  • I too have cried also. In fact I remember one exact day. It was Valentines day of this year. I was going out to dinner with my mom her boyfriend and my boyfriend and our baby girl. I wanted to get dressed up to make myself feel a little better about all the baby weight. Nothing worked out. So I ended up going in a t-shirt and sweat pants. UGH!!!! On my way to meeting my mom I cired. I havent ever been over weight in my life until I got pregnant. my boyfriend was there for me and told me not to cry. A couple of months later I decided to do the slim fast diet and Ive been on the plan for a little over 2 months and hes supported me since day one. Its nice to have someone by your side. I think it helps more than they could ever really know. We should all be so lucky to have them.

  • Ladies -

My husband and I have always enjoyed walking, both for ourselves and our two dogs. You guys are so right when you say that having that connection with someone when you are trying to get in shape is a big motivator!!

I have bipolar disorder and have recently been riding the roller coster emotionally and I lost my job - I have no umph, been sleeping too much, it's really hard.

Thank you for sparking my motivation.

  • That is awesome that your husband will go out with you and do that. I just recently started bike riding 3 miles 4-5 times a week early in the mornig. My husband insisted that we go out this past Saturday and get him a bike so he could too. It was so nice to be able to go for a family bike ride Saturday afternoon...we have 4 kids so he pulled the two smallest in the pull behind cart on his bike. He's even offered to go biking with me in the mornings when he's home (he works over nights and usually isn't home til 7). My children also LOVE walking and bike riding so they are my support system too when they don't drive me crazy. =)

Anyway, like you I too have joined things, cried over the bigger size pants and felt miserable! And luckily I too have always had a great loving and supportive husband. It's nice to know we have that support person there and even better to have them next to us encouraging and working right along wtih us. I know it makes me feel good and extra loved to see him out there next to me! And thanks for your comment also....

"No matter what I'm proud of everyone on the site for trying and always doing your best."

  • I have joined gym after gym.  Cried a river when having to buy a bigger size of pants. The entire time my hisband encouraged me.  "Its okay, babe."  Or, "I'm proud of you."  The worst one of all, "I love you no matter what size you are."  One morning I came home from work extremely energetic and dragged him out of bed to go walking with me.  My husband is not a morning person.  He got out of bed for me and we set out.  He told me to jog.  I haven't jogged in five years.  I was so quickly out of breath I wanted to cry at how unhealthy I have let myself get.  Then and there I think my husband got the idea to torture me to make me happy. J/k.  Everyday we jog/run for thirty min and strength train for thirty and stretch some.  It has been four days and the soreness is starting to go away and I have already lost three pounds.  True he has to drag my big bottom out of bed to do it.  But he does it for my health.  I think maybe if our spouse, our closest friend sees what we go through they may be the biggest help.  Keep in mind my husband is 6'0" and only weighs 130 soaking wet.  He has truly been the best thing that has ever happened to me.  I had tried to work out with my mom, but we always go out to eat after thirty minutes of walking at a normal pace.  Chris pushes me to push myself to things I can do just don't.  We are capable of doing great things if we push ourselves hard enough.  Find the muscles underneath and make them work to burn off whats hiding them.  No matter what I'm proud of everyone on the site for trying and always doing your best.
