  • that's a good idea.  Also, I like diet hot cocoa = 25 calories in the evening when I am really hungry or sugar free hot apple cider = 15 calories.  Comes in a box in the cocoa area/coffee or tea area.

  • This is a great thread.  I think my favorite snacks are from my slimfast meal plan:

    the snack bars

2teaspoons of peanut butter and an apple

2 teaspoons of peanut butter and one low fat graham cracker

I am not sure how many calories they are but I tend to eat those a lot for snack but I love peanut butter.

  • Some of my fav snacks so far...

Grape or cherry tomatoes and a few slices of low-fat turkey lunch meat, lightly dipped in low-cal italian dressing. Or plain. But I mean...yummier with the dressing obviously.

Hardboiled eggs with yellow mustard or Red Hot hot-sauce.

20 mini pretzels with salsa. (or mustard or red hot... i loooove Red Hot!)

Special K whole wheat crackers with a 60 cal mozzarella string cheese.

Strawberries sprinkled with splenda. (So gooood!)

cantaloupe (or whatever fruit) with some low call reddi whip.

    mm. hungry now. lol.

  • The mini corn dogs are AWESOME!!!  I baked them off in the oven and the last two minutes they were cooking, I sprayed them with some cooking spray so they had that wonderful hot grease taste that makes fried food so great without all the calories of fried.  I dipped mine in plain yellow musturd and could not tell they weren't real corn dogs.  My only tip is to eat them hot, once they cool off a bit, they have a slightly rubbery/gumy taste.

  • I absolutely agree, Sparkle.  I just replied to a post from a woman who works at Subway & addicted to their cookies.  I had a half a footlong (6" obviously, lol) last night & don't feel guilty because I load up on the veggies & saved most of my calories for that (dinner) meal.  I try not to deprive myself, either.  I just ration out my portions & round my calories "up."  In other words, that sub was around 380 calories, but I upped it to around 500 cuz I added Sweet Onion Sauce & can't have my sub without it...lol.  SOOO, I gave myself a "cushion" & didn't go over my calories for the day.

I love your tips & your snack ideas & you're right: certain folks are thin for a reason, not by accident.  Others just have good genes!

CONFESSION TIME:  I haven't exercised since Saturday for girlie reasons; having terrible head/backaches, cramps, etc.  I know exercise alleviates some of that but I've had a rough work & personal week to add to the pain.  YELL AT ME, PLEASE!  I deserve it!  And tomorrow I'm going to the NYPD v. FDNY Benefit Hockey Game--all day drinking & prob hungover Sunday.  Ok, let me have it.  But it's for a good cause?  JK, that's no excuse...

I'll be back on track next week...PROMISE!  Keep up the good work, Sparkle.  I'm glad SF hasn't lost my info lately so I can easily look to you for inspiration...:o)

  • I always have their corn dogs in my freezer. I buy the regular sized ones, 150 calories and they are So good! I can't tell the difference at all. Hope you get your fix from the minis!

Here I'm adding an extremely filling low calorie bean burrito. Quick and easy when you need something asap.

La Banderita low fat, low carb soft taco shells = 81 calories

1/2 cup of Old El Paso fat free refried beans = 90 calories

Total: 171 calories, 11g protein and 11g fiber! Now that's filling.

Add some fat free shredded cheese and you're got a warm gooey cheesy snack or a meal that's sure to stop your hunger pangs.

  • I just came back from the store and got 100 calorie packs of white cheddar popcorn and the South Beach dark chocolate covered soy nuts (also 100 calories).  I also picked up some Morningstar mini corndogs to try since I LOVE the mini corndogs at Buffalo Wild Wings.  Don't know if they will taste anywhere near as good, but at 170 calories per serving, its worth a try!!!

  • I just got back from the store with goldfish crackers in parm cheese and pizza flavor. :) I forgot to check out the laughing cow cheese but it sounds yummy.

I want to add to the list a few more of my sweet snack ideas.

Blue Bunny krunch ice cream bars with splenda = 90 calories

Portion packs of Welch's dried fruit = 80 calories (great addition to dry cereal)

Sun-Maid small box of yogurt covered raisins = 120 calories

Tootsie Pops = 60 calories (keeps you busy for a while)

    Last and not sweet...

Wheat Thins french onion flavor = 140 for 15 crackers (great chip substitute with lots of filling fiber)

Some of the regular potato chips are 140 calories per serving with a 15 chip serving size. Once you start really paying attention, there are so many great options out there. It's all about discipline but it's all worth it. I saw a gorgeous thin woman in the grocery store tonight. What did I see her doing? Flipping over a Sun Chips bag and reading the calorie content. ;) That was proof for me that I can be one of those thin women by simply "paying attention".

Thanks to all who have posted! Keep your ideas coming, we can all use them!

    Sparkle =)

  • Laughing Cow cheese is soooo good!  I've had it since I was a kid but it's popular again--YAY!  I understand the salty/sweet craving...it strikes hard later at night, for me.  I try & have a scoop of full-fat peanut butter.  The protein is satiating & it can even make you sleepy!

  • Sparkle this is a great idea you had!!    I have a snack to add that I love

I enjoy salty snacks that's what I crave

I have found this cheese spread it's called The Laughing cow (they have a garlic and herb flavor -delish)

1 wedge of the low fat is only 35 calories

5 wheat crackers  80 calories (I prefer Nabisco wheatsworth)

Total calories 115 -  I usually have a piece of fruit with this snack my favorite is red grapefruit you get that salty sweet thing going yummmy!

    Ann :)
