Eat smart at your holiday party! Try these tips:

  • Fill up on liquids before and during eating. Sparkling water with a lime twist or diet sodas are great choices.
  • Fresh fruits and raw vegetables are good starters. The fiber in them will fill you up fast.
  • Sliced turkey, lean ham, or roast beef, and shrimp are high in lean protein and will satisfy your hunger longer.
  • Go for the desserts LAST. This way you can fill up on lower calories foods first.

 Since this week is about holiday parties, I just wanted to add one that I read recently (that I definitely plan on using!) 

You can eat the filling of a piece of pie and skip the bottom layer of crust, which saves about 150 calories.
