  • That's a great idea, Brian.  I'm a total carb addict (especially sweets), and I often fnd myself fixating on what carb-ridden thing I'm going to have next.  I think today when I start to obsess about junk food, I'll do something active like a quick 5 minute walk to occupy myself.

  • I just do with out I have the same problem I eat one it leads into eating more. Now when I am tempted and at home I go upstairs in my room and do 20 set ups to take it off my mind. It sounds a little extreme but it works for me. Good luck wit your diet. Brian

  • I absolutely LOVE that line!!!!        "there's nothing a row of brownies can't cure"        May I use it!!!!

Even the Weight Watchers  1 point brownies, are only good if you only eat one! I ate the lot! My entire days worth of points in brownies... I can laugh about it now, but then....not so funny!

  • I agree with you on this one. I am a sweet eater as well, and if there in the house then its all over. I have the 100 calorie snacks as well, and I have 60 calorie pudding cups no sugar, and no sugar jello cups 10 calories. Its so hard to stay away from sweets but for me it gets easier and easier. I have totally dropped the pop habit all together its awesome. I usually try to have a guilt free day myself your right it does help you not feel like your left out. Plus I have been cooking the meals from off of the Cook Yourself Thin show. The only thing that sucks it hasn't been on in 3 weeks I am not sure if the season is over for the show or what, but I wish they would bring it back I looked forward to seeing the show everyday. Thanks for all the helpful hints and it sure helps to know that I am not the only one :)

    Thanks again,

    Ronda

  • Those are such helpful suggestions! I am a total sweet-eater too. I think that once the sugar hits my tongue, it's all over. I want more and more and more. I am trying to keep my kitchen stocked with foods like the 100 calorie popcorn bags, grapes, 40 calorie fruit pops, and baby carrots. That way you CAN eat the whole bag, feel like you've splurged, and not have all that guilt and setback. I dont have things like brownies or cookies in my house at all now because you just set yourself up for failure that way. Even if you have kids who 'can' eat the sweets, they really shouldnt be eating them anyway and picking up bad habits. I also do an 'off-plan' day usually once a week, where I know I'll be going out to eat, or there may be a Birthday party or something like that. I designate the day and time that I'll probably go over my calorie limit, then just get right back to it the next day. This helps me from feeling left out of events just because I'm on a diet and it also helps with the feeling of being out of control and guilty, because it was all planned out.

Good luck everyone! We can NEVER give up!

  • YES!  We CAN do it!!  All we need to do is set small goals-starting as small as 5 lbs in 2 weeks if we need to. We don't even have to give up everything we love all at once. If we tend to eat 6 cookies, we'll take out 3, close the package and put it away and eat only the 3. If we're still hungry and urge for more, what helps me is that I drink water and if I'm home I'll go brush my teeth afterward. If he urge is STILL there, I just go online to the website and start remembering why I'm doing this. Have we all started our weight charts in the tools? It's awesome to see the graph of your weight going downward, This is one of the best and most powerful thing that helped me so far. When I stayed level one week, I said uh-oh, this gotta go down and it did the next week. If you haven't yet done it, I urge you to start-it's great!

  • Wow, I guess there are a lot of people like me. It is kind of lonely when I binge eat and then latter feel horrible. Horrible is too tame a word for me I curse myself out and call myself names I could not mention here. I just joined this slim fast group so I am hoping to get some support from people like me. my goal is to lose at least 20 pounds before july ??

  • Oh man! More than a half pan. How about a whole pan? And then some? It's sick to think about how much I eat in one sitting sometimes. I never realized until I started dieting, but I'm a total binge eater. And "just one" does NOT work!!! :'(

  • a half pan and and half gal milk

  • I discovered long ago, that I can't eat just one, so when I do "Fall off the Wagon" I just tell myself, "Well, you ruined it today, so you might as well eat what you want and start over tommorrow. Then tomorrow comes and I eat something else I shouldn't, so I tell my self to heck with it this week. I'll start fresh next week. And so on.......  before you know it I am back to my same bad habits and the weight comes back and then some.

I know that most weight loss professionals tell you not to reward yourself with food, but, I do on occasion. At the end of the week, if I have lost weight and have done really really good, I will allow my self something (bad) depending what I am craving. For me, it gets rid of my craving, and I am less likely to fo on a benge.

    Good luck ladies

    have faith and patience.

    God bless you both.
