Typical for a first or second week, I think. Since then I've been losing 1-2 lbs a week. Last week I lost 3. When I first started I went to the weight loss calculator on this site and put my birthday in as a goal date. It said I could lose 24 lbs by my b'day. My b'day is in 3 weeks and I've lost 22 lbs so far, so it was pretty accurate. One thing that has helped me get through is that I don't believe everything is carved in stone. I sometimes follow the menu plan but sometimes I do different recipes that are low in calories. You'll get the hang of it. Don't forget we're all here to help. Just ask if you have any questions! Take care and good luck!!! Jan

Re: newbie

Good luck on the program! I am an LPN and I know how hard school was way back when I graduated (1988) like Sister C says keep plenty of healthy snacks on hand for when you are studying. The great thing about slimfast is there isn't alot of prep time for two meals a day! Think about your choices for that other meal, keep some lean cuisines in the freezer in case you just don't have time to cook and even McDonald's has healthy choices these days! I hope you love your job as much as I love mine! It has been one of the biggest blessings in my life, aside from my kids and Alan. It is nice to be able to go to work every day and feel like you were able to make a difference! I work on an Alzheimer's unit and I love it! So congrats on joining this site and on nursing school! Here's to your future!!!

Re: newbie

SisterC summed it all up :-) Welcome to the program and good luck!

Re: newbie

Congrats for joining the group and welcome!!! If you follow the plan the way you should, you will get all the nutrients needed to make your body work the best....that being said, check out your meal plan and it will help you to plan your meals for a week at a time...you can swap items around as long as the calories are about the same. Follow that and you should lose 5-10 the first week...mostly due to water weight and then about 2 pounds a week after that....and since you are a nursing student, you already know that 2 pounds a week is a healthy weight loss goal. Key to the program is to get your exercise routine started and keep it up...it really shapes those muscles and gives you more lasting energy. What can you expect??? Well, everyone is different, but the first few weeks are probably the hardest because your mind thinks you need to eat high calorie foods...cravings! Be prepared with lots of fresh veggies & fruits...don't beat yourself up if you slip, just get back on track right away....The first week is also spent running to the bathroom....peeing like a racehorse LOL....but keep drinking the water anyway...it helps to fill you up and flushes out your system. You will notice a big difference in how you feel...more energy and not as sluggish... One major thing you really should do is to chart your weight on the site....makes you accountable each week...and then post it for all members to see your progress.... Don't forget to team up with a few good buddies....somedays they are what keeps you going. I hope this helps you and I wish you lots of strength. You can do it; believe in yourself! Hugs, SisterC

newbie

so i just started this program... when you follow everything like u are sopposed to how fast does the weight come off and what can i expect
