  • Hi Everyone I to am in the same boat I have over 100 pounds to lost. I weighed this morning and I weigh 278 I would like to be 150 I hope I can do it. I started the slim fast yesterday I think I did very well. I only went over by 40 calories from what this site says I should eat. So I today I'm going to do better and not go over my 1700 calories. I am not working out yet but then again I am I have been cleaning my house real good. My dad died last September so my husband and I have been going though all his stuff and that is a workout in itself. I will take your challenge and workout for 15 minutes starting monday. I can't do big workout because I was involved in a car accident back in April of 2007 and hurt my neck and back pretty bad. But I am able to walk for short periods of time without my back hurting. I also have a Tony Little Gazelle that I want to start using as soon as I have room to set it up. I feel for every single person on this site. I have been reading posts since last Friday and I know each and everyone of us can do this and get healthy one day at a time.

Keep Smiling just remember it is exercise for your face.
  • Carla, I feel you sweetie about the exercising.  How about this ... I CHALLENGE you to 15 minutes of exercise between now and noon tomorrow (whever your time may be).  I'll take the same challenge.  I don't want to ... I just can't seem to do it ... So I'm thinking if we start small it will get eaiser.  The challenge is for 15 minutes ... but you can stay on as long as you want ... but just look at the challenge ... sure you can do 15 minutes.  No big deal... that's not a long time.

Ha ... this is the conversation i've had with myself the past two mornings.  I'm setting my alarm for 30 minutes earlier and thinking I'll do my little maching exercises while I'm watching the morning news.  But so far I have yet to drag my butt out of bed and do it!  Come on everyone ... LET'S DO 15 MINUTES!!!

Next week we'll push it.  :)

  • Hi Sarah.  I am on my third day too.  The hardest time for me I think is at night when I am at home.  At night after dinner I would watch tv and I always had to have some kind of snack.  Whether it be ice cream, cookies or a bowl of cereal.  I find myself wanting to pick at foods out of boredom.  When I visited my mom on Monday I almost slipped.  She had potato chips in her kitchen and I almost grabbed them and started muching, jus because they looked good.  I wasn't hungry.  But I caught myself.  I remind myself that I am making myself healthier so I can have a more active roll in my daughters life.  I also want to get healthy because we would like to have another baby, but I had a rough pregnancy with my daughter with the blood pressure and I think it had a lot to do with my weight and I don't want to go through that again.  I was tempted when I went to lunch with my boss yesterday.  She order a steak sandwich and fries and I ordered a turkey on wheat with tomato, lettuce and spicy mustard.  The waitress seemed surprised that was all I wanted and asked me if I wanted fries to go with it, so I ordered a small bowl of mushroom soup.  I didn't even eat half of it.  I felt though that it was because of my size that she thought I wasn't ordering enough.  But I just ignored my feeling and enjoyed myself.  Keep up the good work and talk to you soon.  Chrissy

  • Thanks to both of you for responding. I will add both of you as buddies. How are you two doing? I have only been through two days but am doing pretty good so far. I have a post called Sarah's Journey and I am going to keep posting in it daily to update how I am doing.

What do you find are your hardest times of temptation and what do you go to overcome these?

  • Hi Bob.  Things are going ok.  I just started on my journey full force yesterday.  So it is hard to judge at this point how i'm doing.  Thank you for wanting to be my buddy and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

  • I would love to be your accountability buddy.  I could use the same support.  I am 30 and I have more than 200 pounds to lose.  I know how you feel with not knowing where to start.  I do remember someone had told me though that you shouldn't look at the big picture, but rather make goals of say 10 lbs.  and reward yourself with something.  Whether it be to a movie, or a haircut, but something to pamper yourself.  That is what I am going to try.  I am diving into this full force Monday morning.  I have been on vacation for 2 weeks and I am back into the swing of things with work monday and I am calling it my new year, the new me return to work day.  Let me know if you want me to be your buddy.  Chrissy

  • Hello Sarah. My name is Carla and I am 26. I too have over 100 pnds to lose in order to be at a healthy weight. I too need someone to encourage me, but mainly hold me accountable for what I eat and how I exercise. I am married, but to someone who has NO idea what it is like to be overweight. He is 100% supportive, but also clueless. I told myself that today I was going to start an exercise plan that I figured out, but I didn't. So, I'm typing on here hoping to find some encouragement to start tomorrow. I want so much to know what it's like to go to a store and fit in whatever I want. I need someone to talk to though. It would help me so much if we could share how our days go with each other. I plan on starting to sign on first thing in the mornings and get all pumped up, so maybe I'll get off my rear end and workout. I'll sign back on in the evening to see how the day's gone. I hope you have a wonderful day tom. Stay strong! Just think how good it feels to go to sleep at night knowing you've eaten healthy and got a good workout! Maybe it's just me, but it always feels so good, and is something I try to remember during the day. We'll see if it works tom. I hope to hear from you soon.
