Hi Shaina & Misty! I was in the worst mood last night...started out mad at myself and later on, I was full-blown depressed. I went over & over my foods mentally to see where the problem was, but I did figure it out. I should be journaling my food, but I'm not. I did good on proportions & didn't go crazy with late night eating, bc the Protein water curbed that. So, it stemmed from one large cookie I ate 2 days and mostly from eating so much Fast Food. I know that Captain D's lunch I had and Burger King were probably a gazillion calories. When I was steadily losing, I only ate lunch out 1-2 times in a whole week. Last week I ate lunch out every day, except ONE day. Fast food REALLY puts weight on me and is how I ended up this way! So today I ate at home...a Lean Cuisine. I'm going to stick with sandwiches, fruit, & Lean Cuisine to get on the RIGHT PATH again! I do feel better now that I'm aware of what I did differently! Today I walked 2.5 mi, instead of my normal 2 and I feel better about that. I'm SORE, but that's OK, too. LOL! I'm DETERMINED to get this darn weight off, I'm not bringing in 2009 like this!!!!! Shaina & Misty, THANK YOU for encouraging me and being so VERY supportive!! Leigh
PS: My girl went 1 day without using the potty & regressed, but somehow she is using it again and moving FORWARD. (???) We're having Potty Parties, (I clap, jump up & down, & dance) She loves the clapping and says "Clap louder, Mommy" Apparently that's what it takes to motivate her! Whatever works is FINE with me! LOLOL! :)
Shaina, I think you're RIGHT, half my problem was the Fast Food last week, plus I ate dinner out twice! But the other half was water retention like you said! :) These chocolate peanut nougat SF snack bars are scrumptious!! Have a GREAT DAY! Good Luck with the furniture moving....that's hard work! :) Leigh
Hi Misty & Shaina! :) I'm SORRY my post was so negative. I changed the tone from lighthearted to depressing without meaning to. If I'm not on here much the next few days, it's bc I'm getting ready for company this w-end. I have housework before a cousin's visit...should be a fun, yet busy w-end! :)
I weighed today and am back to 170.5. I think in another week, I'll be in the 160's! HOORAY!!!! I'm thrilled....LOL! The weather is overcast here, it's suppose to rain today & tomorrow. I'll have to walk to the dvd I have. I found a NEW route to start walking (near my house) and I'm also excited about that. There are 3 subdivisions right beside ours that are all great for walking. It will be nice to change things up next week and it's still 2 miles. Y'all have a WONDERFUL DAY!! :) :) WE'RE DOING AWESOME!!!! Leigh :)
Hey Leigh,
Dont even worry about that! Lord knows we all get down like that at times! If it aint over one thing then its another! But congrats on gettin gback to your 170.5. i think i will faint if i ever see that number on my scale....lol. My next goal is to make it to 189. We decided to focus on 10 pound increments...lol. It makes the task less overwhelming!
I got a lil bit of good news....i got a job yesterday! A little one...but hey its just for some spending money! i am gonna start cleaning the dealership where my hubby works in the evenings 5 days a week. I dont think $450 a month is bad for a couple of hours of work in the evenings! And it is great because hubby can keep the baby and my 10 yr old is gonna work with mommy. She is excited to be "earning" her allowance....lol. It is a really great learning experience for her. Plus i think the best thing of all is that it is gonna help me with the stir craziness immensly! LOL! So i am tickled. Before my hubby and i married i worked for a maid service and cleaned offices so this is familiar territory for me....lol. Which is very comforting since i havent worked in 6 years...lol. But any way, im hoping the extra activity will help burn off these pounds...lol. Well i better go and start dinner. ttyl:)Misty
PS> Hey shaina, how are you doing woman?!
Hey Misty! That is soooo GREAT about your new part-time job! You will definitely burn off extra lbs, but like you said....varying up your daily routine will do you good! :) I'd LOVE to have an extra $450 a month and my hubby would love it, too. LOL! Misty, you'll be at 189 in no time at all!! You are doing "phenomenal" on your weight loss!! You're blowing me away....before you know it, you'll surpass me....I'm quite sure! That's OK, bc I'm really proud of all your hard work & efforts!!! I didn't walk today or yesterday, but I'll start back tomorrow or Fri. Hey, will your new job get you out of cooking? ha!ha! LOL! A friend of mine uses her crockpot a lot, so that would make dinner easier for you some days. I'm looking forward to our next weigh-in. I believe the 160's will be here soon and I can hardly wait!!! I'll finally be able to wear some of the "cuter" clothes hanging in my closet. :) Shaina, I bet you're loving your new house & neighborhood! :) Leigh
Hey Ladies! OMG! I'm ON FIRE NOW!!! I really "watched" my late-night snacking this week. I ate carrots 2 nights & another night ate rice cakes, plus drank protein water. And I ate lunch at home this week, except for today. I met my parents at Red Lobster and it was SO nice having my dad there for a change. He took my doodlebug to the lobster tank so Mom and I could finish eating without hurrying. She does good, but gets fidgety the last 10 min. I weighed AFTER lunch and I always weigh "before" eating. I've lost another pound! I'm down to 169.3!!!! Thank You Jesus!!! I'm so incredibly motivated now that it's ridiculous! I just want to walk, walk, walk! LOL! I definitely will start walking 2.5 mi from now on and KEEP drinking the protein water. I gave half my fries at lunch to my daughter....splitting my food with her saves $$, but mainly forces me to eat smaller proportions. I get FULL much quicker, which is such a blessing! HOORAY!! It felt so good for my shorts to be SO "loose" on me! I think 10 lbs equals 1 clothing size and I've lost 7 lbs, so I should be able to wear my 12's in another week, but correct me if I'm wrong on that. LOL! :) Have a BLESSED day!! :) Leigh
Man! I really missed talking to y'all this week!! Everything's been so.... ugh! =) That's the best word I can think of to describe it =) We have cable internet, and the guy is scheduled to come out tomorrow to hook the TV and computer up.... I can't wait! (I'm at my parents' this evening) I've really missed "my shows" that I watch and chatting with you guys =)
Well, we moved all of the big stuff Monday, but it's taken all week to get all of the little stuff over to the new place and unpacked. I've been sort-of "down" lately, just because I'm so sick of looking at boxes, and having to go through at least 2 every time I need something! My husband had to go back to work Tuesday, so I was left to do a lot of stuff myself, while taking care of the little ones.... He would come home everyday frustrated because he thought I should have been able to get more done that what I felt I had time to do. It was frustrating for me, too.... because he would too "tired" to do much after coming home from work. Everything is coming together nicely now, though, so we're both in better moods =)
It is nice having more room, especially for the kids. I think I'm burning extra calories doing housework now though =) It's a good thing, but after a few days of back-and-forth, putting stuff up etc, I was so sore!! Our old place was really small, and apparently my body noticed the difference in house size =)
Leigh, OMG girl, you ARE on fire!! I'm so happy for you!! I was totally sure I was going to gain at least a pound this week, since the only meals I've "cooked" were those frozen things you dump into a skillet and warm up =) They weren't bad, but they weren't "health food" either =) Plus, we had a lot of happy meal and french-frie runs at 9:00 pm when we realized it was bed time and the kids hadn't had a proper dinner. (See, you can tell I'm out of my mind, calling a happy meal a proper dinner!) lol I did have decent lunches most days, and stuck with my cereal or slim-fast shake for breakfast since it was so easy, but dinners really weren't what I've gotten used to. My husband would want Arby's or something, and I would think, "Well, I COULD have a salad, but then I'd have to watch him eat curly fries and roast beef while I munched on lettuce.... Guess I'll have Arby's too." lol BUT I was surprised. I weighed myself Friday morning, and I was down to 153.8! Maybe it was just a freak thing, because I haven't gone to the gym or ANYTHING this week, other than getting my house together. Don't get me wrong, I've gone to bed exhausted all week, but still, I didn't think of it as a "work out" or anything.... I'm pretty confused right now =) But happy, lol..... I'm excited to be able to get back into the gym though. I'm planning to start back tomorrow. And I'm pretty sure our new neighborhood is ok to walk in, so I'm excited about that, too! =) I've seen three ladies walking together pushing strollers, so maybe I'll be able to join them or something.
Misty, congrats on your new job! I would be excited to do something like, and 450 extra dollars a month is exciting too!! I've been thinking of looking for something part-time (our bills are going to run a little higher at the new house, so what spending money I did have is probably about to dry up) but other part time jobs I've had were still 8-hour days, just only 3 or 4 per week, and I don't really want to leave my kids for that long.... Your job sounds like something I should look into doing around here!
I think we're all 3 doing SO great! Looking forward to chatting more later =)
~Shaina
HEY Shaina & Misty! Glad to have you back on here, girlie! Wow, you've been getting a GREAT work-out from moving...153.8! I'll probably "cry with joy" when I see that on the scale!!! I saw this cool dvd on Amazon.com "Dance Off the Inches--Hip Hop Party" by Jennifer Galardi. It had good reviews, but today I saw it at Best Buy, so I might go back and get it...that would save me from shipping fees. It made me think of y'all! LOL! :)
Shaina, that's awesome about all the extra space you have now and about seeing the other ladies with strollers! Our house is SO small, but we do have 2 bathrooms, which is a good thing. I "wish" ours was at least 2,000 sq ft.
Have either of you tried the Slimfast Shakes? I've only had the meal bars. Do the shakes help ward off hunger? I was curious about that, but still haven't bought any. I love their meal bars for breakfast & the snack bars. Better go for now! TTYL! :) Leigh
PS: Misty, what was your weigh-in? Mine was 169.5 and I'm really happy about that!! We're sooooo AWESOME!! :)
We only had two bedrooms at our old place =( It was so super small! We had been "saying" we were going to move and "looking" for a place since I got pregnant with our 1-year old! Now that both of the girls are all over the place, we just couldn't stay in that tiny little house anymore, even though right now we're "wasting" our money on a rental. I was to the point at the other house that I stopped considering renting "a waste" if it meant more space =) At the end of my rope, so to speak =) It was so funny, because we had enough "stuff" to fill most of our bigger house, and my husband was like "Where did we PUT this stuff before?!" I laughed, cuz I've been telling him for a year now that there's nowhere to put anything =) Literally, we had to give away old toys everytime a birthday or Christmas came up just so we'd have room for the new stuff!
That Dance Off the Inches sounds good. It sounds like something you could enjoy doing =) We don't have much to choose from around here; we don't even have a Best Buy. The nearest one is in Little Rock, and I'm planning on looking for some videos next time I make it up there. I still want to try a belly dance video =) You know, as we were moving, I found my old bag I used to put my gym clothes in when I worked. I found a schedule from my old gym with some stuff circled that I planned to do, including a belly dance class and a couple of different yoga classes. I remember when I had the time and money for stuff like that.... ahhhh, sweet youth =) Oh well, I think I'm doing good now, too =)
I like the Slim-Fast snack bars, but the one meal bar I tried was really gross! I brought it over to my parents' house in the diaper bag so I wouldn't be tempted to eat their pizza or tacos or whatever junk food they decided to have for dinner. lol I ate most of it, but I really didn't like it at all. The shakes are delicious though! And they have so many vitamins and nutrients, much more than I get from a bowl of cereal and milk. I like having them for breakfast because it's so easy, and they're pretty filling. The cappucino flavor is just as good as those iced coffees I love =) The chocolate one is good enough for my 2 yr old to weazel half a sippy cup from me =) lol "I want some of your diet drink Mommy..... Pleeeeeeeease" =)
Anyway, we're leaving soon.... I HOPE that cable guy comes tomorrow! Thursday, a van from the cable company pulled into my driveway, and I was SO excited. I was like "They came EARLY!" =) Then, he slowly backed out and turned around =) Talk about diappointment lol But hopefully I'll talk to y'all again soon. ~Shaina
Hi Ladies! Boy, do I understand about "not having enough room to put stuff"!! :( That part drives me CRAZY! Our house has 2 bedrooms and is 1,265 sq ft. My "ideal" home would be 2300 sq ft, but 2000 would be TERRIFIC! We'll get there eventually. I've had to give away toys to GoodWill before Christmas & Birthdays, too. But I also consign them for the extra money. We have some furniture & things in a storage unit, too! :( So, I'm sure we could fill up a bigger home, too! LOL! :) We've only had our Best Buy a year or so....not very long.
This week wasn't looking too good (as far as exercise goes!), bc I didn't walk Wed, Thurs, or Sat. But I MADE myself walk Fri and Sun evening at the track. We had Chinese for supper, so I got out of cooking. The sesame chicken is so delicious!
Do you drink the canned SF drinks or the powder? Someone on a different message board was talking about a SF powder you mix with water. And another person was saying they put milk, fruit, and frozen yogurt in theirs for a smoothie. YUM!! I need to try them! I'm going to start eating oatmeal more often, too. I keep reading more about how healthy oatmeal is.
Do y'all cook dinner in a crock pot? I never do that, but one of my friends does a LOT! I fix pot roast in the oven, but she always uses her crock pot. I need to try it that way for a change. Y'all have a GREAT day!! :) Leigh
Hey Ladies.....sorry that i didnt post all weekend. It was my birthday weekend and i am totally bummed cause i weighed on saturday morning and had gained a pound. So im back at 200. So much for my victory dance. Hubby says that it is probably just cause it is getting close to that time of the month. But i think it is because i havent excercised my usual amount this week since i started my new job. I dont know..im just bummed. i excercise way more than most normal people just to lose what little i do lose and i eat healthy so it is a little depressing. Sorry to be a bummer guys. TTyl...Misty
Hi Misty! Happy Birthday to YOU! I remembered your Bday last week, but with company in town for the w-end, it slipped my mind again! Don't worry, I'm SURE you'll have another 3-5 lb LOSS after "Aunt F" leaves! It has to be water weight! I was real bummed over that 3 lb gain I had and within a few days it was GONE with a "poof" and all I did differently was eat lunch at home 2 days and replace 1 snack with carrots. I'm certain mine was water weight, too! You are doing FANTASTIC, so don't let this bum you out!!! Okay? Focus on the "20 lbs" that you LOST! Today I had a revelation as to WHY I'm draggy some days. I'm carrying around an extra 30 lbs and my lil girl weighs 32, so basically I'm carrying her around ALL DAY LONG!! No wonder I sometimes feel sluggish! LOL!
I've lost another 1 lb, so maybe within 2 weeks I can get down to 165. I ordered the Dora cake for next w-end. I still haven't bought all her presents yet...I've only bought 1 toy. I'll have to get that done tomorrow. Normally I get everything a month before. We're having a low-key family party this year. The last couple of years we invited family & friends though. Better go finish up this laundry. Hang in there Misty!! You'll have a bigger loss at your next weigh-in!!! :) Leigh
PS: How do you like your new job?
Hey ladies! The cable guy came and hooked up all our stuff today =) Yay!! Misty, Happy Birthday!! Don't be bummed. You know, when you're talking about 1 pound, it could be water weight, it could be what you're wearing, it could be what time you had dinner the night before. It's just a few ounces, really; it could be anything =) It's way more likely it's something other than fat, so don't worry too much. And hey, maybe it's just me, but I think cleaning IS exercise! =) I mean, maybe not so much picking up and dusting, but the sweeping, mopping etc is definitely work! I cleaned the carpet over here twice last week, and my back and legs were more sore from that than they ever were from any running or walking!
Leigh, I use the canned slim-fast drinks, just because they're easier. I've seen the powder at the store, though, and thought about getting it. I went through a phase where I was making smoothies, but it got old pretty fast for me. Most of the fruit I like must be going out of season or something, because it's been really hard to find here lately. And that frozen fruit is a pain in the butt when you're using a blender =) ~Although, it may just be that mine is pretty cheap. hahaha~ But if you want to take the time to make them, I'm sure they would be delicious! Your daughter would probably like to help put the ingredients in; she'd probably think they were really fun to make =) And then maybe she could have one with you; mine always liked them.
I have been trying to get some recipes together for stuff I can make in the crock pot. I've been working on this project for a couple of weeks now, and.... guess what? I can't find our crock pot anywhere =) At this point, I'm pretty sure I'll never see it again. Do y'all ever have things mysteriously disappear when you move? Of course, I haven't really used the thing at all since we got it, so maybe my husband just got rid of it instead of packing it up. He did that to quite a lot of stuff that he thought we didn't use enough to bother with. Oh well, I think my mom has two =)
Well, we really need to go grocery shopping this evening! I didn't realize how out of food we were =) I was planning to go to the gym though! Maybe I'll just go for a nice long walk around the neighborhood instead. I bet the kids would really like it if we all went together after shopping. I make the kids stay in the basket most of the time, because they tend to get a little wild if I let them walk.... After a few minutes they start to think that they can run or linger over the snacks, or y'know, just act like toddlers ;) The little shopping baskets for the kids to push help, but then I always end up buying a few things I didn't even realize the kids' had picked up =) Now that I think of it, maybe I'll just let them walk, and use the chasing as my work-out! lol
Y'all have a good evening! Ttyl =) ~Shaina
I meant to ask y'all this yesterday, but my baby unplugged the computer when I was almost done typing it out =) ~It still may not be in the best of all possible locations, but hopefully she won't be able to do that again~ lol
Anyway, my mom went to the dr yesterday and found out that her bp was a little high, and her cholesterol was pretty high. Her dr put her on meds for cholesterol. My mom went there initially to ask for diet pills, but when she realized she wasn't in the best of health, she thought better of it and instead asked the dr if she could recommend anything over the counter that would help her lose weight. (I've been trying to get my mom to exercise a little with me ~she's only 48!~ but she had back surgery last year and says she doesn't feel up to doing much when she gets home from work; who am I to argue?) Anyway, her dr recommended Alli; have y'all heard of it? It's supposed to block the fat you eat from being absorbed by your body. I think it's fairly expensive though. Have y'all ever tried any diet pills or anything? Just wondering.....
Talk to ya later! ~Shaina
Hey Y'all! I read on a few mssge boards that Alli caused diarrhea, but that's all I've heard....after eating too much fattening foods or junk foods. (not after eating healthy foods) Ever since phen-phen (whatever it was called) I'm kinda scared of diet pills. I think phen caused heart problems for some people. I know 2 ladies that lost 20-30 lbs by walking and were able to go OFF all their BP medicine & cholesterol meds. I don't have high cholesterol, but I DO eat too many fried foods. I knew walking would help me with weight loss and with cholesterol & heart disease. Heart disease runs in my family....so it was time to get "real" about my health, before any problems crop up.
I understand completely about being "too tired" to walk after working!! That's how I felt for "years"! I can really empathize on that one! Now I have almost double the energy I used to have. My hubby had a slipped disk and had a small outpatient surgery a few yrs ago. The Dr told him to "walk, walk, walk" I finally asked him WHY out of curiosity! He said it builds up the "core" muscles that hold up a person's frame. I guess so there isn't as much strain on the joints or back maybe. She should definitely ask her Dr who did the back surgery before doing any exercise!
Shopping for the Bday toys was fun! I got the Disney Princess tricyle she's been talking about for months!! LOL! She's also getting a dollhouse from the Grandparents....awww! I'm like a big-kid on her Bday. It's soooo fun watching her excitement over new toys & books. :)
I'm staying AWAY from the measuring tape. Measuring tape = bad mood; at my house! LOL! I've only lost 1/2 an inch off my chest (where I don't need to lose!!) 1 inch off my thighs and NONE off my waist, where I need to lose badly.....and 1/2 inch off my hips. After 5-6 weeks of eating less AND walking my butt off! I'm not going NEAR that tape again for at least 3 wks. I'm sticking with the scales, instead. LOL! :)
Have a GREAT DAY Misty & Shaina!!!! :) :) Leigh
PS: OH NO!!!! Your Mom is ONLY 8 yrs older than me! That was a "horrible" thought! MAN!!!
