  • I agree with Sister C.  Any small things you can do at first to increase your activity are going to benefit you!  I have been really lucky.  I started having knee pain in my right knee when going down stairs  and it prompted me to start this program.  I love Richard Simmons and he is low impact in his aerobics but you still work up a sweat!  Leslie Sansone DVD's are great as well.  I have found lately I get tired of the same old thing so I try to mix it up between those two and walking outdoors when the weather is nice!  As you get used to activity and start to drop the weight you will notice less pain.  Now I can use the stairs without any pain at all!

  • I started this plan with about 150# to lose...therefore, I wondered if I would be able to exercise at all.  The first few weeks, I didn't do any and then it dawned on me...I could walk around inside my house!  So from then on, I added steps to every move I made.  If I was going to set or clear the table, I just walked around it twice instead of once, I would make two trips to the laundry room instead of one...carrying just 1/2 the load each time...I walked in place at the stove while I made meals.  Anything that I could do that was moving and getting exercise.  Then my daughter's dog came to live with me for 3 months...that meant walking outside around the block at first. By the time she left, the weather was warmer and we were walking a mile or more every day.  Now I walk at least 3 miles a day, sometimes to an indoor dvd, but it gets easier as the weight comes off and you feel so much better. Now that I am 5 months into this plan; I am finding that I have more muscle strength and the knees don't hurt hardly at all. I still have about 100# to go, so I know that I must keep doing what I am doing and increase my walking.  You can do it too!!  Just take it slow to start with and build more exercise into your days.  Stay strong! Hugs, SisterC
