I need to make a change in the way I eat. I just had a baby a year ago and I am the heaviest I have ever been. I feel like I look so fat in pictures and I dont feel sexy around my husband. My biggest downfall is sweets! Any kind of sweets I feel like I need something sweet everyday. And not just one time a day but all day long. Also I get very hungry a night after I put my daughter to bed. I weighed in today at 230! I ready to change!

Slim Fast makes some good snack bars.  You could include one as your afternoon snack.  They almost make you feel like you have been cheating on your diet.  Take your baby for walks in a stroller & get some exercise.  Just be sure to log your food and be honest.  If you follow the Slim Fast Plan & exercize for 1/2 hour a day you will lose.

My dad made a good point today lol that hardly ever happens. He said that dieting is kind of like quiting smoking or like giving up any addiction, it is super hard. He says if I look at it as something that will enevitably kill me I will be more motivated to stay on it.

It is a lifestyle change that everyone here needs to make.

Do you love the sweets or do you love yourself and your family?

I know its hard im a big woman with a big love for chocolate. I find the Chocolate peanut butter snack bars really help. Also the Chocolate shakes rock.

I also heard it helps to get rid of all the junk food in your house if at all posible, and to put pictures of skinny people everywhere. Like on the fridge, cabinets, etc.

I have not tried this yet, but I also heard if you buy an outfit that is two sizes too small for you that you really want to fit into and put it where you can see it that it helps you turn down those extra calories.

Dunno if any of this helps but good luck to you, and remember we are all here for the same reason. You are not alone.

Maggie.

I HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME FEELING/PROBLEM!! I CRAVE SWEETS FROM THE MINUTE I GET UP TO THE MINUTE I GO TO BED AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO STOP IT. I HAVE 3 KIDS ALONG WITH MY BOYFRIEND SO IT IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP THE STUFF OUT OF THE HOUSE. IF YOU EVER FIGURE OUT A WAY TO HELP CONTROL IT SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey! I also have two kids, so I know how hard it can be when they are asking for sweets to pass them over at the store.  (And it was especially hard not to pig out as I was opening their Halloween treats!)  One thing that has helped me though, is to realize that the sweets aren't good for them either!!  I didn't STOP buying them altogether, but when I buy them some chocolate or whatever, I try to buy only enough for one serving. Like, ONE chocolate bar instead of a bag of chocolate.  That way, even if I sneak a bite of their stuff, we don't have enough for me to really pig out on anyway, AND they know that when their treat is gone, it's gone, and the next snack will have to be apples or strawberries or Goldfish....  so I think it's healthier for the whole family.  And for Halloween, I let them eat whatever they wanted Halloween night, and even the next morning, but after lunch, I put the pumpkin buckets away and got rid of the candy.  Enough is enough, after all.....

Also, there are SOME things that are sweet that aren't so bad for you.  I like caramel corn rice cakes, and they are only about 60 calories per serving. Also, I have some salsa that has a fruity taste instead of just being hot, and it's super good when I want a sweet treat.... only 20 calories per serving, plus a serving of fruit!!  I think that if you really look next time you're at the store, you should be able to find some kind of sweet treat you will like that isn't as fattening as some of the stuff you're used to eating with your kids.  And even if you are craving something in particular, just keeping track of your calories can help you stop when it's time to stop   =)    I wanted a Reese's Blast from Sonic really bad this weekend, but when I found out the large size is about 850 calories, I settled for two peanut butter cups and a glass of milk    =)

Anyway, my point is just putting in some kind of effort to do better will give you results, and eventually you CAN break your addiction to sweets    =)

And Maggie.... I told my husband the same thing your dad said to you!!  Before I started my diet, I told him that if I could quit eating junk food, he should be able to stop smoking!!    lol     He took the challenge, and I've lost about 40 lbs, so its about time for him to hold up his end of the deal!      haha

Hi Everybody! I totally agree with everything Shaina said and I've done the same thing about eating fruit twice a day versus a candy bar. I've lost 8 lbs in 8 weeks. I'm losing very "slowly", but I'm LOSING and not gaining!  I started at 176 and now weigh 168.  I guarantee you that if "I" can lose then you CAN, too!!!  I have the biggest sweet tooth you've ever seen!!!  I used to eat 3 meals and literally 5 snacks a day....ice cream, candy bars, potato chips. Now I eat 2 of the 100 cal snack packs and STOP!  Sometimes I eat the chocolate rice cakes bc I really have to get that "chocolate fix".

Another snack idea is chocolate pudding or yogurt.  I think the pudding is 90 cal. My favorite yogurt is the key lime, but there are so many flavors. In the summer, I eat Slim-a-Bear by Klondike. Try eating 2 of those snacks, exercise 30 min a day, and eat nuts, fruit, or popcorn for your 3rd snack and you WILL start losing. I drink LOTS of water to fill up my stomach. YES the smaller outfit  works!!!  I wear a size 14, but can almost wear my 12's now. I bought 3 outfits in a size 10 and I can't WAIT to wear them!  When you mess-up and gain 2 lbs, FORGIVE youself and start over the next day or the next week. I almost quit my diet and thank goodness I didn't!  I lost another 3 lbs after my "almost" quitting day.  Good Luck to all of you! :)   Leigh

Leigh, MY favorite yogurt is key lime, too!!  I thought I was strange, because whenever I go to the store, even if most of the other flavors are gone, key lime will be fully stocked. But I didn't care; more for me!  haha   It's nice to know other people think it's delicious too!   =)

Weight watchers has ice cream in little individual tubs too. It makes it easy, because you know you can have one, and ONLY one. And I found out that even those packs of individual chocolate and vanilla ice cream tubs that people get for kids' birthday parties and stuff.... only have 100 calories each!  I have a bag in the fridge right now, with 6 chocolate and 6 vanilla   =)

Hey!  Thanks for the ice cream tip...you know how I'm a freak for ice cream! I also like the blueberry, blackberry, and strawberry yogurt, but that key lime ROCKS! Before this diet, I use to occasionally bring home a key lime pie or lemon merigue and hubby and I would devour that thing, like you've never seen. He loves key lime, too! We love anything that has a million calories!! :) My grandmother (all my grandparents are deceased now) always said "A minute on your lips and forever on your hips". I always thought that was funny, but also true!  I'll definitely get some individual ice creams when I go to the grocery store next time. Tonight we had popcorn before my lil girl went to bed. She loves for mommy to eat bed-time snacks "with" her.  I was feeling good about weighing Sat, but I ate 3-4 snacks today, instead of 2 and also haven't walked in at least 2 weeks. I'll be pleased if I at least "maintain" my weight. I would love to lose, but really hope there isn't any GAINS!  Leigh

My favorite yogurt is Pina Colada and I have looked at the Key Lime several times; however, was afraid to try. I will have to try it for sure now.

I have been a slim fast member since before the upgrade and I had lost 13 pounds but gained 5 back during the upgrade. I had a buddy Vheaton that was really inspiring me to run every other day, and now I don't know where she is at. I shouldn't use that as an excuse to have quit dieting; however, it was very discouraging because her and I would check our messages every evening to see where our progress was.

When it come to weigh in, I do the same thing if I have lost a few pounds I go back to eating more snacks; therefore, I have not let myself weigh for the past few days. Everybody from work was saying, "man you are looking really good and slimming down" when I was down the 13 pounds and one would think that should have been the motivation to not go back to snacks. urggg!!
