    I'd stretch before the video.  It's pretty intense and there isn't a lot of warm up to it.  Enjoy!

  • That is a great idea, melanies!  God knows we all need self-esteem boosts while dieting...especially when there are so many sabateurs around...lol.  Keep up the positivity, everyone!  WE CAN DO THIS!!! 

    P.S.   For those of you that raved about Jillian Michaels 30-Day Shred, you've inspired me & mine just came in the mail.  I can't wait to go home & try it!  WOOHOO!

  • Thats awesome, guppypuppy. Its the best feeling knowing that you made the choice and are in control!

    One thing that helps me with emotional eating is asking myself if this has EVER really made me feel better in the past. I also tell myself that it will be there tomorrow if I really, really want it. Tomorrow rolls around and I have forgotten about it.

    I often eat out of anger, and I started doing this:


    Take a 3" x 5" index card and write the following sentence on it:

    "Even though I'm angry at (insert name of person or situation) and can't express this openly, I deeply and completely accept myself  without judgment."

    Before you go to bed each night, and after you rise in the morning (and at any other time you wish), read this sentence out loud to yourself three times.

    This has helped me immensely!

    I'm guessing that you can replace the word "anger" with some other emotion that you think drives you to eat emotionally.

     

  • I know exactly what you mean...I do that a lot myself. For a long time I didn't even realize it.  It's like when I'm imagining the food I want so bad I get high but after I've eaten it I end up feeling so low. There were times I'd jokingly say "somebody stop me" but I have to learn to stop myself. I have absolutely no support at home with this. My husband is a junk food, sweets eating, fast food all the time buying junkie.He could stand to lose about 65lbs himself but he won't do it. I guess since he's tall it don't really hurt him as much or so he thinks...I'm short so you see every ounce up close and personal. I know I have to just tune him out and do this for me....maybe then he'll want to become a part of it but I doubt that seriously.

  • I hear ya! I am having a stressful day today and just want to eat everything in this house!!! I was afraid of today coming and here it is- I have to keep reminding myself of how far I have come and I can't throw that away over one bad day!!!!

  • I am an emotional eater as well but I'm getting better.  Instead of chowing down, I exercise out the negative energy.  It sounds hokey but a really good workout (not just walking, I'm talking cardio, sweating, cursing the day you were born aerobic exercise) helps me zap the nervous energy that drives me to eat.  Plus, that nervous energy is a great motivator to go that extra mile.  I'm still hungry afterwards but that's because I was burning calories, not burning the midnight oil with worry.

    If you are too busy to spend an hour at the gym, I recommend Jillian Michaels (Biggest Loser) workouts.  If you can worry in the middle of that, you are a world class worrier!  Her 30 Day Shred videos are only about 25 minutes but they get the job done.

  • Wow, I still can't believe I did it.  Anyone deal with good or bad stress and then nosh away the rest of the day, because it helps you feel better?  OMG, that is so my middle name!!!!  But maybe not anymore...yesterday we went to town to buy a recliner.  My husband's keeps losing parts every time he sits in it.  A typical guy thing - he talks me into not only getting the recliner but two couches too!  (We needed them horribly).  My point is, I had to put some of it on my credit card.  Many people do this.  To me though, it's like the plague.  We went through some rough financial times in the recent past and I don't ever want to relive them.  Every time we have to make a new purchase, I get nauseated, migraines, grumpy, you get the idea.  Well, it all happened again yesterday after we got home.  I was ready to vomit because of the "uncertainty" of "can we make it" mantra.

    So I took my advil and I busied myself doing Super Bowl stuff.  Headache went away, so did the nausea and the shakes.  I even got through the rest of the day without one nosh!!!!  Do you think?.... No way....possibly that I just conquered a stressful situation without pigging out! OMG maybe there's hope for me yet:)
