Hi Misty & Shaina! That is COOL about you getting into Large shorts. I would be freakin' out if I could get into "smaller" shorts. Congrats to you!! :) I didn't walk today, but will walk twice tomorrow instead. I'm sore from yesterday (I walked twice and it was 3.5 mi), so I had a "good" workout...LOL! I cleaned house, so I guess that counts for something. My girl played at my parents house and enjoyed herself. I'm excited about tonight, I'm seeing a chick flick with my best buds and then eating dinner. This is the most I've seen them in years! It's been GREAT for me---I've been cutting up & laughing more....like a new woman. LOL! Hubby goes fishing several times a year, so he gets his guy time.
Misty, I bet you would LOVE "Dancing With the Stars" on Mon nights. I LOVE the dancing, but also the music...it's definitely my favorite show. I also love CSI Las Vegas, The Bachelor, & sometimes watch "Deadliest Catch" with hubby, about crab fishing. All in between it's Food Network or Travel Channel shows. OR should I say Barney, Dora, & Curious George. LOL!
GIRL, you are really "talented" with musical instruments!! That's neat and I guess you teach yourself how to play. My hubby taught himself to play the guitar and he is good! I can only play the piano, but haven't played in over 10 yrs! My hubby has XM radio in his truck (portable) and you have me wanting to ask him to leave it here a couple of days, so I can ROCK OUT to some Disco and 80's. That would definitely make housework more fun and my daughter would surely laugh at mommy! LOL! You had me rolling about your turquoise pants & boots! OMG!...too funny!! I can picture the whole thing!LOL TTYL! :) Leigh
PS: I put a Scarecrow, 2 silk mums, 2 pumpkins, and a HUGE real mum on my front porch bench. It turned out SO pretty! My daughter LOVES it and wants to touch the scarecrow everytime we go outside. :) That was my lil project last night. I started doing a "fall scene" a couple of yrs ago and now I "have" to do it or it seems like something is missing! LOL! :)
I put a little scarecrow in the flower bed we planted in front of my daughter's playhouse at the beginning of the summer. She's scared to death of it! She'll tell anybody who will listen about how the "scare row" tried to get her =) She calls skeletons and the grim reaper things that are out now "bad guys" =) If we're getting into the truck or something at night, she says into the darkness "No no bad guys! Don't try to get me!!" =) I don't think she's "really" scared though, so it's cute.
We have digital cable, so we have about 20 music channels, but I can't ever find anything I really like. Maybe I just don't listen long enough, or maybe they don't play the good stuff =) I'll have to give it another try tomorrow. We always have some kind of cartoon on the tv, whether or not anyone's actually watching it. They stop playing and dance when the songs come on =) Maybe I could get away with having some music channels on while they play.
Misty, did you have eyeshadow to match your pants? lol Now that I think about it, were those huge dangly earrings from the 80's? I never owned my own, but I had my ears pierced when I was 7, and I used to sneak into my mom's stuff and wear hers. I loved them =) My sister still wears huge earrings sometimes, but I can't even wear studs anymore without a kid pulling on them! Y'all have a good night! ttyl
Shaina &Leigh,
Awww yalls decorations sound so pretty!! Where i live here in the mountains you have to be careful putting out cany kind of real food like pumpkins and gourds and stuff cause of the bears! So i probably wont be doing any outside decorating like that...but thats ok..no biggie. Yalls lil girls sound sooo cute. I used to love it when my girls were little like that and say cute stuff like that. But i swear my 5 yr old has the vocabulary of an 10 year old so now instead of the cutesy stuff she will pop off with a word that floors us all and we are like, "WOW!" LOL!
Oh yeah, i definatly had the eyeshadow that matched the clothes. And you know i still tend to match my eye makeup to my clothes if i can get away with it. ....lol. And you would think my hubby would be mortified, but he loves it! I just tell him that i always wanted to be a makeup artist when i grew up...lol. And yes the huge earring was from that time. The bigger and gaudier the better. That was the whole deal with the 80s. Everything in excess! Big hair, big jewelry...as many bangles as you could fit on your wrist! Bold bright colors every where that you could put them. It was like your body was a canvas and your hair, makeup, and clothes was your paint! It was insane! LOLOLOL!! But sooo much fun!
well its time for my hubby to get home...YAY!! TTYL....:)Misty
Hey Y'all! The movie "The women" was pretty good....I've seen better, but also seen worse. I've always liked Meg Ryan! Now I wanna see "Nights in Rodanthe", bc I love Nicholas Sparks' books and have read almost all of them! :) Misty, my pumpkins are "fake", from Hobby Lobby. LOL! They have great decorative things for inside & outside the home. So mtn bears wouldn't eat on these for long! LOL! For dinner I got the salmon again. I came home "on time" for a change....hubby was happy about that! YAY!
Shaina, your girls sound SO adorable! Kids say the cutest things, don't they? My girl calls them "monsters" or "dat scary man". Whenever I go back to work, I'd like to be a substitute teacher....I LOVE kids!!
We were singing 8675309 this past w-end Misty. Isn't that funny? I use to love that song! LOL! That brought back so many great memories of us "cruising" the main street on Fri & Sat nights, bc there was NOTHING else to do in our small town...except the movies. LOL! Talk to y'all later! Leigh
PS: Do you remember Zena jeans? :) In college I wore these LONG earrings that almost touched my shoulders called "shoulder duster" earrings. Now everybody wears the Chandelier ones and I LOVE THOSE!! I have a couple of pairs. Do y'all like the Chandelier earrings? :)
I wanted to see "Nights in Rodanthe" so bad, but I read a review in the paper last weekend that wasn't so good. They actually said the best thing about the movie was the scenery! I'll probably watch it anyway, because I don't always agree with those reviewers, but I'll wait til it comes out on DVD =) No sense dropping $30 bucks to watch a movie that might bomb =) We usually just see blockbusters at the theaters, so we know we'll get our money's worth =) Especially since it's so hard to leave the kids anywhere....
I love the little mispronunciations kids make =) They're so adorable! Substitue teacher is a great job, because you always get to do something "different" and the kids are always so excited to get a nice sub =) I went to a private elementary school, and my mom used to work in the daycare to help pay our tuition, and I would always go to her class whenever I got a chance and play with the kids. I had my "favorites" though; I'm not sure I'm "impartial" enough to be in charge of a bunch of kids =) I've thought about being a kindergarten teacher though; kids are so cute and eager to please at that age that it's sure to be a joy to go to work each day =)
I've got some more Halloween decorations, but they're still in the bag. I figured there's no sense getting them out just yet, since we're in the moving process.... My toddler wants to get some bad guys for our yard though =) Every day I have to walk her across the street so she can see what the neighbors have out. They go all out for Halloween and Christmas. They have orange pumpkin lights on their house and lots of lit up scary stuff =) She's going to love trick-or-treating this year. I can't wait til she's old enough to go to the haunted houses! Do you ever feel like doing stuff with your kids is like doing it for the first time all over again? It's like you can see it through their little eyes, and it's so fun again =) I think that's why it's so fun to go to amusement parks and My Little Pony on ice and such =) Stuff I wouldn't have been caught dead doing five years ago is suddenly the highlight of my days =) haha Funny how that works.
I LOVE those chandelier earrings. I have some that I bought when I was pregnant with my first. They're so cute! I think I wore some to my baby shower =) But not much since then..... Everything is put away in a jewelry box I never even open anymore =( For Mother's Day, my husband bought me one of those circle necklaces with the swirls that look like a mommy holding a baby... have y'all seen those? I LOVE it; I wanted it so bad =) And it's broken already =( I wore it twice. I wore it the last time we went to the movies, I think we saw Batman, and when I picked the kids up at my mom's the baby tugged it and broke the chain. I think I'm giving up on jewelry til they're both old enough to get their ears pierced, so I can tug them back and show them how it feels =) Just kidding! But I'm sure it will be a while before I invest in anything else that will upset me if broken.
Hey.... I know 8675309!!! 867-530 niiiii eeee iiiine =) Maybe I know more good songs than I realized =) Do you remember "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"? My mom used to blast that when I was little; my sister and I loved it! I bet that would be fun to listen to when I'm running errands with my girls =)
Not to get political here, but did y'all watch the debate last night? I missed it, but it's all anyone is talking about this morning on the news. Nonstop, really. I'm starting to wish I had watched it.
Well, I gotta go.... I've got more stuff that needs to go in boxes =) I think we're going to be out of here by this weekend! Y'all have a great day, and if you think of it, please pray for my sanity as I try to pack the house up while entertaining two little kids! =)
hey ladies! I love that song! I think everyone loved that song...lol. I mean especially the guys. ;) Oh and Girls Just want to Have fun still rocks in our house! My girls love it and we blare it on the computer and dance around! You should see my 5 yr old; she has a baby blue petticoat and this hot pink shirt that she wears all the time and this child has hair down to her bottom and she starts bouncing around and singing to it....lol....and i swear if her hair was pink and orange i would have a miniature Cyndi Lauper! It is the funniest thing!
Leigh, good luck with the packing...i know that routine all too well...lol. i can pack my enitre house intwo days if i needed to. I learned with my girls, when they were little like that, that the easiet way to entertain them was to give them a big box for them to "pack" their toys and books in. They loved it and when they finally got tired of packing then they were ready to do something beside try to help mommy....lol.
As far as the jewelry goes, i only just started wearing necklaces again this past year or so. And when i did before that, i wore cheap ones that it wouldnt make me pass out if they got broken...lol. Now the chandlier earings...i have probably 10 pairs of those. I have learned over the years that when you have really long or big hair, that the larger earrings are really all you can wear if you want others to be able to notice them...lol. And as far as my girls go, i had my 10 yr olds ear pierced when she was about 3 months and my youngest daughter , i had hers pierced at 6 weeks old. My husband almost fainted...lol. But i never had any trouble with either of them bothering their earings when they got to be toddlers because they just accepted it as a part of them. My oldest doesnt wear hers as often now as she used to, but my 5 yr old wont let me take hers out hardly even to clean them! well i better go for now. Have a great day ladies! :)Misty
Hi Shaina & Misty! Yep, those chandelier earrings look awesome on long hair! I walked today and really "enjoyed" it, but it was HOT here. There are very "few" 80's songs that I dislike. They were all great!!! :) I looked at a house this morning that just went on the market. Unfortunately it was 3 bedrooms instead of 4 and is located in the city.....he REALLY wants to be in the country. It's been a very busy day. We ate lunch with Gran, ran a couple of errands, looked at a house, walked, shopped 45 min, and did laundry! Whew!
Shaina, good luck on your packing!! You must be thrilled over your new home!! Will you be able to walk in that neighborhood? My parents have a GREAT subdivision for walking, bc there are LOTS of walkers in their area and it's very "hilly". I haven't walked over there, but as soon as I start hitting a plateau I will.
Yeah, I didn't wear ANY jewelry the first 2 yrs and then I only wore costume jewelry...nothing expensive. Lately, she's pulling on my jewelry less, so I wear it to lunch, dinner and maybe while shopping. When I wear bracelets, my daughter "insists" on trying them on and prancing around with them. LOL!
I made $99 from the consignment store on my infant toys, clothes, and baby gear. That's my biggest check so far. WOO HOO!!! This was priceless: my girl said today she didn't want to eat lunch at Chili's, cause she wanted to GO SHOPPING! UH OH! Her daddy would have croaked if he had heard that! :) LOLOL! Have a Wonderful W-end! :) Leigh
I haven't packed my scale yet =) I weighed this morning, and surprise, surprise, I didn't lose any weight. BUT, the scale only read 156.0, so I only gained 1/2 a pound. Not bad, considering all the junk food I had this week, and the fact that I technically only "cooked" one dinner this week =) Actually, I'm fairly amazed. I wouldn't have been one bit surprised if I had gained two pounds. So I'm thankful I didn't mess up too bad. Only wasted one week, and I'm back on track, about to head to the gym before a hard day's work cleaning the carpets and kitchen at the new house. The girls are going to the park with Pa-paw, so they should be fine with me being busy today.
Oh and Leigh, $99 bucks from the consignment shop?! You're making me want to take my closet full of outgrown baby clothes and sell them =) Congrats! That IS cause to go shopping =) My daughter LOVES Chili's, does yours? She always spots them whenever we pass one and says she wants to eat there. I think it's mostly because we've gotten into the bad happen of letting her eat the cheese dip with her spoon, though =) lol and it comes in that little skillet, so she pretends she's cooking and tasting, and she has a great time with it =) Y'all may think this is terrible, but having two little kids, I just let them do whatever they want when we're at a restaurant as long as they're sitting in their chairs and quiet. I know I'm not teaching them manners, but at this point, I doubt they would use them even if they knew them. So as long as they aren't bothering anyone, I'm happy, and we just leave a good tip to cover the mess =) Do y'all think that's bad?
Hope y'all had better results than me this week! Ttyl =) ~Shaina
GOOD MORNING SHAINA & LEIGH!! Well today is THE day!!!! THE VICTORY DANCE!!!!!!!!!! WOOOO HOOOOO!!! I weighed this morning and the scale read 199!!! I started bawling!! I have not been under 200 pounds in 6.5 years!! Hallelujah, Praise the Lord and AMEN!!!! LOLOLOL!! I was so happy that i couldnt go back to sleep and so my hubby got up and he weighed and he had lost 5 pounds as well. He has went from 280 to 260. And today is his birthday....the big 48! So he thought a 5 pound loss was a grest present!...LOL!
Hey have either of yall tried turkey bacon? We did for the first time this morning and LOVED it. It is alot milder than regular bacon and WAY WAY less calories and fat. Three strips were only 50 calories and 3.5 grams of fat! So we each had 3 strips, one scrambled egg and one piece of wheat toast for his b-day breakfast. And when i cook bacon i always cut the strips in half so you feel like you are getting more. It was really good.
Also, do either of you get Prevention Magazine. i just subscribed to it and it really has alot of great health information. Everything form eating healthy to natural medicines to better ways of excercising. And it really isnt that exspensive.
Leigh that is awesome on your consignment sales! i love consignment shops. there is one here but it is way overpriced because it is a tourist town. So yet another bummer....lol. Oh well, i am too happy about my weight right now to be bummed...lol. well anyway...i hope that yall have a great great day ladies!!:):)Misty
OMG Misty, I am SO proud and excited for you!! GREAT JOB!! =) I'm doing a little dance with you =)
I haven't tried turkey bacon yet, but I've been getting turkey sausage and ground turkey instead of hamburger. And turkey hot dogs sometimes =) We'll have to try the bacon next. It's so awesome to have stuff you love in a healthier way =)
I don't order magazines, because the kids always tear them up before I can read the whole thing! I have to hide them when they come in, and keep them hidden until I can read it, and they have some kind of sixth sense for my hiding spots =) Let us know when you get a really good tip =)
Congratulations again!! You are doing soooo good =) ~Shaina
Hi Misty & Shaina! CONGRATS that you're down to 199....YAY!!!! That is tremendous....I'm dancing with ya, too! ;-) Y'all forgive me, but I'm gonna weigh tomorrow. I know this is "dorky", but I've mostly been weighing on the Publix scales & ours at home weigh slightly different. I need a few items from there. Plus I'm VERY bloated with the monthly visit, so there probably won't be any lbs lost....although I've eaten good! Today was SO FUN, we went to a festival that was in a small nearby town and saw a Parade. My daughter LOVED it and I really enjoy seeing her have a great time. It was HOT as hades out there....we sweated like 3 pigs!
I've never tried turkey bacon or turkey beef (for hamburgers) either. I will have to try both. Thanks for passing that along! I DO read Prevention mag some and Reader's Digest, but I don't subscribe. If I see a good issue at the grocery store, then I buy it.
Misty, you must be HIGH AS A KITE over your AMAZING weight loss! I'm real HAPPY for you.....Shaina you did GREAT, too! Everybody has weeks like that and the fact that you didn't gain is wonderful!! :)
I usually make $25 thru the consignment shop, but a month ago, I did make $88. I DID place that Gymboree order, bc I had $25 worth of "free" (coupon)merchandise from my last purchase. I'm excited about her clothes, but it's just leggings and long-sleeved tops. Her Bday will be here in 2 weeks, so that will be FUN! :)
Have a WONDERFUL DAY and Shaina, CONGRATS on your beautiful NEW home! I long for the day when we're in a much bigger house, I'll be ecstatic!! Hey, WE ROCK!!! We're doing GREAT on our weight loss!!!!!! Leigh
Hey Leigh! That was so sweet =) Thanks! I don't think you're dorky for wanting to weigh a certain way. I have my weigh-in "ritual" too =) For me, it has to be as soon as I wake up, before I've eaten or drank anything, and only in my T-shirt and underthings =) haha That way I make sure there's no "extra" weight on the scale!
One thing I wanted to tell you about the ground turkey.... it can be a little dry, since it doesn't have much fat at all, so I usually don't make "hamburgers" with it. They're not "nasty" but they will be pretty dry instead of juicy. I usually use the ground turkey for other dishes that I would normally use ground beef in, like tacos and chili, even hamburger helper for something quick. The water and seasonings that you add help keep it from being so dry, and then you can't really even tell the difference. =)
Well, I better go. Hubby's ready to get to Lowe's for some "home improvement" shopping =) Talk to y'all later! ~Shaina
Hi Ladies! Write yesterday down on your calendars, bc I'm sure it won't happen again....LOL!! I ate dinner and did NOT eat any Brusters ice cream with my M-I-L and S-I-L afterwards. DANG! My stomach finally shrunk on the "inside", and I was stuffed....almost miserable and I just ate a moderate amt of food. Plus I forgot to tell y'all my jeans Thurs night were too big and I HAD to put on a belt. I wear all my shirts "out", so the ugly lil belt didn't show! LOL! :) I have "never" turned down ice cream OR a dessert, ever!!
THANKS for telling me about the ground turkey, bc I'm pretty sure I would have tried to make some hamburgers and then my hubby would have "ragged" me about my cooking. LOL! I'm making Hamburger Helper tonight btw. I'll let you know what my weigh-in was after the trip to the store. Oh yeah, my girl likes Chili's, but some days she is NOT in the mood to sit in a restaurant at lunchtime. Most of the time she does pretty good....but on her "busier", monkey days she'd rather be walking around the mall or at the Park. She does better when the restaurant has crayons or when I think to take some. I take these small books and read 2 quick stories, which works good, too. Have a NICE Sunday! I'm gonna "trip out" when I get down to 155.....I'm SO READY! That will be my Victory Dance....then I'll only have 10 bs more to go!!!! YAY! Leigh
Hey Ladies! Well, my great mood went right out the window after I stepped off the darn scales. UGH!!! I gained 2 lbs! I'm blaming it on the monthly visit and water retention, but apparently I ate too many calories this week. I'm mad with myself!! I've been stuck in the 170's for 5 weeks now....I'm determined to get in the 160's before Nov gets here!!! This is SO frustrating!! I'm going to work harder this week and drink more protein water. The late night munchie eating is sabotoging my diet. :( Leigh
Awwww man! We both had a bad week =( At least Misty did so well it evens out =) I bet your "gain" is just water retention. Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not sure the exact number, but I think it's 3300 or 3500 calories that equal a pound lost or gained. Judging by the way you've been exercising and eating so well, I doubt you ate 7,000 more calories than you burned this week =) It'll balance out, and you'll probably be in the 160's by next week!
The crayons and stories are a GOOD idea. I need to start packing toys along with all the other stuff in the diaper bag =) Don't know why I haven't done that.... I'm having a "duh" moment =)
It's going to rain here all week, and we still don't have all our furniture moved! I think my husband's staying home today, and we're gonna get busy as soon as daylight hits =) I'll talk to y'all later! ~Shaina
