  • oh yeah...who can't relate to that!!  this whole thing is about thinking different about food from start to finish.  food has been the source of your current PAIN so why would you use something that has HURT you as a reward?  isn't that like standing in a bucket and trying to pick yourself up???   i bet that's a major challenge!

choose a much better reward that has nothing to do with food.  food is for nourishment, not a reward system.  that is the old way.  you must completely change your behavior AND the way you think about food.  you didn't get overweight eating salads and beansprouts only after a morning jog, sister!  you got overweight eating calorie dense foods and thinking of them as "pleasure"....same as most of us did.

  • Yea, I'm going to start rewarding myself with things other than food. I knew the fish had 360calories..but I thought that was good because slimfast says to eat a dinner of no more than 500 calories.

thanks for everyones input. I appreciate it!

  • I definetly agree with xbonbonx don't reward yourself with food a manicure or pedicure is a great idea and has no calories ha ha ha LOL!

You can do it Stick with it!

  • I understand your frustration on the Fish. Do you know how many calories McDonalds Fish has?  Try 360 calories!  Another thing you might try when you reward yourself. Don't reward yourself with Food.  I don't do that anymore, logic being, how did I get to this weight. Rewarding myself, which got me more weight. So I reward myself with a walk, or a new shirt, a manicure,  something thats not food! Don't get discouraged, after all your doing this for you and nobody else! Good Luck!

  • Make a note of it, and if you want to splurge. try something else. I don't know why, but pasta does the same thing to me. One small bowl and I will gain 2-3 pounds,  But I can do pizza or something else and be just fine.  I wish some one could explain it to me.

  • That's horrible! I wouldn't have thought a fish sandwich would have done that :O But I agree with not beating yourself up over it. Just remember not to eat it again... Maybe you shouldn't reward yourself with food after a week, also, maybe like every other week or once a month. Or if you want to reward yourself weekly, try non-food related things- manicure/pedicure, hair cut/style, movie, etc... Hope this helps :) Keep your head up, don't think about it too much. It happens.

  • Hey dont beat yourself up; this is just a lesson learned. I have bad things about the type of fish that McDs uses. I suggest you grab the eat this not book its great. I would say that you shouldn't reward yourself after a week I would say after a certain amount of weight lost, furthermore, I try to stay away from fried foods it would have been better to grab a burger I believe you can burn chicken & beef faster than that fish.

  • Yea i'm kinda upset now. I told myself last week that if I do well all week, I'll get a fish sandwich from Mcdonalds on Sunday....well I did great last week...I stayed on the diet everyday and was very proud of myself. I lost 3 pounds last week!!!!!

So yesterday I got a fish sandwich from Mcdonalds to reward myself.....today I weigh myself and I'm 4 pounds heavier than yesterday!!!!! That pisses me off so much! It's like all the work I did all week was for nothing! It's not like i had the fish with huge fries, ice cream, coke..and whatever else..it was just the fish..nothing else..and it makes me gain 4 pounds????????????????????????????

:( this sucks! I thought it's good to reward yourself after a week of hard work..but why do it if it's going to make you gain all the weight back????
