  • Hello eross39. I was living a sedentary lifestyle completely and eating so much crap until my biggest pants were fitting tightly. It was the pants that kicked me in the pants! When I get uncomfortable in my own clothes, that is all the motivation I need. I know that dropping 500 calories a day will make you lose 1 pound a week (3500 calories a week). But I don't want to go that slow so I began a log. I began writing down the calories and fat content of every single thing I put in my mouth. Even the teaspoon of coffeemate has 10 calories, so that goes on the log. I set a daily goal of between 900 and 1000 calories a day and I am sticking to it like glue. I lost 3 pounds in the first week and 2 pounds in the second week. I have lost my cravings and my daily calorie intake for the past several days has been in the low 800's. And I keep my fat intake daily at around 22 grams. I know that this low of calorie intake is not recommended by dieticians, they recommend 1200 calories a day as the lowest intake. But I want this weight off soon! If I get weak or anything, I can always up my intake to 1100 or so. Anyway, seeing those 5 pounds drop off in 2 weeks has lit a fire under me. I am so motivated and keeping the log is VITAL! I just bought a mini-trampoline that came with a wonderful workout video. Gold's Gym brand. I also got a ton of workout videos from the library. I am not weight training, just cardio and circuit training. I don't want to put on muscle weight, that will come after I reach my goal.

Try keeping a log of every single thing you eat and sticking to it. I also cut out all chocolate......devastated me, but I want this weight off more than the chocolate. It helps that my husband has been a vegetarian for 20 years and myself for 10. We are stocked with veggie burgers (Boca Burgers and the like) and trust me, they taste just like hamburgers. I write down the calories in the ketchup and pickles and I have given up the cheese. Mustard has more calories so I gave it up too.

I also got a great book called The GI Diet Express by Rick Gallop. It is very motivating. See if your library has it. I also got a 2010 version of Calorie King's book. It tells you how many calories, fat grams, and carbs are in every thing you can eat. All of the fast food recipes are in it too. Very helpful. I know now how many calories and fat grams are in a jumbo egg, large egg, etc. So it helps.

Good luck and feel free to write to me anytime to let me know how you are doing. I believe in you!! :o)

  • HELP ME PLEASE.  I need encouragement as well as support.  I am not new to slim-fast.  I have taken it in the past with great results but now I am struggling.  I have a history of lupus and that was not a road that was easily taken.  I am now six years lupus free but now I can't get the weight off.  I went down to 110 lbs and was a size 2, I loved that but now I am 171lbs and a size 12, not good.  I am none the less very unhappy about that.  So I am now here asking for a buddy who can kick me in my fat ass and help me back into at least a size 6.  So come on people kick me, I need it and want it.

  •  That sucks about the doctor. Are you doing any exercises? If you are walking or anything take a picture of the cpap machine and tell your self no more.  Keep the picture with you when you have cravings and excuses not to exercise.  You can do this.  My brother in law had sleep apnea and so did my grandma they both lost weight and now don't have to wear the mask.  I believe in you.  Forget that stuck up doctor.  Go see another one and show that mask whos boss.  I'm rooting for you!

  • i started slim fast about 2 or 3 years ago. I start and stop so many times thinking that I was ready when I wasn't. now that I'm getting older I know I have to do something about my weight. not only I'm I over weight I have asthma and sleep apena. I haven't been to see my doctor for my sleep apena foe over a year and so I decided to make an appointment to go when I was told that I owe over $200 dollars and I have to pay that before I can see the doctor. I have to pay the collect agency the $200 dollars. I called the agency to see if I could make payments I was told that I have to pay the whole thing which I don't have. i called again and was told the same thing how I'm  I suposse to see the doctor when the collection agency want work with me. I'm tired of sleeping with the CPAP machine. maybe I'll give them a call again it have been a while since I called or maybe I'll call the sleep center and see if there's anything that I can do.

P.S. sorry for going on for so long I just don't have many people to talk to about this not anyone that would understand.  Thank you
