  • Having someone else to help with the motivation is great. My wife has been encouraging me and it is good to hear her say she is proud of me. On the other hand, it is really up to us to do it on our own. No one is gong to hold your hand and grab that spoon of ice cream away from you. The task is yours and so the victory will be yours as well. You are on the diet. Stay there. Endure. The winner is the one who lasts longest, stays the course. Suffers the slings and arrows, etc. Ultimately you will succeed! And VICTORY IS SWEET!!!

    We are all guilty of getting side tracked by circumstances beyond our control, but now "We Must" keep a conscious awareness about what and how much we put into our mouths.  We must think of ourselfs as a "Priority, not an option anymore", if we are to achieve our goals.  Yes, by all means start walking again, even if you have to do it by yourself.  I schedule four walks a week for myself ( by myself), and that is the time I reflex on my new goals and what pit falls I must avoid without  any distractions.  After these nice walks, it helps to keep me more focused on healthy foods and portions.  If you just need a little push to get started, just do it!  You'll feel better and it will be your jump start to the new you.  Keep Motivated and get walking!  You Can do it!  (don't forget to bring the water bottle)

  • Hi Cathy, I too am 5'5 and I started at 195. so I know where you are coming from and I know you can do it. And as long as you hang out here you are not alone. ( I am 45 )

    I am kind of stuck right now, haven't lost any real weight in a while but I know I will.  I hope it will be soon, I would like to be at my goal weight, before my birthday in July.

  • Am a 39 year old grandmother and mother of two. I weigh 198 lbs, which for my short frame of 5' 5" is over weight. I try and eat right and exercise but something always seems to get me side tracked. I walked a couple of years abck with a friend of mine but she moved away. I'm going to have start walking by myself and on my own. I just need someone to keep me motivated. Cathy
