Anyone not really doing the SF plan?

  • Oh that sucks. Hamburger patties and chicken patties aren't that bad without the bun.  I've never made grilled cheese with butter.  Grilled cheese can also be healthy if you make it yourself, but I know your trying to eat there.  Do some research online.  Maybe you can eat there every other night and make your own simple meals the other nights.  How about the deli, what is on there?

  • the grill doesnt contain items like grilled chicken or anything like that its more of burgers (they're not all that tasty ive always skipped them) french fries, chicken patties, and grilled cheese but its like dripping in butter

    thanks so much

  • Sounds like you have a lot of healthy choices.  Why do skip the grill stations?  Seems like they would have healthier choices there.  Be careful with the salads.  Salads aren't always your best choice for calorie control and they don't keep you full.  I don't eat much vegetables so I have to find alternatives in healthy eating.  You should also try new foods that you don't think you like.  Your taste buds change and you can learn to like them.  Start off by eating smaller portions of the foods you do like and eventually a larger portion of a healthier meal is more appealing than the small portion of an unhealthy meal.  For dinner I usually eat a small portion of an unhealthy meal.  It is hard when my husband does most of the cooking and he is not dieting.  You just have to make sacrifices.  Plain vanilla ice cream is not so horrible if you don't have it often.  Don't give up, you are doing great!

  • for breakfast the types of food that are accesible are usually scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, cereals, english muffins, bagels, bread, fruit, yogurt, and granoloa (they also have a starch like pancakes or waffles but i skip that as well as the breakfast potatoes which range from tator tots to home fries, and I also pass by the pastries....even they look so good)

For lunch and dinner i have access to cereals, pasta, deli foods, a salad bar, and an "entree" bar which would consist of a protein, starch and vegetable though they never look decent....i always skip the pizza, and grill stations and the dessert and ice cream

In my room I have peanut butter, light popcorn, and rye krisps

My main problem is my lunches and dinners since I don't wanna have too many carbs like a sandwich at lunch and then pasta at dinner and after 8 I get really hungry

  •   The types of food that you can access would be a good thing to list.  Fruits, veggies, yogurts are all good.  Whole wheat breads are best.  Low fat spreads are good, just use a little less.  Stay away from fried foods.  Stick with roasted or baked.  Salads are great.  Watch the dressings.  Even a can of the powdered SF is a good idea.  Less pricey then the canned.  Just grab a pint of skim milk and good to go.  Do they have the calorie listings for the foods at school?  Ask them if they don't have it listed.  Go for the smaller portioned items.  Keeping a journal is a wonderful tool.  Soon it becomes second nature.  I have got to the point where I can look at things and figure in my head  how much I can have and not go over my limit.

  • I'm trying to stick to the plan this time so I don't have to spend money on eating out, but I did lose 40 lbs just changing the way I eat before.  I don't really eat any vegetables, so it was really hard for me.  I would eat a lot of baked chicken.  I would try to stay away from too many carbs in one day.  Like if you eat toast for breakfast, don't eat a sandwich for lunch.  I ate almost every two hours (just small snacks like grapes or yogurt.  The think that helped me the most was that I wrote everything that I would eat the night before in a journal and counted the calories.  The next day I just grabbed what I was going to eat and go to work without thinking about it.  Low fat hotdogs are really good.  They sell low fat hotdogs and wheat bread.  I would have 2 with low fat cheese and a little ketchup.  They are really good and filling.  What kind of foods do you have access to?

  • So as a college student I have access to the eateries out campus that I pay for in my room/board so I dont want the meals go to waste and I dont have *that* much money , so I cant afford paying for about 14 SF bars a week. So does anyone eat healthy and that but not stay on the SF plan if so what type of meals do you do?
