  • When I feel unmotivated to work out I picture an action hero and keep that image in my head, that way its not like I'm just some chubby girl bouncing her way around the track, I'm Angelena Jolie or Milla Jovovitch, or any other character that frequently has to run, jump, and fight for her life. and as far as the rain goes, no superhero training sequence is complete without a scene of the hero/heroine running through a downpour. Just remember to keep your ipod in a ziplock baggie so that it doesn't die a horrible water-logged death.

    I too live with a couple smokers, and I agree that it's tough. But now after a little over a month, it doesn't bother me so much. When I get stressed though and smell it, then I get a big craving. But for most people the urge goes away after about 3 minutes. I just make myself think about something else and remind myself out loud that I no longer smoke. I am still retraining my mind. But trust me it gets easier and easier everyday. I think the last time I even thought of having a smoke was like 3 or 4 days ago. If you do try, (practice makes perfect) it will get easier to live and be around smokers. Eventually you stop envying that delicious nicotine that they put into their body, ,and it turns in sadness for their health, and you no longer crave what you see them puffing on.

  • I have heard it all, and I understand completely. I am really trying to quit.
    The hardest part for me is that my wife doesn't want to quit. She is perfectly happy just cutting down to one or two a day.

    That doesn't work for me. If they are in the house, I will think about it until the only way to stop is to just go get one.
    I am doing much better. I smoke less than a pack a week now, which is better than a pack+ a day.

    I'm getting tired of the guilt I feel everyime I have one, and that is motivating me to stop all together. I think that's harder than eating healthy.
    I've been told, that I should try to lose weight and quit at the same time, but I'm an all or nothing sort of guy.

    I just quit smoking a month ago and finally lost the 10 lbs I gained from quiting.

    I wont lecture you, cause I am sure you've heard it all. I know I have!

  • Rain here all day yesterday and today, someone suggested the Walk Away the Pounds dvd and my library had it. Wow was it intense! I did the 3 mile walk since that is what I usually walk on my evening walk outside. I definitly got a better workout with the dvd.

  • go play in the rain.  Unless there's a tornado. ;)  Pretend you're a kid again and jump in puddles.  Also, a workout video is perfect in rainy weather.  You could play a game:  like each time it thunders you have to do a rep of weights. (use canned goods if you don't have weights).  Or, turn on the radio and start dancing.  It's ok to look stupid...it means it's fun!

  • Get out there and run! It won't hurt you to get wet. :)

    If I can get my fat butt moving after sitting on the couch - smoking a pack a day for 15 years I KNOW you can do it.
    Plus, I know you're in better shape than me. lol.
