  • HI Pattyc,  I would love to be your buddy, after all I need one too.  I am just starting "today" so it would be great to start off with a pal.  I am 53 years old and I have aprox 40 lbs to lose.  I have lost weight in the last the most I have lost was 22 lbs but I gained 10 lbs back.  I want to lose enough to look good in shorts and Tshirt for this summer. My family has a 4th of july party by the pool and I always find my self avoiding the fun out of fear of getting  wet and having my cloths out line my rolls.  I really want to get rid of the curves that roll out ( ) and get the curves that roll in ) ( and who knows maybe I might want to wear a bathing suit if all goes well.

  • Take measurements.  If you are getting smaller in inches then you obviously are losing weight and therefore the number on the scale doesn't really matter.

  • Guppypuppy,

10 hours a week of exercise - good for you!!! You are definately losing - you may just not see it on the scale.  I know, I have the same problem and it is discouraging not seeing that number change - funny isn't it that we are ruled by the numbers. You should break out that tape measurer and keep it handy.  Even better, someone before suggested trying on a tight clothing item weekly - and notice how your body is changing.  Chances are you will fit into it soon! I use a pair of pants because all my weight is in the bottom half.  If the scale isn't budging, I'm sure the inches are.  And make sure that you are getting your calorie intake and drinking all your water - for as much as you exercise you should be on the "moderate" plan or more.  And again- keep positive because you are getting healthy !!

  • Atrayou,

Most of the time I'm motivated with my exercise.  But like I told my husband last night, "the more I exercise, the more I'm hungry."  (I exercise about 2 hours a day, 5 days a week.  It makes me feel good (no pain in my muscles) but at night my eating is out of control.  What a catch 22.  Today is weigh in.  I'm up 3 pounds! LOL!  I've started over a gazillion times and I'm frustrated.

My weight loss is slower than most because:

    1) I have a thyroid problem - The thyroid controls your weight hormones.

    2) I lift weights three days a week - The more muscle the better - means less fat.  (But muscles weighs more than fat:(  (..Lol)

     Problem:

How do I face my weekly weigh in?  I know numbers shouldn't matter, but they do when you come right down to it.  Then I begin to feel helpless and out of control.  I need something to help me keep going even when the going gets tough.

I would appreciate any input you could give.

  • Hello I would love to join your group! I too have motivational problems. While I have started my weight lose program about 2 weeks ago. I find myself being motivated for 2 days and then it goes away. I have been using the slimfast shakes for my sweet tooth that seems to attack me at night. Low and behold to my surprise I have lost 6 lbs. But I do not feel it in my clothes. I have great exercise DVD's it is just getting myself to push play! I just want to wake up with my old body from a year ago. I keep thinking is this a nightmare???

So with that I would love to join this group and hopefully get mtoivated and help others motivate as well!

  • Good morning  I would love to be your buddy.  I don't think of this as a diet but a life stlye change.  I know that I have to change my eating habits, drink more water and be active.  Each day is a brand you new day for a new started.  I know that you can do this and be healthier.  Have a great day.

  • I will be your buddy, I need all the encouragement I can get also
