  • Fortunately over the last two years I had printed off many of the recipes. I also have many of my old menu plans printed, That will help, but I still need something to save me the trouble of calculating my daily totals. I would be willing to bet it's a financial issue at SF. I personally would be willing to pay a membership to get back what we had before 3.2.1 (and have the Optima line again). It's no different than Nutisystem or the others that you pay to belong to. I was always amazed at all we had for free, but to have it and then lose it all like they've done now is just cruel. The need to talk to their members and listen to more members input. Last year the implemented an ambassador program,  There was a deadline to apply. That's long ago and I've never seen anything on site about it again. They made a big to do about it. I had recieved a letter from them asking to apply then I had seen it I believe in the Ask The Dietician forum.

I posted a new thread yesterday to Ask The Dietician regarding taking a Poll. Check that out if you haven't seen it yet and pass that on to others you know here. I'm trying to get comments together in one place. Ali the RD will see it there and hopefully show the higher ups what they've done to us. Then again, the whole thread may be deleted by SF come Monday. If it ends up deleted I will be on Satying Motivated...Best wishes to you in your quest for a healthier you!  PAnn

  • I totally agree with you  PAnn!! I started slimfast very recently but started with the old website which was soooo user friendly and I was really impressed. This new site is not only super slow, it is so much more restrictive and just stupid little things like not having the recipe ingredients and directions on the same page is so irritating!!! kcarollo

  • As a past loyal Slim Fast member, I am very curious to hear what other members have to say about the new 3.2.1 plan. I started SF in Jan of '08. I loved the ease of the past plan and was an Optima user. I met my first goal by July and by fall of 08 had met my final goal of an 80# loss. I have maintained very well using the plan and exercise (mostly, I am a walker). I found that the new plan does not let us use a menu planner as we had known before and that the calories for the day seem low. They have always told us do not go below 1200 calories, and the lowest recommened calorie menus were at 1300. I talked with the dietician and she said the old way is gone and that we won't be able to see a menu plan where we can make the substitutions as we did before. We were always able to make vast changes to our menus, entering our own choices, still following the SF guidelines. I am so frustrated with this new and improved (???) plan that I could cry. I know that though the old SF program I gained alot of knowledge on how to live a new healthful lifestyle, but still relied on the menu planners to keep my on track. If I splurged I was always able to include these splurge foods in the menu to see just how badly I had really done....The dietician told me they made the plan easier to use. I haven't found this to be so for me....Am I alone in this feeling?? I don't think so. If you go into the discussions on the Ask The Dietician group I see others are upset by the change also. Whoever is, needs to contact SF and make your feelings known. I thought I'd be a loyal Slim Faster for life. I feel so let down. Some changes are good, but in this case I feel that the program itself is hard to use along with the unfilling food products of SF. I mentioned to the dietician that I thought the new meal bars all taste salty to me. This is probably because the Optima plan and menu options I chose prior to the 3.2.1 were more towards low sodium, so I eat very limited salt. They are not filling nor all that tasty. I need more than 1200 calories a day. All of you need more calories a day. On maintenance you need to increase your calories in order to not continue losing weight. The more exercise you get in the more calories/nutrients you need...I'm also curious as to where all the rest of the dieticians have gone. Maybe SF has lost so many members that they couldn't afford to keep the rest. They have all been wonderul over the years and I attribute alot of my success to them, but RD Ali has not said much as far as the change other than what I've told you. Sorry to go on and on, but I feel that after I have been thru two major changes with SF in two years, neither being all that good (lost weight charts, changed menu plans and now product changes) it makes me wonder how much longer SF will even be around. The support isn't what it used to be. I used to rave about the program and products, telling everyone how easy it was to use and that we could mix and match for our own personal needs & preferences....Thanks everyone for listening...PAnn

  • Hi Amy,

I'm not doing SF.  I found that it really doesn't fill me up.  I am feeling so very empty these days, and it has nothing to do with food.  I am going to go about this the hard way.  What I mean is that I am not looking for a quick fix, rather I am going to get to the heart of the matter.  Currently I am reading the book "Shrink Yourself" by Roger Gould, MD.  It is all about getting to the root of emotional eating.  I know that is why I am gaining weight.  I feel empty and unfulfilled as a stay at home mom.  So I will be looking for ways to nurture myself that don't involve food.  I can recommend others that also deal with this--"Normal Eating" is one, and anything by Geneen Roth is helpful.  I've also done some Christian ones as well.   I've been eating this way for about 11 years now.  I just can't seem to get a grip since my son was born 19 months ago.  So I am looking within to try and figure it out.  Eventually the weight will come off.  I also need to get more exercise.  I am doing Curves but often I don't get there the recommended 3x a week.  And I'm not doing anything on the days I don't go.  I have no excuse, as I have a ton of exercise videos.  I just don't like getting up early.  Forget it if the kids are home.  And by evening, I'm pooped.  But mornings do seem to work best for me.

I'm only here because I get freaked out about my weight and start thinking about going on a diet.  Then I realize this won't work for me long term.  Until I can stop emotionally eating, I will never be able to stick to a diet.  And once I start eating out of hunger alone, the weight should start to come off almost effortlessly.  It has in the past.  Perhaps it is because I am in my 30's now.  I don't think I'll see much change without exercise.

  • Carol,

I guess we are all in the same boat right now....overwhelmed!  I am a working mom of two..17 yrs. and 1 year.  I tried watching what i eat and cutting out starches and sweets and still gained 4 pounds!  I am so MAD!  I decided to give SF a try.  I'll look at the new website.  I need someone to help me and encourage me so I don't give up!  I think I am going to try to do the SF shakes at breakfast and dinner and eat a sensible lunch.  I think the shakes are really good for a busy lifestyle because you can grab them on the go!  How long have you been on the SF plan?

  • Anyone seen this new plan, or is anyone doing it?  It stands for 3 snacks, 2 slim fast meals, and 1 sensible meal a day.  As far as I can tell, it is about 1200 calories a day.  It is supposed to deliver quick weight loss.  They aren't launching their new website until December.  There is limited info there now.   slimfast321.com

I am overwhelmed with the thought of losing weight right now.  I really need to, as I see my weight creep up.  I am afraid to commit to a plan, because I am afraid of failture.  I am having a hard time sticking with my exercise program right now.

I am also overwhelmed by all of the choices on this site.  I am a busy stay at home mom of 2 kids, ages 4 and 1.  I need to keep it simple!

    Thanks, Carol
