  • I know the feeling. I'm a member of the JFJ (junk food junkie) lol. My biggest down fall is sweet surgery junk food. (mainly chocolate) but I have vowed to give it up and it is so very hard. I have almost given in to my craving when I gave my kids dessert last night but I was good. Pizza and bacon cheeseburgers are hard for me to give up too. Like right now I am craving a pizza so bad I can almost taste it.  Us JFJ are strong! We CAN Do this! Giving it up is hard but we can do it!

  • I am new to this site, but the title "I want sugar NOW!" captured my attention.  The other day I was driving in the car and the kids were asleep.  My daughter had brought me a small container of brown sugar to go with my oatmeal one morning.  While the kids were asleep I began eating the brown sugar out of the container.  I didn't know what had come over me or why, but the brown sugar was REALLY GOOD!!! I had never done this before, but I truly can't say I will never do it again.  Please offer helpful suggestions if you have any.

  • I understand the sugar cravings. They can get powerful.

Have you tried Truvia yet? It is made from the stevia plant there for it is not an artificial sweetner. I know soon some of the major soda companies will be putting out drinks made with it.  If you can tolerate it , it will at least allow you to enjoy tea and coffee again.

Also I have read some where the L Glutamine can help with sugar cravings. You will want to research that but I read it in the Dr. Atkins book and bought some today. I will let you know if it works.

  • Since we're all different I don't know if this will work for everyone but when I have a major sugar craving, I reach for a chocolate brownie bowl, the microwaveable ones. They're 150 calories and come with fudge topping and they come in a twin pack. I put the hot brownie in a bowl, which only takes 30 seconds to make, and put a 100 calorie vanilla ice cream cup on top and it really satisfies my sugar craving like nothing else I've ever tried! 250 calories and I'm set! And I even feel like I had too much sugar afterwards, lol.

  • The Slim Fast brownie meal bars are so tasty. I'm a brownie-aholic and they take care of my craving. Sometimes I dip mine in coffee and the chocolate melts...yum:))

  • Have you tried Splenda?  Since it is made from real sugar, maybe you wont be allergic to it.  Good luck and continue with the good results you have had so far.  I am just starting, so I can't tell you much.  But, I will have a hard time with sugar myself....brownies and chocolate chip cookies are the absolute worst for me to give up.    I also like the Blo Pop idea for a special sugar treat:)

  • sgoodell,

I had forgotten all about the organic juices.. Yum, they can be really good at times!  And also dreied fruit.. Sometimes I buy candied pecans or walnuts to.. they are normally sold in the area of the salad.. I beleive they are called salad accents? If you just eat a couple of those things, normally its knowcks my sugar issues right out!!!!

  • Juice is definetly an excelent alternative to cokes and kool-aids, but for those on a calorie count system, juice is not such a good thing. Even the 100% organic and natural juice is crammed with sugar(natural sugar albeit), but even natural sugar is hard for your body to process and any extra is stored as fat. If you do opt for juice as apposed to cokes AWESOME!!! I reccomend watering your juice down some too. (juice is often too stong for me anyways) That way you are still getting some of the water that your body needs.

Dried fruits are excelent too!!!! Just watch out for those that have been processed and have additives (sugar, salt, ect) As those could be as bad for you as that cookie you were eyeing a minute ago LOL!!!!!!!!

Keep the good ideas flowing!!!! And stay stong!
