Overcoming a Plateau?

  • Thanks everyone for the great advice!  I'm giving it a shot and keeping optimistic. :)

  • Its a bit early for a plateu, but heres what could be the problem.  I don't know if this will help you, but I hope it does.  When you get up, first thing in the morning, drink 16-20oz water.  Drink or eat your slimfast.  Every couple hours, try to drink 16-20 oz water.  You will notice how much energy you have.  I'm a student too, and life is unpredictable.  Try to exercise.  Heck, walking around campus is great!  Without making anyother changes (because I don't want you overwhelmed) just try increasing your water.  And good luck to you!  I'm at a plateau after losing 40, and its so freaking depressing, lol.

  • It is hard to overcome plateaus but you can do it. shake it up a little. when I hit a plateau i just change my routine around. change something in your diet. or justrotate your exercises. add adifferent exercise to your routine just until you brake that plateau. i have different exercise tapes to do everydae. they help keep my plateaus unstable.

    best of wishes,

  • How much are you wanting to lose?

If it is not a lot it will take a little longer.  Heavier people lose more rapidly in the first month,  I lost almost 15 pounds.  Then it went to a more normal 1.5 to 2 a week.  Then it stopped....dead in it's tracks....for close to 5 WEEKS!  Was making me a little more crazy then normal.  Did not lose sight of the goal.  Kept at the calorie level, kept working out.  Finally it started moving again.

It takes time.  Longer then we would like it seems.  I started in April of this year.  So far have had three plateaus.  Going into my forth I'm thinking.  Has not budged in two weeks.

Just kept at it.  Write everything down that you are eating and drinking.  Perhaps your calorie intake is to low or to high for you body and needs.  Sometimes you need to tweak it a bit.  Maybe try a different exercise routine.  Startle your body a bit and see what happens.

    All my best,

    Mary

  • I've been doing Slim Fast for 2 weeks now, trying to lose my "Freshman 15," but for some reason even though the first week went great at I lost 2 pounds, suddenly I got to the second week and haven't lost a THING, despite the fact that I haven't made any changes at all?

Has anyone had this "plateauing"  problem, and if so, how did you overcome it?
