  • Did you know they (I believe it's not butter brand) makes an olive oil based butter spray that is calorie and fat free, and has olive oil?  Don't ask me how they do it.  It is probably not as good as the real thing, but worth giving a shot if you want to not add unnecessary calories.

Also, I love subway's veggie delight.  Did you get the nutrition facts from their website? I've been doing this new eating plan for about a week (down 6 pounds, hooray!!!) and used to eat their tuna subs all the time (super high in fat and cal's, thanks mayo:) ) but if i can get their veggie delites for a reasonable amount of cal's, then I'm swearing off my swearing off of subway.

  • Diet pills are sketchy....i can't remember the exact one, but while in highschool, my sister took some sort of diet pill for a year and a half.  Her doctor is attributing her newly diagnosed hypothyroidism to diet pills and an over-intake of soy products.  Hypothyrodism makes you gain a ton of weight, regardless of what you eat or how much you work out.  Shes 5'3" and now around 220 pounds, from about 170.  don't chance the pills folks....i'm sure not all people have reactions like this and not all will do this to you, but extreme caution, friends.

  • Fit TV is a television program - where all that plays is like 30 minute workouts all day long. I am prone to migranes as well. I tried Trimspa before for like two days but I think the high levels of caffeine  and my migranes didn't go well together. I am just going to reduce my caloric intake to 1000 calories a day and see how thats goes. My plan is to lose  at least 13 lbs by October 25, 2009. If I actually stick to my diet plan and I don't meet that goal then I will probably invest in some type of detox pill or maybe that detox system that where the infomercials are always coming on tv.

Yesterday I had  Honey Nut Cheerios with Soy Milk Light and Plain for Breakfast. A Veggie Delite footlong with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, light mayo, olive oil, and provolone cheese.  For dinner I had a a half of a serving of rice and about 3 oz of beef, and a glass of Healthy Balance Juice. This added up to 1142 calories 145 carbs 37 fat 58 protein 1473 sodium and 13 grams of fiber. Next time I think I will skip the olive oil because that accounted for 10 grams of fat and also put 1 slice of cheese on the footlong as opposed to two. I am not ready to give up mayo or bread yet - Maybe I will switch to the flatbread instead.

  • Doing weights while watching TV is a good idea, i never thought of that! I haven't done a weigh in yet, but im hoping 2 lbs lol what is fit TV?  I personally wouldn't do the diet pills. I'm prone to migranes as it is, and one of the major side effects are headaches. are you thinking about taking them?

  • I talked to my doctor about the protein powder and "bulking up" as well, because I didn't want to look like a man.  He told me that taking it in moderation (meaning one scoop instead of two) is a good idea for someone who isn't eating enough protein in the first place. He also told me that if I do a steady amount of cardio and lifting exercises that it should result in long lean muscles instead of manly muscles. He told me he wasn't advocating the powder, that I should just eat more nuts, beans, chicken and fish, but if I feel that I can't eat that much, that the protein powder is an acceptable substitute.

Congrats on the two pound loss! I've lost a pound in the last three days as well. Thirteen more to go.

I'd say definitely talk to your doctor about the pills.

  • Oh okay. Yeah I have tried like natural fat flushes or detoxes but I am a little afraid to take diet pills because of the possible side effects  - I don't mind working to get and keep the weight off but sometimes I get discourages since I was at a stand still [not anymore I weighed myself today and I am down two more lbs :-)] As far as the protein powder... With the 6 Week Body Makeover it told me that for the must part I should shy away from protein because even though I have some fat - underneath it I have a muscular tone for a female -so I don't want to get that "bulky" look.

  • I've never taken any diet pills myself. My husband took a bunch of energy boosters that he got from GMC which ended up just making him really crabby and a little bit paranoid. So they're not my favorite thing in the world. One thing I do add to my diet is protein powder. One to two scoops of the protein powder adds an extra 60 grams of protein. The only problem you might find with that though is that it does add calories, so you'd need to factor that in.

  • Yeah it definitely helps when you have someone who works out with you . I have been trying to get friends to work out with me and they will go a day or so and then after wards they will just talking about yeah I agree the walking it is  and because of go to class every day I walk to class and back to get my mile in  - its probably a little over but I don't really know how to measure it. Personally I think  I would like to eat less, so I can exercise less. So I am going to try to stick to around 1200 calories to get this next 15lbs off, walk five days a week, add the crunch component everyday and add about 30 minutes of fit tv 3 times a week - that seems like a reasonable goal for me. As an added note? How do any of you feel about diet pills?

  • Most of it is actually really easy to do. Walking every day is easy (unless it's raining). Doing the crunches and squats in the morning before I get ready gets it out of the way. I have a 20 lb ketel ball at my house, so when I can't get to the gym, I do weight lifting exercises with that while I'm watching TV. I like doing the other exercises at the gym (I am not a big fan of running outside where I live because it's so humid and I don't have a basketball court anywhere near me), and it helps that I have my husband working out with me.
