Hi, everyone.  I'm a brand new Slim Fast user and I have over 100 pounds to lose.  I'm 32 and the mother a 9-year-old little girl.  I gained my weight over the past 7 or 8 years with a lot of emotional and boredom eating.  I've tried Weight Watchers and plain old calorie counting but haven't been able to stick with the plan.  Since I'm so new to this, I'd like to ask you to please reply with a few tips and hints that help to keep you motivated.  I start my Slim Fast 12-week challenge tomorrow and I've never even had a sip of Slim Fast in my life.  I'm nervous but looking forward to success.  I've never used any kind of online community forum to help me lose weight, so go easy on me, haha.

Thanks a lot for any advice you might have.  :-)

Hi and welcome! First bit of advice is to believe in yourself....you can do this plan and you can live a healthy life.  Look at the menu plan and follow the recommendations for calories....try the new recipes...and drink lots of water.  The first few weeks are probably the most difficult as you go about changing your eating habits; but the first couple weigh ins are great...that is motivation to keep you going! It is absolutely amazing to see those first 10 lbs. drop off...eat lots of veggies & fruits when you get a craving and find some kind of exercise plan that works for you....I walk with Leslie Sansone dvds each day...it really does make a difference.  Whenever I am tempted to have a dessert; I ask myself if it is worth walking an extra mile to burn off calories...sometimes it is and sometimes not...always keep track of your calories for the day...then you know if you can allow yourself a cookie if you want one.  If you follow the menu plan; you probably won't be hungry as it is designed to keep you feeling full.  Above all else, you are setting a healthy example for your child...what a wonderful gift to give your daughter.  Also, break the weight loss into smaller goals...don't look at it as over 100 lbs. to lose...I break my goals into 25# losses....and reward myself when I lose those 25#...not with food though....my first reward was a new handbag and I just went to the salon for a new hairstyle for my 3rd reward....some members break their goals into 10 lbs at a time...whatever works for you.  And always, always stay active on this site...read the posts, post your questions/concerns and really use all the tools available here....you can do this...believe!  Good luck to you on this grand journey to a better future....Hugs, SisterC

Welcome!  We will all look forward to watching your journey.  I 2nd Sister C . I would also say that you should come here even when you are not having a good week.  You may also want to join in on one of the other weigh in days such as Thursday weigh in group or Friday's Christmas Challenge.  Best wishes!

Welcome, I'm new here too, just finishing up my 7th day.  Very excited about my upcoming weigh-in on Thursday morning.  Excited to see a scale, what a new life I'm living already.  I wanted to say you did a great thing by posting on the board. The people here are great for lending that "virtual" hand and getting you through it.  I think more than any one key factor, this board is why I've made it seven days, second was the water :)
