I thought about what size I want to be. I would like to be able to shop in the normal sizes with some wiggle room. I'm a size 20 pant right now, I think aroudn 225 I would be an 18, then 200 would be about 16, 175 would be 14. I would feel thin in a size 12 pant and that would make it possible for me to buy clothes anywhere. Plus I think this weight is do-able at my height 5'7".

Re: Goals

My ultimate goal is 150. I'm 5'10" and that is a good height for my weight. When I met my husband I was 135, and right when I got pregnant with my now 6 year old I was 165. Alot of people told me that I looked too skinny at 135, so I just picked 150. But I will be happy just to get down to 170, and I will reassess then.

Re: Goals

Hi,

That is a great question and is one people always ask! I picked a weight closer to the high end of the healthy weight range for my height. I have been overweight and obese since I was 8 years old, so being in the healthy weight range at all is a huge deal for me. I also have a sister who is my height and slender. She struggles with her weight, too, but she is certainly nowhere near fat. I use her as a kind of gauge for what I would like to look like. I'm pretty sure she wears a size 8 or 10 dress. When she got down to 150 pounds, she was too thin, so I picked 160 for my goal. If I want to keep losing past that I can, but I want to be realistic, too. 160 might sound like a lot, but I'm 5'10" so it would be spread out! :) To me, though, it sounds so light! I can't remember being under 200 lbs in my life. I think the important thing is to see how you actually feel about yourself at the weight you've chosen. If you are comfortable and the weight is easy to maintain, you are at a good weight. Don't worry so much about the number on the scale, just find what works for you. I hope this helps!

I looked at this site for a weight that fell in the healthy weight zone and seemed to be realistic but I chose mine more on the high end of what I could weigh. Now I'm thinking that when I get down to my goal weight I could actually decide to lose another 10 pounds easily. I guess maybe I'll have to wait till I get to my goal and reaccess then. How did you all decide on your goal weights?
