  • This is a tough time for me too, especially when the kids want a snack and are having something sweet. What I have done is bought some items to help me through this time. Hot cocoa, lifesavers, Jell-o, hot apple cider...all of these things have really helped me get through the evening. Good luck!

  • you are so not alone on this!  It also hits me around 8pm - 10 pm.  I think my brain is just use to that "mindless" eating around that time.  Commercials on TV most likely don't help.  I like the idea of walking the dog... even if the distance may seem short it is just the idea of reprogramming the brain.  Patterns are hard to break, they have taken years to create and they wont end in a day or a week.  Best of luck Barbie to a healthy life!

  • I find that I am in the same boat as you, I do great all day long...then seem to sabotage myself at night, usually during the hours from 8ish to 10ish. (primetime TV hours). I am trying a new replacement for food, green tea. Will see if this works.

  • I am the same way!  I do good all day long and then evening comes and shoots me right in the foot.  I find that if I do some kind of physical activity AFTER dinner, that helps.  I take my daughter to the park, go for a walk, jump on the trampoline, anything to burn some of those calories off!  And I stay busy until right before bed.  If I have down time to sit and do nothing, then I give into the cravings and then feel guilty about it all the next day.  I just try to remind myself of what I will feel like in the morning if I eat at night.  I don't always win this battle, but I'm doing pretty good!   Night time is the worst for cravings but you can beat it!  Just keep reminding yourself of why you want to lose the weight.

  • Great I thank you for the advice.. gonna take you up on the walking after dinner and smaller portion on everything.. thanks...

Hope that I can cut the evening cravings...

  • I had the same problem . Then I started  useing a smaller plate at supper ,a salad plate ,to eat my supper on . I was eating smaller portions of everything . My biggest accomplishment is I  cut out potatoes and bread, and pasta. I now only eat baked or broiled  meat and vegetables for supper and everyday after my last meal I walk our dog ,Dixie 4 blocks in our neighborhood. I know its not very far but it has helped. My last meal I have at 4:00pm . If I should get a urge to snack I have a cup of Special K cereal in a coffee cup with 2% milk.  So far it has worked.
