Goodbye Optima bars, hello uncertainty.

  • I myself  need the low carb shakes desperately.  All the other runs my blood sugar up 50 points.! I dont like the new format either cant get it to post the correct  weight or BMI information,  and so far SF has not bothered to answer any questions or problems I had for over a week  Guess I will have to find a different  product  and  program I can  interact with.  Good Luck to all of you on your weight loss.

  • Hello everyone. It appears my account is working again so I'll take advantage of that while I can.

Courtney, thank you for the suggestion. I have not yet tried other brands. We were lucky enough to find an online source that had a lot of Optima Bar still in stock. We purchased about a 6 month supply. However that will soon come to an end and I'm sure we will start looking again.

We have tried all of the new 321 bars. The almond and trail mix meal bars are decent. However I don't see being able to survive on those alone. We have been buying some Nature Valley products to help with the lack of Optima snacks.

The other issue I have with this change over is the fact that the new boxes cost more and they only have five bars rather than six. Shame on you guys!

Ultimately I am not going to let this keep me down. I may have to find a new product when the time comes, but that's OK. In the end both SF and myself will be losers... however I'll be on the positive side of that statement and they'll have two less customers.

I wish ya'll luck and if you happen to find something that really works for ya, let me know. I'll keep any eye on this thread - even if my account becomes a problem again. ;-)

  • Gone now is the old way of doing menus that I so depended on to keep me on track. This new program is not for me. Thankfully I have learned good skills while actively using the SF program. For that I am thankful. I will miss SF.

  • i want my optima chocolate cookie dough back!!!!!!

    amy;)
    Edit
  • I did try differnt Special K bars, but they taste way too sweet. Maybe I should try the other brands as well..The new 3.2.1 bars are too salty and I too, don't feel satisfied. Maybe if enough members complain to SF they will continue the Optima line. Why fix what's not broken, right? I loaded up on Optima Meal bars when the transition started. They were all on sale, so I have a good supply, too, but that won't last forever.

  • know the feeling.  The Optima line was to me the best one yet.  The new "improved" bars leave me wanting.  I put my two cents in the pot when it happened.  Was very, very lucky and found a store that still had them.  Needless to say I have a cupboard full.  At least they still have the Optima shakes.

  • have u tried combining some of the slim fast stuff with other brands such as atkins bars, south beach diet bars all of them are sold at walmart or where ever you can find slim fast they have mostly the same flavors and all as the old optima bars

  • I feel the same. I've tried both the meal bars and snack bars and can't say I'm crazy for them. I've been on maintenenace for over a year now and continue do my menus, staying pretty regimented. I have loved the Optima since I started in Jan. of 2008. The 3.2.1 doesn't compare...PAnn

  • I too loved the optima bars and am sad to see them go.  I have only tried 2 of the new bars but did not care for them.

  • My wife and I started using the Optima bars in Jan of 09 and have since lost over 70 pounds each. To our utter shock, we see that the Optima line of bars has been discontinued! Besides being a huge mistake (in my opinion) it has caused us to reconsider our future use of Slim Fast in general.

We have checked our local stores and some of them have the new bars. We have tried a few and found most of them to have a strong salty taste or are just simply bland. Add to that the diminished size (which leaves me feeling less satisfied) along with fewer calories and I find myself hungry sooner than I should be.

I have spoken to Slim-Fast and been informed of their suggested replacements. However that does not help me if I am unable to find those bars locally. And because they do not provide samples, I am hesitant to order a case of bars in hopes of liking them.

So, in the meantime I would encourage anyone that is not happy with this decision to contact Slim-Fast and voice their opinion. Heck, if you like the new bars, let them know as well. They seem to need input regarding this matter.

In the meantime, we will add some extra calories here and there and try to find a product (in or out of the Slim-Fast line) that will suit our needs.

If anyone has any suggestions or input, please feel free to add your two cents.

    Sorry for the rant. :-)
