 Hi all-

I'm starting this diet plan tomorrow!  I have a 10 month old baby, and my husband is in the Army.  I have a lot of obstacles to overcome, so I hope that I don't lose motivation.

I weighed 160 in high school (healthy weight for me), and now weigh about 260.  I haven't lost any weight since having my daughter.  None.  I wasn't able to breastfeed her.  Plus, living in Alaska, it's hard to find nice weather to get out and exercise in... so I have 100 pounds to lose :(

I suffer from severe postpartum depression and I'm on medication for it, which I know will hinder my weight loss.

With my husband being in the Army, he is gone a lot.  I think that this has caused a lot of my weight gain- when he is gone, I get bored (or lonely) and eat.  I know that I make bad food choices, and I'm hoping to change that!

Just wanted to type all this out and see if anyone is in the same boat as I am.  It's so hard trying to lose weight in general, especially after having a baby!

 Hi Lulabelle,

I'm not in the exact same boat as you but close.I start my slim-fast optima diet tomorrow. My goal is to lose 45 pounds.I currently weigh 164.

I am a new mom and my son is 10 months old this month. My highest weight the day before I had him was 174...that 10 pound difference I pretty much lost right after having my son. After that forget it! lol I am 28 on the bmi I'm overweight badly.

And as you my husband is in the Army aswell. He is currently in Afghanistan and will be 12 more months.I'm a very very bad person when it comes to food choices and motivation so its even harder dealing with his absence. But I know that not just for my sake but my husband and most importantly our sons I need to get healthy.

I can not say how easy it will be me for me to stick to this and not give in to some comfort or fried foods lol but I know I'm not alone, and neither are you.

But most def. agree it is sooo much harder losing weight after a baby...it's like parts just won't sink back in and tighten up :p

I can definitely relate to you.  I'm 26 years old, mother of a 9 m.o. and my husband is in the Navy.  I weighed right around 150 in highschool and I'm currently at 240.  I am desperate to lose weight but it's hard.  I couldn't breastfeed my daughter either (I was counting on that to drop some pounds!!) and I'm home all day with her and we don't have an extra vehicle.  Apartment living with no backyard.  My problem is trying to motivate myself to put in an exercise dvd and get moving.

It's been about a month since you posted this.  How's it going??  Are you finding that you've got more energy?  Hope it's working for you.  I'm starting tomorrow!!

Im a militry wife and have a 20 month old baby, I haven't lost any of the baby weigth since birth and even gain some...like 10 more pounds. I now is hard been alone all the time, food is a great company and time killer. Now that my husband will be gone for another year Im setting me a goal...get fit for our reunion. It will be dificult but not imposiible.I hope you can do it to. like you said is hard to lose weigth and on top of it been alone and take care of a baby make a real challenge. im really possitive this time I will make it, be positive and believe in yourself.

what I did to help me get motivate is went shopping for a jean in a size 10, Im a 16 now so I'll be wearing that jean before my birthday(january 21). so I ask God to give me strength and to help me stay in pace with my goals. well I hope you the best and dont quit.

My husband is also in the military.  I am not a new mom.  I have a son who's 6 and a daughter that's almost 2.  I lost weight easily after my son but was never back down to the 130 I was in highschool.  I stayed around 150 after him.  Now after my daughter I am 174 pounds and cannot stand being overweight.  My BMI is a 30 which is considered obese.  I know I need to change my bad eating habits for myself and my kids.  They are picking up my bad habit of eating too many sweets!  I am also one who likes to eat when am lonely or sad or mad or even happy...all the time :).  I have noticed that my weight has been stopping me from doing things with my family.  I absolutely hate having to find something to wear that I cannot hide behind...like jeans.  My confidence in myself has gone way down and this is affecting my marriage as well.  I know now is the time for me to lose weight.  I really want to start feeling good about myself and I want to enjoy getting ready to go places and not dread trying to squeeze into my jeans that are way too tight.  That's my story...I started slim-fast on Sunday and it is now Thursday.  I have noticed a small drop in my weight...like a pound or two but I am convinced that it is water weight.  We will see when I weigh myself again in a few days.  I am setting small goals for myself.  My first goal is to lose at least 5 pounds by Thanksgiving.  What I really want is for my clothes to fit better.  And after Thanksgiving I will set another goal...maybe for Christmas.
