hey we dont mind the long post.

I was just reading that about the fat stores the other day.  And i definatly hope that we are burning that off for sure!!!

Hey i know where Hot Springs is!  We havent been there but we used to go over to Eureka Springs 2ce a year.  It was where we went for our honeymoon!  We rented a cozy cabin with a huge jacuzzi tub in it!  It was really nice.  Before we moved here to new Mexico we lived in Tulsa oklahoma so it wasnt a bad drive to spend the weekend over there.  In fact, i am missing Oklahoma sooo bad right now.  i have the worst case of homesickness you can possibly imagine.  I HATE living in the country on this dang mountain!  I cant wait to get back to the city!!  Hopefully i will still be sane by the time we get to go!!!   And hopefully we will be going in the spring!   well i will finish my post in a little while .  Got to go.:)Misty

Hi Shaina & Misty!  Hot Springs sounds right up my alley, but that's a really long way from here. I like Savannah, GA for the same reason...they don't have the nice springs you're talking about, but have a beautiful historic district with a trolley tour. And of course, Paula Deen's restaurant from Food Network, whom I just LOVE!  I used to watch her show a lot, but haven't lately. Like you Shaina, I also had to stop getting acrylic nail tips & pedicures for the same reason. Now I treat myself once or twice a year. I recently got a facial though (gift from Mom) and it was relaxing, also. Pedicures at the place I go are $25, not too bad. Shaina, are you going to a Halloween party this year or having one at your house?  The 2 costumes you picked out sound cute!  Get a girdle from Target or the mall and that will FIX everything!  LOL! Honey, I wear one to Church and I swear it slims the "tire" down a whole size. I couldn't wear this size 12 skirt, but after putting that on, I could with a tiny bit of extra room. I LOVE that thing....mine looks like flesh colored biker shorts. :)

You in the hunting dept, sounds like me in the fishing dept!  I don't really fish with him, but I should. I know a lot about fishing, bc my dad is real into that and took me growing up. Shaina, do you deer hunt?  A lot of women do nowadays.

My hair is blond, just above my shoulders, but straight. (very thick, too) When I was 26 or 27, it was long....middle of my back with a spiral perm. It would take me waaaay too long to get ready if I had it long now. I love how I can fix it quickly and GO!  We only stay home 1-2 days a week.  Shaina, does your city have a "story time" at your library?  My daughter has the best time at that. Misty, by the time you got off that mountain story-time would be over. I'm just kidding you! LOL!  :)

Thanks for the info about belly fat. I need to keep walking!! In First Magazine they were talking about walking "slower" to burn more tummy fat. Change the pace from 10-15 min of fast, to 10-15 min of SLOW walking.  I've never heard that before! (have either of you heard that?) It says "when you slow the pace, the body takes the opportunity to burn fat & carbs to replenish adenosine triphosphate, the energy source that powers you thru intense activity".  Interesting! (says you will burn 3 X more belly fat that way!)

I really love Target, too.  All her play clothes come from there. And I really like their Cherokee brand and the Osh Kosh one you talked about....and their prices!  I buy a few things at Children's Place & Carter's, too. (and Gymboree, but they are expensive so I "have" to get their sales) Better GO, my post was very long, too!   Have a great day!  TTYL!    :)    Leigh

Misty, I'm SO SORRY, my posting was so long that I didn't get to read yours before mine was on there. I wouldn't have teased you about the mountain thing had I read yours. Girl, hang in there and keep your FAITH!!  It's only a matter of time, okay? Keep praying and God ALWAYS answers prayers! I wish you knew all the "miracles" I've had the opportunity of seeing. Sometimes (as you know) his "timing" is different than ours.  I'm currently in that situation as well. I live in a 1300 sq ft home with 2 bedrooms.  It's soooo small here that I can't stay home real often or I would definitely go BONKERS!  So, I go to my parents 3 days and visit with them to stay sane!  This is the sacrific of me staying home and not working.  We had to rent a storage unit, bc all our stuff won't fit here....now that we have our daughter. (Before her it all fit)  I'm dying to move across town. How ironic, I will evenutally be moving to the country and you to the CITY! ha!ha!ha  Hubby wants to live 10 min away from the city....but the neighbors are only spaced 5 miles apart in the area he likes.  :)  Leigh

HANG IN THERE and YES you will still be SANE!!!

 Hey Lee,

No worries!!!  I thought it was funny!  LOL!  Well i definatly know and believe in miracles....i have had WAY to many not to.  And last night was an example of a mini miracle.  My hubby and i were talking and i dont even know how we got on the subject, but before i knew it my secret homesickness just came spilling out!  I really thought Dee (hubby) was gonna be upset at me for wanting to go back home instead of up north.  But he completely understood and this morning we were emailing back and forth and he said that he was actually relieved to be going back home.  SO hopefully by april or may we will have enough money saved to get back home.  Girl it was like God lifted a boulder the size of texas off my chest.  Cause i hadnt told Dee that i had been feeling like this pretty much ever since we got here.  And i slept sound for the first time in months last night.  Oh and my girls were so happy they both started crying.  I tell ya, i may have been born and raised in the boonies of deep east texas but in the last 7 years i have become a full fledged city girl!  And i am proud to say it!!!..LOL!  And you know it is a like a miracle in itself when something great happens and you literally feel that cloud of depression lift from you.    And im sure that all this will only help me with my weight loss too.

I had heard that about the slow walking that you were talking about but i wasnt sure if it were true.  But i do variated walking anyway.  (DOnt laugh...lol) But i have a classical christmas Cd that i walk to every day that is just over 30 minutes long.   I put it on repeat and when it has played 2ce i know that i have walked my hour.  Well ladies have a great great day and i will ttyl!:)Misty

Hey girls!  That's an interesting fact, about how it helps your body to change speeds when walking.  I didn't know that!  I've been learning so much the past few months   =)    I go back and forth between running and walking, but only because I can't breath   =)   Now I can be assured that I'm doing something good for my body, too!   =)

I wish someone would plan a Halloween party around here! I'm sort-of a passive person, so even though I want to have a party, I will wait to see if anyone else decides to do one first   =)    ~Plus, I'm not sure I would have the time or money to plan a really great one, but I know that's kind of a cop-out...  My husband has a good friend at work whose wife I get along with great though, so I figure we'll probably do something with them.  ~They're fun-lovers like us~   =)

Misty, I'm so happy you finally told your husband how you felt!  I know it has to feel great to get something like that off your chest   =)   It can make you feel like a new person!

Well, I gotta go fix lunch for the kids.  Looking forward to chatting later   =)

Hi Misty!  WHEW!  I felt like a jerk for saying that. Your message was sent while I was typing the end of mine.

WOW....about your conversation and that you'll be going back home!  Praise the Lord!!  That's exactly how I'll be when we find a new home and are actually moving!  It will be such a JOYOUS time. Our 20 lb dog stays indoors and we're big people....hubby is 6'4".  It feels VERY cramped!  I meant to say in my post that the homes (where he wants to live) are 5 acres apart....not 5 miles. LOL! =)  Are your friends & family back home....like your sister?  If so, that will be really nice!  I couldn't live very far from my parents!!

Have you ever walked to a video like Leslie Sansone's "walk a mile" dvd?  I have 3 of those dvd's and they are awesome!  I enjoy her 2 mi the best!  The weather here is wonderful!  80 during the day and 64 at night, it's the perfect weather for going to the Park or walking!  I'm really impressed by your 14 lb weight loss....that is INCREDIBLE!!  I'm struggling to lose 4-5 lbs over here. (need to eat more raw veggies & fruit!)  When you get older it's HARD to get the lbs off!  I always heard it, but was "hoping" it wasn't true!

Been doing housework.  Do y'all clean house, only to have to re-do everything in about 3-4 days??  It's a never-ending thing here!  :(  TTYL!            Leigh

Shaina, You are a NUT!!  LOL!  That was hilarious about you going from running to walking only bc you can't breathe!  LOL!  Glad to know it wasn't just me.  I tried to jog one day and was getting winded, so now I stick to walking. :) Better get this lil girl down for her nap.  I'm gonna be thrilled when I get down to 165...think I'll aim for the short-range goals for now.  Keep up the GREAT WORK!!  :) :) :)   Leigh

Hey girls!  Misty, I've been to Eureka Springs only once when I was a kid, but I remember it being so beautiful, and such a fun and relaxing vacation.  We rented a little cabin on a lake too (maybe it was Beaver Lake? can't remember exactly....) but it was cute and quaint.  I'd love to take my kids there someday. The best thing about Arkansas is how laid-back people are in places like Eureeka Springs and Hot Springs, and how well-preserved the nature is around the lakes and mountains.  It's gorgeous   =)

Unfortunately, we live in a very urban area.  We've been looking for a house in the country (although I can't move too far out, because I have a habit of forgetting half of what I go to the store for, so it has to be close enough for me turn around and go back!  lol)    =)    Plus, we live in the same neighborhood as my parents, and I couldn't move TOO far from them.  But having two little girls has really made me appreciate the peace of mind that can come from country living.  When I'm outside swinging them, I get nervous when a stranger walks by.  You just never know about people, y'know?  I can't remember if I was posting here when this happened, but it was about a month or two ago, so probably not (?)  Anyway, it was scary.  Someone knocked on my door, and I've never really been a suspicious-type person, so I just opened it up.  It was a scraggly-looking guy holding a brown paper bag, and he was asking me about a car that was parked in front of my house. (it was my father in law's, last time he was in the hospital for a few days)  Anyway, he was telling me he wanted to buy it, and I was trying to tell him it wasn't for sale, but he just kept talking.... So rather than just close the door in his face, I told him I would take his number and he could talk to my father in law about it.  I moved only about six feet to get a pen, and this guy CAME INTO MY HOUSE.  It freaked me out! About that time, my husband came around the corner (thank God he stayed home from work that day!) and the guy backed up really quickly mumbling a phone number and left.  Man, that really taught me a lesson, you know?  So now, I'm a little more eager to move to a setting that doesn't include neighborhood convenience stores and nearby liquor stores, etc.    =)

Anyway, about the workout videos.... I have tried some in the past, although not the onces you mentioned. I used one a few years back (when I was still pretty skinny) and it really toned everything up.  I definitely could tell the difference, and I loved it!   =)    Then during my second pregnancy, I knew that I had gained too much weight the first time around, so I got a workout video designed for pregnant people and tried to do it daily.... but Jenna, my oldest, would say "Mommy I want to dance with you"   =)    and want me to hold her and dance her around while I tried to do the video.  I was already overweight, and pregnant on top of that, and I just didn't have the energy or really the physical capacity to do that, so I just gave up on the videos   =(    When I signed up for the gym, I figured it would be the best fit for me because I can just focus on my exercise and not have any "Mommy" responsibilities while I'm doing it.  IF I could do a living-room workout without having to hold one or more kids, or without having to stop 15 times to do something, then I would love to do it.... but I just don't think it would work for me    =)

Leigh, I'm having a hard time getting lots of fruits and veggies, too!  I don't think I'm really a "fruit" person.  I like green seedless grapes, but not enough to eat all of them before they get nasty, and I like strawberries, but I guess they're out of season now cuz I haven't seen them the past few weeks.... I don't really like anything else that I can think of    =(    I try to eat a serving or two every other day, but I have to make myself, and usually it's more like a serving or two a week    =(    ~Except juice, but it has tons of calories!~    I can usually eat some veggies, but nowhere near the 7 servings I've read is recommended.  More like 4   =)    But that's a big improvement for me, so I guess I should stay focused on improving   =)     Let me know of any fruits and veggies you like; I don't have a lot of experience eating them, so maybe there are other things I would like if I tried   =)

Hi Ladies!  That was scary what happened at your front door. I'm very cautious about opening my door, for that reason. Hey, try not to put your kids names on here or any personal info...(I know I sound like a paranoid mama hen, but too much goes on with abductions, but you know all that anyway)  PLEASE tell me what veggies you enjoy. I'm not a veggie person at all!  Growing up I loved meat, bread, & pototoes....sounds like a man!  :)  I would eat carrots & corn as a kid and that's it. Now I really like corn, carrots, squash casserole, and acre peas.  Oh yeah, and I do eat raw broccoli & carrots. Steamed broccoli & cauliflower are OK, but I'd rather eat it raw.

For fruits, I love strawberries, raspberries, and watermelon. My hubby & daughter love red, seedless grapes, blackberries, mandarin oranges, & blueberries. Their favorites are blackberries & grapes....so now I like blackberries, too. I really like pineapple (I buy those tidbits in the individual containers) and navel oranges.  My mom buys frozen sliced strawberries, but I haven't tried those. Also, my lil girl likes yogurt raisins, so I recently tried the dried cranberries (craisins) and they were tart & pretty tasty.

Shaina, do you eat 4 veggies per day? That is really great! I only eat 1 veggie per day, which isn't good. I probably eat 1 or 2 fruits a day. I've always been a junk food JUNKIE!  Wish you could have seen how many strawberry milkshakes I drank while pregnant! OMG!!  I had gest. diabetes and probably shouldn't have drank those.  Needless to say, she loves strawberry ice cream!  LOL!  :)  I forgot to say, I didn't know that about the fat around our organs, so I'm learning a LOT from you ladies, too!  Y'all have been terrific support & motivation for me!  I went from walking 2 days a wk to 6 bc of y'all!  My legs are in much better shape, now, too!  :)

I ate a huge supper (Chinese food...YUM!) tonight and goofed again, but Monday, I'm getting stricter about my portions.  I've been eating too much at lunchtime. (supper & breakfast I do okay) But also eating too many snack packs. Gotta quit that crap!    :)                   Leigh

I wasn't thinking about abductions and stuff! I usually try not to post too much info, but I should be more careful when it comes to the kids.

I can usually squeeze in about 4 veggies because I eat green beans for a snack (they're very low cal)  and then I eat at least one leafy salad, and then I try to have two veggies at dinner instead of one veggie and a starch like potatoes or pasta.  I don't really miss the potatoes, although I still fix stuff like that for my family and usually have a taste or two while I'm making their plates   =)    But I just feel like, if a bite or two can satisfy my taste for it, then it's a good thing and not "cheating"   =)    Maybe it's what's prevented me from making a skillet of fried potatoes and eating half of them myself   =)   Because I have done that before.....       I was eating way too much at supper time, and since I've started making myself eat more during the day I feel much more satisfied in the evenings, even if I have a small dinner.  I took the girls over to my parents' last evening after dinner, and my dad let my oldest "help" him make cookies    =)    Warm melty chocolate chip cookies.... I couldn't resist. So I had one, then another half. Then a small glass of milk, then a few pieces my kids left behind on their plates.... probably 2 1/2 or 3 cookies total, and I felt completely stuffed for the rest of the night!  I almost wanted to take an alkaseltzer or something because I felt way too full.  I won't be doing that again anytime soon, whereas before, i probably could have had a few more before I left, then come home and pretend I hadn't had a snack and have another one. (Did y'all ever do that?  It may sound stupid, and I don't know why I did it.... I mean, I didn't want anyone to know how much I was eating, but that didn't stop me from eating too much. Now that I think about it, it was pretty weird!)

I forgot about mandarin oranges! Those are really good. I kinda like blueberries, and I've tried raspberries and blackberries; I like one of them but not the other, and I can't remember which is which    =)    That shows how often I eat fruit! haha   Berries are good to put in cereal, so when we have them I do that.... I've used frozen blueberries before, but they definitely are not as good as fresh.  And I've had frozen strawberries, but I must have got the wrong kind because they were in some kind of sugary syrup stuff so I didn't eat them.  I grew up on meat, bread, and potatoes, too.... (cheeseburgers with meat and cheese only, tacos with meat and cheese only, etc.... and my 17 year old brother still eats like that. I sometimes think we were raised to be biased against fruits and veggies!)    =)     All of that stuff is so delicious that it's a hard habit to break.  I think we are doing an excellent job though, and we all deserve an "A" for effort!    =)          Oh, and I found some salsa with pineapples in it. Can't remember if I told y'all about it or not (I've posted several loooong ones; can't remember everything I've said!  haha)  but it's pineapple mango chipotle salsa, and it's fruity but also spicy (I love spicy!) and delicious   =)    I've been having some with multigrain tortilla chips for a snack; not sure if it counts as a fruit serving, but I doubt it    =)

I forgot that you asked me if I'm a deer hunter.  The answer is no way   =)   If a girl wants to go out and hunt, I fully support her for doing it, but I don't have it in me to shoot an animal.  Plus, my husband comes from a farm family, where his grandpa slaughtered pigs and such and then his grandma would make porkchops and sausage.... really rural stuff. They all love deer meat, but I can't bring myself to eat it.  And I imagine if I knew a pig before he became sausage, I wouldn't be able to eat that either.  When I see meat in the store, I just don't associate it with a cute little animal, so I don't have a problem buying it and cooking it, but when I see a deer being cleaned.... there's no way I could eat that.  I'm not really outdoors-y, other than just appreciating and enjoying the beauty of nature.  I'll do a hike through the woods or a novice mountain climb, or raft down a river, but no fishing or hunting or camping   =)

Well, laundry calls (the dryer just buzzed).... I'll chat with y'all later!  ~Shaina

Hey Shaina!  I've never camped out, hunted, or even shot a gun....not real outdoorsy either. I'm like you, in that I really appreciate nature. I've gone hiking in the mtns about 4 times, but not more than 2 miles and I did go white water rafting....got a bit scared during one part. LOL! LOL!

I thought of another fruit for you...peaches. I buy those small individual servings of fruit (like some moms put in kids' lunches) of pineapple, peaches, and pears. They do have fruit cocktail, too....but I only like it "okay". I think you might like the pineapple and peaches. You can also grill pineapple and put it on top of grilled chicken....YUM!! (or grill peaches in a piece of foil)

I'm VERY impressed that you eat 4 veggies a day....I really thought you meant 4 in a week. LOL!  That's ME....5 in a week!  LOL!  I think you've motivated me to eat more salads & veggies!! Last night I had a bad case of the munchies "again" and ate raw carrots for a change!

You sound a lot like me!  I do the same thing about the grocery store. Forget 1/4 of what we needed and have to go back. The other night at the track my hubby & I talked about that....how when we move 10 miles out, I'll have to make lists and READ them. :) My problem is that I don't "read" my lists. LOL!  How funny is that?  Sometimes I forget to write something down we need and other times don't read my darn list. LOL!  Also, I can't eat ANY animal that I fed, etc (like your husband's family & the pigs) that "weirds" me out.  You should try deer meat once maybe. I ate a deer burger and it was OK, but it took a lot of courage for me to do it. I also tried quail and duck. The quail really does taste like chicken, but the duck had a "wild" gamey taste. I've eaten quail a few times....hubby used to quail hunt.  I ate the SAME foods growing up....never put anything on my tacos except meat & cheese like you. I've always loved most any meat or fish.  I've never tasted a piece of fish I didn't like, including the strong ones, like mullet.

IF we ever drive out West, then I really will stop at Eureeka Springs & Hot Springs. They both sound like places I would enjoy!  I'm glad you told us about those places. Girl, all I know is GA, FL, and a little about NC. LOL!  All our vacations are pretty much to the beaches!  :)  I LOVE the beach, don't you?   Another long post.....gotta go walk, before it gets too hot.

I might not be able to get on here Sat or Sun, but will be back on Mon!  I might be doing stuff with friends this w-end.  Gosh, I hope so, bc I'm missing them lately.  Have a GREAT w-end, Shaina!  Have a GREAT w-end Misty!  TTYL!           Leigh

PS: I'm soooo PROUD of us for losing all these pounds, you two are doing AWESOME! I'm even proud of my measley 3 lbs. WE ROCK!!   :)  :)

Hey Shaina, hey Lee,

Ladies i am fixing to tell off on myslef bigtime...lol!!!

MY LORD I AM A HICK!!!!  I may love the city now but i was born and raised half texas hick /half louisiana coona**!  LOLOLOL!!!

I have hunted AND helped clean a deer!  I LOVE to fish almost as much as i love to shop....and i have cleaned my share of those as well!!!  I have eaten deer, buffalo, elk, rabbit  AND squirrel...lololol!  Some of it good..some not!  I enjoy camping, i love fourwheelers, motorcycles and muddy old dirt roads.  (Havent got to do that in a long while...lol.)  I love to go boating and canoeing.  Oh and did i mention that the crazy cajun in me LOVES crawfish and crab legs!!   LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!

But you know the funniest thing to me now is that even as i am writing most of this im sitting here with my little pug nose crinkled and thinking, "Oh my LORD!  That is just sad...lol!!"   Im so happy that my hubby transformed me into  a lady-like city girl...lolol!!!!

ANYWAY.......i know that i dont get that many veggies a day.  I at least try for three a day but i dont always achieve it.  And i think that i am probably getting a little to much carbs...but i guess it is not bad as long as i am still losing.  Speaking of losing, tomorrow is weigh in day ladies!!!  We gotta keep on weighing and posting....good or bad...lol!  Gotta keep being there for each other!  WE CAN DO THIS!!!!  WE ARE DOING THIS!!

so ROCK ON ladies!!!  :)Misty

Hey Girls!  MISTY---OMG!!!!  I can't believe you've cleaned a deer! LOL! And you've eaten squirrel, buffalo, & rabbit...YUCK! LOL! You are TOO funny! :)  I do like 4-wheeling, BUT I won't go thru any mud!  I enjoy riding on the back with my hubby, but have also driven. As a kid, I would ride go-karts on every vacation, that was mega fun to me. Actually I rode go-karts in May at a theme park while my dad & daughter watched.  :)  But I LOVE jet skis and rent one when we go to the beach.

This morning started off with a BANG, but has improved a lot! My girl wouldn't mind for nothing & was WILD as a monkey. She hid from me when it was time to go to Walmart & hid my shoes....you name it and she did it!  It's FUNNY now, but at the time I was annoyed after hours of that. My hubby is "clueless" to all the DRAMA that goes on, in the process of walking out the door.  It takes at least 30 min to simply WALK OUT THE DOOR!

At Walmart I rolled laughing....so I feel great now!  You will love this: I saw this T-shirt that said: "If the broom fits RIDE IT!" LOL!  But the other one was much funnier: "I'm not easily scared, I have a mother-in-law!"   Which reminded me that about 5 yrs ago, I was in FL and saw this motorcycle guy wearing a shirt that read: "If you can read this, the B*tch, fell off"   I wasn't expecting it to say that, so I laughed until I nearly cried.

Shaina, tell me about Protein Water. You mentioned that previously and in another forum, a lady was talking about that, too.  I was going to ask you where it's located, but today I found it by the slimfast products. I'm drinking it right now. Does it REALLY calm your hunger like it says??  Misty, have you tried protein water?  I would love for something to calm my hunger on those "munchie" nights. Have y'all tried Slimfast snack bars?  I got the chocolate peanut nougat....OMG!!!  It tasted a LOT like a Snickers bar...YUM!!

The only thing I like as much as shopping is TRAVELING!  But lack of extra funds keeps me from doing it much.  We went to Las Vegas the year before my daughter was born & that was one of my favorite trips. We had a blast and both want to go back. I went to the Grand Canyon with a tour group (like a nut!) while he was in a seminar.  It was this small 20 passenger plane (crop duster....LOL!) that flew to the Grand Canyon and then got on a tour bus and went to various look-out points. The plane ride back was very turbulent from wind and scared the BEJESUS out of me!  Okay, another waaaaaay too long post!  Y'all have a wonderful day!  :)            Leigh

Haha! I hope I see that mother in law shirt when I go to Wal Mart. I think I might buy it, just to tease her   ;)

Misty, I love riding four wheelers through the mud, too. Guts I can't handle, but mud is fun   =)     We took our SUV through the mud a few weeks ago, and it was so much fun watching the windows get covered    =)

I weighed in today, and I'm down to 155.5!!!!  Yay!  I'm so excited   =)    If I can lose 20 more pounds this year, I will be at my goal!  It sounds so do-able. At the beginning of the year, I thought it would take FOREVER to lose that much weight.

Well, we're about to go run some errands, so I'll talk to y'all later   =)
