  • Wow!!  Congratulations on the 78 pound mark!!!!  That's awesome!  I can relate to working too much and having too little social life -- they go hand in hand.  Guilty...  I'm proud that you're taking the steps to get out of an unhealthy relationship.  That's BIG.

  • I have to let you know how much respect I have for you.  Your life is not easy and you are succeeding at something very difficult.  Your success is inspiring.  I have lost 30 lbs and have two or three times that to go.  Your success helps me to believe that I too can succeed.  I bet you look great! 

    I have discouraging days too.  As I have been learning to eat right, I have noticed that the day after eating a bunch of junk, I don´t feel so well.  When I eat the right amounts of the right foods I feel better.  It´s surprising to me that I went 30 years without noticing the effect that my eating habits had on how I felt from day to day. 

    I´ve been through some rough times as well.  One day you will be able to look back and realize that although you´ve lived through some tough stuff, you are okay.  I remember the day I realized that I had a wonderful life and that I couldn´t remember the last time I thought about the nightmares I had lived through.  Yes, there are still days that I get down on live, but I have the strength and the skills to pull myself out of the low spots. 

    I hope you can find friends.  I know how hard it is to have a social life when you work, sleep and go back to work.  Doing something for yourself can be very rejuvenating.  Think about the things you enjoy and where you would be able to connect with someone who liked the same thing.  I have a little garden around my house and my neighbor spends all of her time gardening.  I enjoy the 5 minutes a couple times a week that I talk to her.  I use my garden to unwind at the end of the day.  Half an hour trimming bushes or pulling weeds is as good as a nap.  I also find social opportunities at church.  Even the small conversations before Sunday school can be helpful.  I like to ask one person each week about how they are doing, then I just listen.  It helps me put my life in perspective.  Sometimes they give me good advice and they don´t even know it.

    So, you may not do gardening or church, but there is probably something you do anyway where you can connect with someone.  We don´t have be party animals to be social.  One good friend is better than a room full of strangers.

  • Wow, that is amazing!  You have done a great job so far and I am inspired by you...of course, a lot of us can relate to the work too much, have little social life plus personal issues.....we just need to know that we are stronger than we let outselves believe...we can do this, we can reach our goals and we will live healthy....take one day at a time...focus on feeling good...and all that extra energy that comes with it....we are all in this together....keep working at it!!  Hugs, SisterC

  • I work to much, have very little social life, and am going through a much needed divorce.  I didn't do so well yesterday and want to make sure I stay on track today.  Buddies in this area would be much appreciated.
