  • Well I am a mom of a 7 year old, a  4 year old and my newborn is 6.5 weeks and yes I am breastfeeding. It had not affected my milk supply being on the program because I keep my caloric intake up. But with healthier foods. Whole grain, healthy carbs etc... when you sighn up online it asks you if you are breastfeeding along with your height, weight etc.. It will tell you how many calories you need. You should be fine. Good luck!!!

  • Ok my gosh I LOVE Slim in 6!!!  I lost 20 pounds on it before I got pregnant!  COOL!  My LO is 5 weeks yesterday.  I am following the nursing eating plan and have LOADS of energy.  I do pump up the calories a bit more than the 2100.  I felt that was too low, but keep it between 2100-2500.  I am also walking 3-5x a week at a moderate pace.  My LO does not seem bothered or more fussy by the shakes or my change in diet.. in fact I think she is more calm now!

I started the Kenkou (Health) Friday group and I encourage all of you to get involved with it!  Weekly weigh in and challenges!

    Good luck to everyone!

  • Hi ladies!  I started Slim Fast this week.  My daughter is 7 weeks old & she's happy & healthy.  She doesn't eat on a consistent schedule.  Sometimes it's even hourly.  I've been following My Meal Plan & I feel great so far.  I've been adding a little bit here & there.  I'm also doing the Slim in 6 workout DVD's.  They've been kicking my booty, but I need it.  I've got around 50lbs. to lose, so I need all the help I can get.  My husband is doing both plans with me.  He's got closer 2 65lbs to lose, so hopefully it'll work for him too.  All the research suggests that it's easier for men to lose weight than women, so he'll B good.  I'm trying to get into shape for my 10 year high school reunion in August.  I'd really like to look good, especially w/ a new baby.  I hope everyone is staying strong.

  • I've been on SF for just over a month, and I'm breastfeeding my 7 month old.  My production hasn't decreased due to the diet.  In fact, I'm using the meal plan (it's so easy because everything is right there for you and the food is really good- my boyfriend even eats it!) and you don't just have shake for breakfast, one for lunch and then food for dinner.  The meal plan include three meals and three snacks.  I'm never hungry, but the meals themselves don't have a lot of calories in them.  So when you add them up during the day, it looks like you're eating a lot, but really you're only eating about 1,800 a day and that can sometimes be too low.  As nursing mommies we have to take into consideration what we're eating too.  They tack on 300 calories, but that is because your body actually needs those calories to help you produce the milk.  Talking to my lactation nurse has really helped me and she told me that she doesn't see an issue with the meal plan as long as I'm eating the right foods.  FYI- my baby was very gassy and I talked to the pediatric nurse about it, turns out the soda I was drinking was making her pass gas...all the time.  Since I've cut down how much soda I drink during the day I've lost weight and my baby isn't as gassy!  LOL

  • I drink the shakes and I am nursing for the third time (I have 3 boys, the youngest is 3 weeks). My milk is fine and I see no problems. I do drink the juices that have fruits and veggies in them as well as doing the slim fast program and I feel healthier than I have ever been. I have already gone down from 230 to 219 in a short time.

  • It is ok to drink shakes but I recamend as a lactation adviser that you also eat some fruit and veggies with the shake. Dont use them as a total meal replacement. Make sure you drink lots of water and get all your rest you can at night. You dont want to do a lot all at one time. start in small steps . a dermatic change in diet can lower your supply. Also keep the baby at the  *** as offten as they want. after all it takes about 800 calories to keep up with a babies need. cutting out some foods could show weight loss on its own such as soda, sugars and bad snacks :ie potatoe chips...

    good luck

  • Hi! I just joined this site yesterday because, like you, I think that you can lose weight while nursing. My son will be 9 months next month and I have just started taking the weight lost seriously in the past 8 weeks or so. In that time, I tried to cut back on calories and just eat more nutritionally dense foods, but I did notice that my milk output went way down. It only took about 2-3 days  before my milk to started dropping off. I had to use back-up frozen milk for two days before things were back to normal. I am now focusing more on exercise and getting plently of good calories in. I am going to see how this works... I'm not giving up. I want to lose at least 20 pounds by his birthday in August.

  • I would also like to get in touch with nursing moms out there.  I'm 23, my baby is 4 months old, and I have about 45lbs to lose!  I read on this website that you shouldn't lose weight while breastfeeding but I don't understand why not... I have a lot of "extra".   If anyone wants to buddy up with me and give me some advice on this issue that would be GREAT

  • Hi, I am nursing but my baby is already 3and 1/2 months and according to my doctor it usually takes about three months for the milk supply to adjust.  Also I do not solely rely on the meal plan that slimfast gives me because I need way more than that in order to keep my milk supply "normal". what I do is I add more fruits and vegtables on top of what  they give me along with some nuts to get my healthy oils.

one way of looking at it would be to count three shakes as the 3 servings of dairy that nursing moms are supposed to have but dont forget to count any piece of sheese that u eat.  I lost 2 pounds the first week doing this and I have gone down 1 inch on my waist, and about half an inch everywhere else. I'll let you know on monday I I lost any more weight.

    hope this works good luck!!!!

  • I have a 7 week old baby boy and I wanted to know if anyone else was nursing and drinking shakes AND if you are how your milk production is
