  • I also get my stuff there too since it's so much cheaper there.i like the fruit favors too for my sweet tooth

  • Hi!  I completely understand the sweets cravings.  They could be my downfall, but I don't let them.  A little background first: 3 years ago, I used the slim fast site to lose 60 pounds, and I've kept it off for 3 years (well, I had a remarkably stressful year last year and gained 15 pounds which is far less than I would have gained in the past).  Anyhow, I have to lose those 15 pounds as well as the other 35 I wanted to lose.  I found Slim Fast to be one of the most liberating lifestyle changes ever.  I could eat whatever I wanted so long as I stayed within my calorie range.  When I first started, I had serious cravings.  I LOVE Hershey's chocolate bars with real peanut butter--the kind that doesn't have added sugar--just pure crushed peanuts and salt.  Yum!  My new rule for cravings became: wait 24 hours, if I'm still craving whatever I was craving, then I can have a small portion.  Simply giving myself permission to eat the object of my craving alleviated the guilt factor; therefore I was able to enjoy every bite and feel satisfied when I was done.  In the past, I'd still give in to the cravings, but wouldn't feel satisfied and then ate more. Vicious cycle.  Giving yourself permission to enjoy something guilt-free is tremendously empowering.  Don't get me wrong, you still have to count the calories and stay within the range but there's no spectre of guilt lurking over your shoulder to make you feel badly.

    I've been gone from Slim-Fast for over two and never depended on any of the products except for the canned shakes for breakfast on weekday mornings.  The only craving that I used low-cal versions was the 100 calorie packs of Orville Redenbacher's low fat Kettle Korn.  Typically, if I'm craving something, I only want that one thing.  I'd rather have a smaller guilt-free portion of the "real" deal than a substitute.  However, if the "replacement" snacks work, I say go for it.  Frankly, everybody's gotta do what we have to do.  I've just discovered, that not depriving myself of anything, makes my life richer, and doesn't make me feel like I'm on a "diet". 

    Okay, sorry if I rambled, but we all have to do whatever it takes to make a lifestyle change we can live with forever or the weight will come right back on when we finally "crack." 

  • Slim fast has some really good snack bars. They're pretty dense so it will help subside the "craving monster".  I tried rice cakes, but it was like eating air. Got the calories, but no satisfaction. Those 100 calorie ice cream treats are awesome!

  • Thanks.  I'll have to go to wal-mart later and only buy the low calorie snacks.  That way I am not tempted.

  • Hi, Believe me I know exactly what your going through. Sad enough I do like sweets but there is a way to have them without damaging your diet. Slimfast does have chocolate treats  to satisfy your sweet tooth.  There's even more options, snack wells cookies are pretty good,not bad at all. I love their devils foods chocolate covered cookie, soooooooooooo good. Smart ones has treats also, chocolate brownies with ice cream, cheesecake, chocolate eclairs, mocha ice cream desserts and they all can fit in with your diet. So you can splurge and still stay with in your diet. So don't suffer,keep some around so you don't endanger your diet by eating the wrong dessert. Have a 60 calorie pudding from jello or a 100 calerie ice cream sandwich, they do satisfy.

  • I am having trouble leaving the sweets alone and I am usually not a big sweets person anyways.  I think that it is just the fact of not being able to have it.  I am starting the shakes tomorrow.  I could really use a buddy though.  Somebody who knows what I am going through!
