up forever. Like, you can't avoid all carbs the rest of your life! LOL All things are "ok" in moderation :) If you drink lots of water during the day, it REALLY will help fill you up! One of the things that helped me in that area was the K2O protein water; it's just a little bit of extra "filling" for your tummy :)
Also having a BIG salad right before my main dinner helped a LOT when I first started, because like you, I had a hard time not going back for seconds :)
AND you have definitely made one of the biggest decisions by committing to an exercise program! That will help your weight come off so much faster, and also make you look more toned and lose inches faster. I read somewhere about a woman who lost a lot of weight just dieting (without exercise) and she called herself "skinny-fat" because she only weighed like 130 lbs but had NO muscle tone. She regretted the way that she had gone about it, and was starting an exercise program. (It's always easier to learn from OTHER people's' mistakes, right?) :)
I'm so EXCITED for you, because you are doing all the right things, and I KNOW that weight is gonna come off for you!! It is hard work sticking to the healthy eating and exercise day in and day out, but believe me, it's well worth the effort :) Good luck, and I hope you'll continue to post here!! ~Shaina
My name is Melissa. I'm 22, and I weigh almost 300 lbs. I am scared for my health, and have decided to not "diet", but to change my whole way of eating. I've tried the diet fads numerous times, only to gain all the weight back as soon as I stopped. With the support of my wonderful husband, I have decided to do the following:
* Start watching my portions - no seconds on food anymore.
* Start drinking more water - at least 64 oz per day
* Start filling my stomach up with nuts, fruits, veggies, and water about 30 min before each meal to help me eat less at mealtime.
* To start my favorite exercise program Tae-Bo again.
This is taking a lot of commitment on my part, and I'm going to need some support If anyone has any words of wisdom or support, it would be greatly appreciated.
