  • Hi, I am glad you are still with us!!! Sounds like you have a difficult schedule for exercise, but don't forget the weekends. If you exercise then you will get used to the idea. I have a shake for breakfast and then I switch back and forth from my second shake of the day to a half sandwich  for lunch. My sandwich of choice is egg salad which may not be on most diets. I would prefer peanutbutter but I can't handle that without diving in the jar after lunch!  I can handle the egg and still enjoy it.  I try to do one thing for a week and then the other for a week, but it doesn't usually workout that way. Have a great day! Suzanne

  • i do 2 shackes a day breakfast and kunch reg meal for dinner

  • Aww.. my ticker didn't work :(

  • I haven't been doing too well with the whole exercise thing. It's hard to find the time after I work 11 am to 730 pm. I go home and eat and just want to veg.  I've tried waking up before work to go exercise, but it never happens. It seems like the gym is an unattainable place to me.

I have been packing my lunches for work this week.  I have a shake in the morning for breakfast and then 2 small meals the rest of the day.  How often do you guys do the shakes?

And do you find that most scales don't go high enough for you? That's really depressing.

  • I also eat my main meal at lunch.  Since at work there are no other options except eating whatever you brought, it keeps me from making bad meal decisions out of hunger.  I often take frozen meals ( Indian, Italian, Thai) and there are enough options to keep it interesting.  Sodium can be an issue but as long as I am on track with my other eating it isn't a problem.  Plus frozen meals have the benefit of already being portion sized.  I also do wraps and sandwiches, or any kind of leftover or salad.  It hasn't really been a problem so far, there is always something  I can take.  And I always have a piece of fruit with my lunch (sometimes 2).  Try some new things to expand your meal horizons.  maybe one new recipe a week or a new food from the store.  Healthy eating can be fun!!

  • I like to have my shakes for breakfast and dinner, so I pack my main meal everyday and eat it for lunch at work.  I have come up with many options over the past seven months!  Most importantly, I prepare/pack my lunch every night.... no rushing around in the morning and throwing just anything in the lunch tote.  A staple food in my house is low-carb flour tortilla wraps.  You can fill them with just about anything.... baked chicken, deli turkey, ground turkey taco meat.... and add lot of veggies and low-fat cheese if you want! (I have even put some pizza sauce and mozz cheese on a wrap, folded it in half and grilled it on the George Foreman! Makes a very low cal pizza!)  Tonight I baked a piece of fish for tomorrows lunch.  I'll also take half of a baked potato and cook it in the microwave at work.  Tuna fish mixed with a little light mayo on crisp bread is also yummy!

Whatever you like to eat, find a healthy version and make it ahead of time. Viola.... lunch!

  • I really struggle with eating the right things. It seems like all the meals I choose still have lots of calories.  I also struggle with preparing food to take to work and usually go out for fast food or order in. I need meals that are quick and convenient for my job.  Also ones that are fulling.  Any suggestions?

  • Hi and welcome!!  You can see from my ticker that I've been there!  But I have put that 300 number behind me ( along with a lot of other numbers) and look forward to kicking many more to the curb as I go.  A lot of good advice here...visit and post often, it will keep you focused which isn't as easy in the 10th week as it is in the 1st week.  But after a while things become habit and you'll see amazing changes.  I'm looking forward to getting to know you better as we become fellow losers!

  • Welcome kj!  Congrats on joining us on our weight loss journey!

I started this with really bad knees, so I was limited on physical activity also.  I started out just playing Wii... the tennis and boxing are great!  As I lost some pounds, other activities became easier.  Now I am able to use my elliptical machine with ease.  I am top-heavy too, so I stay away from jumping jacks, running, and rope jumping.  Just listen to your body, do whatever it will allow you.  Maybe just marching in place to fun music.... or you may want to try swimming if you still have a bad ankle.  We are here to support you.... you can do this!

  • Hi and Welcome, Let me tell you it is so good that you are doing this while you are young. You have so much to look forward to and so much good healthy life to enjoy. Post often and share your ups and downs. You will find words that will lift you up and your words will help others. We all understand what you are going through.  You will be surprised how much better you will feel after a short while. Start with easy light exercise. the ladies here can recomment DVDs that they have used. Walking is good for a start, too, if you can do that. I find walking on pavement very hard on my legs and feet, so I tend to walk in the grass.  And I do a simple trick on myself. When I want something like maybe candy for Valentines Day I tell myself I can have it next year. I really know better, but I can skip things now  with the idea of next year. Like smallone day says take it one day or even one meal at  a time. Keep your goals flexible and easy to do to start with. Every success is very encouraging. Our journey starts with a few small steps. We are happy to have you come and share this journey with us. Have a lovely day, Suzanne
