    Again, if the packaging for the turkey/ham says that 1 slice has 20 calories, then it is likely true.  To be extra sure that you are getting the appropriate serving, you can use a food scale and see if the 1 slice equals the number of grams that the packaging indicates.

    As for the diet soda and coffee, I would recommend cutting that down, and relying more on pure water to complete your fluid requirements.  This will also help to flush out whatever sodium you are taking in from deli meats or canned foods.

  • I get the turkey sliced at the deli.  I only put one or two slices on my sandwich(1 slice of wheat bread).  I haven't payed attention to weight of the turkey.  I figure it is healthy and better than how I was eating.  I have been measuring other items, just to get a feel for serving size-for example- 3/4 cups of raison bran, 1/4 milk and 1/2 cup of orange juice for breakfast.  I usually ate three or four servings before I paid attention to what a serving should be.

     

  • well that sounds good, i cook the chicken and only eat canned tuna but im not eating turkey i need to buy it canned also since i don't cook it..but im only eating 3 oz, this time..how many do u eat? im on a 1500 calorie plan..thanks

  • I have been buying natural turkey *** from the deli.  No sugar, salt added, just sliced turkey.  It costs more, but is very good.  It is amazing what reading the labels will do for you.  Someone mentioned that whey are not eating any processed or prepared food.  Good plan-wish it was summer time.  Farmers markets are a great resource if you cant have a garden.

  • While waiting for the nutrionist to reply, a couple quick notes.    The weight of one food and the calories of another are not what should be compared.  Three regular slices of turkey never hurt anyone's diet.  Turkey isn't the problem but it's best not to eat deli or processed foods if you can avoid them...high sodium.    I replied earlier that you are consuming too much sodium (salt) - ham is high in sodium, diet soda is loaded, loaded, loaded with it.  It holds all your fluids and interferes with weight loss.    Watch how much sodium you are taking in.

  •  i think i was eating tomuch turkey or ham because how can 3 slices have 20 calories when a little baby canned 3 oz of tuna have 80?!! one serving oof ham or turkey had 20 calories, and the slice is  1 0z but is big!! is mor3 meat than the canned tuna and i was eating 3! slices.... i don't know really until i check and see if the weight is coming off or not sooner, but i do drink a lot of diet soda so that might be the problem and coffee what do u think?

    I don't think you were eating too much turkey/ham.  If you were having 3 slices of either one, at 20 calories per ounce, that only equals 60 calories.  It does sound like you might be having some water retention issues though.  I don't think 3 slices of turkey or ham would cause all that water retention, so you may want to look at the sodium content of everything else you are eating.  Salt retains water, so the less salt/sodium in your diet, the better off.  Also remember to drink plenty of water as that helps to flush out the retained water/salt.  Also look at everything you are eating to ensure that you are eating the right amount of food.  If you're physically hungry, you may not be eating everything allotted to you on the plan.

    Finally, we recommend weighing yourself once a week, at the same time, on the same day, on the same scale, in the same clothes (approximately) for the most accurate weight history.  If you choose to weigh yourself more frequently, please be aware that shifts in water weight can skew the results.

  • oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think i was eatig to much ham or turkey!! but didn't gain 1 pound since i run everyday for 50 mts. i was doing the turkey roll with 3!! regular slices of turkey or ham from foster farms, since the  nutritional facts said 20 calories per serving and it said 1 slice was 1 once and on my plan i need only 3 oz of canned tuna or turkey *** and i went to the grocery and saw the canned tuna and said what!!!! 3 oz is 80 calories, so i started this mondAY eATING THE canneed 3 oz tuna and sometimes i used chicken ***, but put it in the canned tuna to make sure i only eat 3 oz!! not 3!! regular deli slices for sandwhich....

    amazingly, i felt lighther in one day and the scale when all the way down to 145, thhe next day it when back to 150, but these 10 lbs i got to loose will probably come off faster after waiting 1 mnth and seeing not gaining or loosing.........goood think i work out every day!!!

    so was i eating to much??? cause now  i feel hungrry!!! but i follow exactly the plan, or will these feelig will go away ?

  • thank u for your comment, but i alreaedy ask a registered dietician and they say im doing the right portion for ham or turkey or black bean nachos, but the weight is just not coming off, is already been 3 weeks?? i drink a lot of diet coke and diet dr pepper i think thats the problem im addicted so i ned to have atleast 2 a day every day.......im starting today to drink nothing but water maybe that will help....i only need 10 lb s, more to loose and it seems for ever..
