  • THE MEAL PLANS ARE GREAT YOU CAN MIX AND MATCH THE FOODS. JUST DON'T BE AFRADE TO EISE HOT PEPPERS IF YOU HAVE NO STOMACH PROBLEMS. THEY HELP SPICE UP FOOD THAT YOU THINK IS BLAND. WAL-MART HAS THE HUNDRED COLORY POPCORN, AND SNACKS. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THEM IS YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO EAT MORE THAN ONE PACK. THEY HAVE SOME GOOD CHOCOLATE COOKIES AND STUFF. THEY WILL SETTLE THE TASTE FOR YOU. LITTLE DEBBIES HAVE THEM TO. IF YOU HAVE A SWEET TOOTH THIS WILL HELP TO SETTLE IT. JUST BE CAREFULL NOT TO FIND YOURSELF OVEREATING THEM. PUT THEM IN THE FREEZER, OR A CABINET YOU HARDLY USE.

    THANKS,

    WOE

  • Honestly, the slim fast diet isn't what ultimately worked for me. I stay active on this site for the support and community but the shakes and stuff have never been satisfying for me, I guess we're all different. But what I can say pretty definitely is that you need to eat MORE. if you only eat one meal during the day your body gets thrown into starvation mode where it decides that in order to survive it needs to hold on to every ounce of everything you eat, it will also try to hold on to as much existing fat as possible. eventually your body would push through this and start losing weight but the problem would be that once you got to your goal weight you would have to continue starving yourself for the REST OF YOUR LIFE. your metabolism would be ruined, possibly for good. trust me, I had a problem in highschool and have been paying for it ever since. I was skinny as long as I ate 300 calories a day, as soon as I breached 800 calories the weight just rushed in like it was in a hurry, rebuilding my metabolism took 10 years and 80 pounds. don't be like me.. try to have 1200 calories every day, it sounds like you'll be eating more than you are now.

my plan usually starts with a large-ish breakfast of about 500 calories. I work nights so I tend to eat my meals backwards. I'll have a dish of home-made chicken and veggie stir fry with white rice or something like that. lunch is usually soup at my desk at work, about 250 calories, and for "dinner" I'll usually have a bowl of cereal, 200 calories. in between these meals I munch on 100 calorie snack packs and fruit, on days that I work out I can eat up to 1500 calories and on days that I don't I keep it down to 1200. working out makes all the difference, just today I killed over 800 calories in an hour burning hard on the elliptical machine at the gym. I'm a busy person but think that it takes one tv show worth of time and suddenly its not so hard to fit in. exercise is crucial, failure to exercise is accepting defeat.

I hope this helps. and also, its good to ban restaurants while you're getting used to reduced calorie intake, but in a few weeks you can start incorporating things like starbucks into your diet routine. look online for nutritional information and adjust what you eat the rest of the day accordingly. some days I'll eat 200 calories less during most of the day just so that I can have a beer or glass of wine later. planning all your meals in advance also makes a huge difference, spur of the minute food choices are rarely good.

Good luck, and please, start eating more, you'll be glad that you did.

  • Pinky: Go to the "my meal plan" section under "Our Plan" and take a look - you actually get to have 3 snacks with the SF 3*2*1 plan.  Today, on my plan I got to have string cheese and a handful of crackers. later today I get raspberries and tonight, after dinner, I get cereal with blueberries. The snacks are really good so far (I'm on my first week) and should help you stay motivated and satisfied because they will offer variety and get you through the day. Not to mention I think they will contribute to good overall health.

  • You might have already said the answer, but I am knew and just wondering about what you are doing?  Are you only having one or tow meals a day.  I need to lose pretty much weight so I am doing only one meal a day and I have that meal according what my family's plans are.  If everybody is going to be home to eat that night, meaning, no sports or after school functions that go through dinner time, then I will save that meal for dinner.  If we are all not going to eat at the same time, then I do my meal at lunch.  So far, every day(its been only 4 days) I have a shake in the morning and afternood with no snacks and a sensible dinner-and I mean-less than 500 calories most of the time.  I havent had no special parties, or events or went out to eat to sabatoge it.  Hubby wanted to go to Starbucks last night, but i said no, just to soon into my new journey.  I just want to know your routine.  Thanks and God Bless you and congrats on the first 10 pounds.

  • I've learned not to underestimate the scale. I've gotten on the scale before going to bed and weighed one thing, and when I woke up in the morning I had allegedly gained 2 pounds. according to the dietition that happens when your water weight redistributes overnight causing inaccurate readings based on how your weight is distributed on the scale, so don't panic.

thanks for the congratulations. I can't wait until I make it the rest of the way. you will too, I'm sure. You just have to stay strong.

  • Happy Veterans Day and CONGRATULATIONS!   I know we're only supposed to weigh in once a week but I just weighed myself and I've gained a pound - granted, I woke up in the middle of the night and had cheese and crackers - I was sooo hungry.  Oh well, start over - again - today. Eventually my body and brain will get in sync and I will be able to handle the change in calorie intake.  It's encouraging that you made your first 10lb goal - WOW. Go ahead and do a little jig and sing a little song.

  • I MADE IT! It's been such a hard start but I finally got there, my first 10 pounds are history. I just hope the next 40 go a bit easier now that I've got the ball rolling. I feel sexy, I feel healthy, I feel AWESOME! I wanna dance and sing and all that cheesy stuff. Whew. I did it.
