  • Hello!

I wanted to introduce myself too!

My name's Angela, I'm 22 years old, and am also new to these boards.

I've always had trouble with my weight and body image, and now I'm ready to lose weight the healthy way (i've had a history full of eating disorders and such).

I want to lose 20 pounds, although according to my boyfriend, I'm perfect the way I am.  But I want to do it for me for once and for my health.  I've just started about a month ago exercising a lot more (ive been going to pilates and body conditioning classes 5x per week), but now I just need to start eating better...And it's frustrating because I eat very healthy foods, I just recently have been unable to lose weight, so now I think i'll give slimfast a shot.

I really think the thing that has stopped me from losing weight is the lack of support from people going through what I am and trying to lose weight.

Alright, well I'll get going, sorry if I've rambled lol

I'm looking forward to these boards and starting my new diet tomorrow!

Thanks for the reply.....first .....that job, what they did WAS illegal, but after speaking with a lawyer, and the fact that it was said with no witnesses, I have no case. I am however living in a very small community and am well liked.and if someone asks why I no longer work there, I definitly share my story.........I am a huge believer in carma. Now..........with this journy just starting, there are many things I would like to do, like excercise......I am going to start with walking, because with these old joints of mine, running is not an option.........................lol.......and the piggyback thing, hahahaha...I had to laugh because my kids are in their 20's,,,hahahahaha, THAT would be a sight indeed! Thanks for your time in replying to me, I hope to continue our communication throughout our journys.

  • HOWDY!!

SEVERAL issues.. they can not legally lay you off/fire you/etc for being overweight. Unless it endangers someone else which I highly doubt!!  Talk to the labor board!!

I use to think I needed to quit thinking about food so much, but in reality you NEED to think about food because you have to decide what is & isn't worth putting in your mouth. It's going to take some adjusting but if you'll drink a shake for breakfast, have some cheese or a piece of fruit for your AM snack, a shake & small sandwich for lunch, some almonds/fruit/hard boiled egg/etc for an afternoon snack & use a small plate for your dinner plate with a semi-sensible meal then top the day off with a 100 calorie snack (I prefer something with chocolate), you'll see you're not as hungry as you thought you'd be and you MUST drink water till your eyeballs are floating!! It helps flush out the toxins and anything else that shouldn't be hanging around and helps you feel fuller, most people think they are hungry when they are actually dehydrated.

Start walking around the block twice a day, if you live near a high school go up & down the football bleachers 3 times at a comfortable pace-NOT slow comfortable- until you can run up & down them 3 times, then work your way up to 10. Walk the track 4 x's = 1 mile, start off slow then work your way down to a 15 minute mile, then 10 etc..

If you have children piggyback them around - this is a LOT easier before they get to high school age!! LOL ANYTHING that gets your heart rate up is good even if you don't sustain it for more than three minutes at first. Baby steps!! We didn't get this big overnight & unfortunately we aren't going to get tiny again overnight, BUT you have started in the correct direction & THAT is what matters.

You don't have to be "perfect" all the time with your food consumption, no one is, so if you have an OOPS!! It's over & move on. I LOVE french fries & have come up with 9 trillion excuses to eat them  - none are good excuses but....you can have that fried okra/squash/chicken/etc.. once in a while, NOT once a day & you'll succeed. Thin people eat, they just exercise to counteract the extra calories, I think that's where "we" have lost our grips, becoming complacent, expecting our bodies to act like they did when we were teenagers - I WISH!!

Take it one day at a time or one meal at a time until you have reprogrammed yourself, so you make the better choice automatically. You WILL do this & then you can stop back by your old job & tell them to KYA!! LOL

    Have a GREAT evening!

  • Wanted to introduce myself, my name is Lisa and I am overweight........whew.......that was really hard to type. I have been overweight for a few years now and it has REALLY effected my life, my marriage, and my self esteme. Not to mention my work..........yea...work, I  was informed at my 'old job' about 2 weeks ago, that when they re-open for the season next year that they would not be calling me back. Made no sence to me especially when they said they were 100% happy with my work........but dummy me had to ask, "then, if your happy, why are you not going to call me back?"..........the answer....."your weight is an issue". Hearing this made me physically ill. I could not sleep, I couldn't keep anything down, I was, and still a little, a mess. One good thing about it is - is that  it made me decide that  enough is enough! I know  I will never be back to what I once was- a size 29 in mens jeans- but ANYTHING is better than my now 297 lbs :o(. Now here I am, the shakes are great, but my big downfall with food is that I am a southern girl raised on deep fried foods. Not much of a sweet eater, but love fried salty foods..............this is goin to be tough.  Thanks for listening, Lisa
